"Alpha King," Anna said, walking into her office. Her heels clicked against the polished floor, the sound sharp and precise. She carried a tablet in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other. The morning light streamed through the windows behind her desk, casting long shadows across the room. "I don't think it's time for Holland's session yet. Why did you guys come so early?"
"I came alone," Kasteil said. He was sitting in one of the chairs across from her desk, his posture stiff, his hands resting on his knees. He looked out of place in the soft, warm space—too large, too tense, too formal.
"Oh," she said, taking a seat behind her desk. The chair swiveled slightly as she settled in. "That's okay then. Are you going to go pick up Holland and then come back again?"
"No," Kasteil said. "Holland would come later."
