Chapter 3 - New thoughts

As the day progresses I continue my grind. Eating, going to the bathroom, taking a shower, doing as much as I can to maximize experience. By taking my phone with me wherever I go.

After a long 20 hour day I had managed to upgrade everything that I could. That being the computer, monitor, phone, and the internet router.

The internet router was a part of a mesh network of 3 routers, though despite that, only the router that I was connected to gained any experience and was affected by the upgrade. Which I upgraded twice.

The internet was more stable and consistent, but otherwise produced the same speeds. I suppose the internet plan only allows so much.

Since I awoke yesterday around 4 o'clock in the afternoon and discovered my ability; I had yet to sleep. Now, at 2 o'clock, I had a decision to make.

Go to sleep now and wake up around 11 o'clock tonight.

Or stay awake another 7 hours and go to sleep at 9 o'clock tonight, to wake up tomorrow, probably around 5 AM.

Ladies and gentlemen, I think we both know what I'm going to do.

Standing up from my desk I head up the stairs to the kitchen. The only way I'm going to stay awake is by eating my way through the hours.

Along the way I run into my mom, Elizabeth.

"OH, hey bud, you're awake."

"Un-huh, I'm trying to fix my sleep schedule." I replied unenthusiastically

"Yeah that's probably a good idea, just don't hurt yourself." she said, slightly worried.

"Yeah, I'll try. Say, what are you thinking about doing for dinner?" I questioned.

"I don't know, how about BBQ chicken, instant salad, and asparagus?" mom answered.

"Yeah, that sounds good, can we have it a little earlier? I don't think I'll make it to our usual time." I queried.

"Yeah sure, what time were you thinking?"

"Like, eat at 8?" I silently pleaded.

"Sure, that works." she benevolently accepted.

"Ok! I'm going to the kitchen to make some food, probably some chicken nuggets. Do you want any?"

"OH, that would be lovely, thank you."

I skipped off to the kitchen rejuvenated after my successful deal.

To the freezer, the bag of frozen nuggets, the oven 400°F, aluminum foil, nuggets on the tray, once the oven heated, throw them in for 22 minutes.

Now I can put a timer on my phone and go back to grind more experience. Man, I wish I had something more convenient to track the time… wait.

I have an old smart watch. It came with one of my old phones as a promo. Where did I put that?

I'm certain I placed it somewhere in my room.

Bursting into my room, I head straight for my accessory drawer. Where I keep all of my old accessories I don't use anymore.

There it was buried beneath a pile of old bracelets, necklaces, watches, and old band rubber bracelets from over a decade ago.

Still sitting on the charger, just waiting to be dusted off and plugged in.

After fishing it out, I bring the smart watch to the office and plug it in.

The watch is a NameSung cog series 2, which was released on October 2, 2015. Almost 10 years ago to the day.

I honestly, completely forgot about it.

It could call, text, use the clock app, use the calendar, and even track your health activity.

It truly was a product of its time. Now NameSung produces way better smart watches and even smart rings now.

That's what a decade of innovation creates.

Well time to wait until the food is done, then it will be back to the grind.

Once the food is done, I tell my mom and receive the usual "thanks buddy", for my meager work.

Now that I'm eating and have a more clear head.

I think it's about time to catalog the upgrades.

The monitor had an increase in graphics, now it sits at 8k resolution from the previous 4k, or the original 1080. The refresh rate got another buff. The previous upgrade brought the refresh rate up from 60 to 240. This upgrade went from 240 to 480.

The computer much like the last upgrade was an allrounded buff to everything. This time the buff brought the specs quite a bit higher, some would say glimpsing into the next Gen of computing.

The graphics card can display in 8k. The motherboard is near super computer standard or at least I'd like to think so. The ram has reached 500. The operating system, which was Aperture 10. Now is a completely unique operating system that resembles Aperture 10, it can fully utilize the specs of the current computer.

Not only that the cooling ability has been increased, how I'm not too sure? But, I suspect that the materials themselves have been upgraded to have better cooling or produce less heat.

Finally the energy efficiency has gone up a fair amount as well.

My phone has become a mini high spec desktop. It really has become a little beast. Everything experienced a major upgrade. The best way to describe it is as a phone of the future that can do just about anything you want it to. Well that a phone of today can, just significantly better. The camera has a telescopic lens that can see for what feels like forever, at a frightening quality.

Now that I have cataloged my new technology, I find myself asking a question.

What's the point? I mean I have upgraded my technology, sure, but how do I really make money off of it?

My first thought is using AI to play the stock market. But, that requires having access to that advanced of an AI, as well as all of the data required. Plus the initial cost. With stocks, you need money to make money.

The other thought was to use an AI to hack into companies, then sell the exploit to the company. I read this method in a few webnovels before. I don't really like this idea because it is extremely risky.

With people finding out what my identity is. Or even worse, my ability.

I don't know how they would reach that conclusion, but I would rather not take the risk.

I don't want people to know I exist, so making money in such a flamboyant way makes me uneasy.

I mean think of the taxes, or the government over sight.

No thank you!
