Chapter 129 - Chapter 130: Easy Money

Thud!

Heavily injured, paralyzed, and unable to move, Zabuza could only watch as Roy's merciless blade fell. He died with a heart full of resentment. Blood stained the white sheets as Zabuza's head spun across the floor. His eyes remained fixed on Roy, unable to believe he would meet his end like this—his ambitions, his power, and his life vanishing in an instant. In his final second, he looked at Haku, then slowly closed his eyes.

The room fell into a deathly silence. Gato and the samurai stared in disbelief. Roy had moved so fast that even Haku hadn't reacted in time.

"Master Zabuza!!" Haku let out a piercing, agonizing scream.

Roy didn't waste a second. With the Wind Chaser effect still active, he turned toward the beautiful boy like a localized hurricane. He lunged, his cold blade whistling toward Haku's throat. Haku woven a one-handed seal and flickered to the corner of the room.

Roy clicked his tongue. Ninjas are a pain. At least he'd managed to take out Zabuza first through the ambush.

"I will kill you!!" Haku's face was contorted, his gentle features replaced by a mask of pure, murderous hatred.

"Come then," Roy provoked.

Without Zabuza, Haku was a beast of vengeance. He wouldn't run, which was exactly what Roy wanted. This was why he killed Zabuza first. Unlike Naruto's "Talk-no-Jutsu," Roy didn't need Zabuza to realize his feelings—he just needed the kill. Zabuza was the bigger prize: 1,000 Stat Points, easy money.

Gato and his men fled in a panic, but neither Roy nor Haku cared. Haku was blinded by rage; Roy was cold and calculating. He knew Haku's profile: a master of Ice and Water Release who possessed all of Zabuza's assassination skills.

"Hidden Mist Jutsu!"

Haku's voice rang out, and a dense fog filled the room, making it impossible to see an inch ahead. Haku vanished into the mist. Even in his rage, he was an elite ninja; he knew he had to be calm to kill. Roy felt ripples of danger all around him as shadows flickered in the fog.

Fwoosh!

Roy's ears twitched. He heard a sharp whistle from his left. His sword transformed into a shield, blocking a barrage of Senbon needles. Before he could breathe, needles rained in from every direction.

"Secret Jutsu: Thousand Flying Water Needles of Death!"

Haku, hidden in the fog, performed a one-handed seal, turning the moisture in the air into needles for a 360-degree high-speed assault. Roy remained calm.

"Assemble, breath of the earth—My name is Alf!" He completed the short chant for [Via Shilves]. A coat of colored light enveloped him perfectly.

Ting! Ting! Ting! Countless needles struck Roy's armor, sounding like rain on a tin roof before clattering to the floor. Haku froze. What kind of technique is this?

Via Shilves wasn't as strong as a full barrier, but it was still magic. A grenade wouldn't break it, let alone tiny silver needles. Roy lunged through a window, breaking out of the house. The mist was Haku's home turf; Roy needed to move the fight. He knew Haku would follow—this wasn't a mission anymore; it was a blood feud.

Once in the forest, Roy slowed down, baiting Haku. Haku unleashed hundreds of needles, covering every exit, but the coat of light held firm. Roy could see the boy's frustration. Haku finally pulled out his trump card.

"Secret Jutsu: Crystal Ice Mirrors!"

Dozens of ice mirrors fell from the sky, trapping Roy. Each mirror reflected Haku's face, cold and murderous. Haku began moving between the mirrors at lightning speed, throwing everything he had at Roy. Without Zabuza, his life had no meaning. He wanted to kill this boy and then die to join his master.

"Too bad. You're the one who walked into a trap," Roy shook his head. He reached into his spatial ring and pulled out the Holy Elven Sword.

"Burning Heavens!"

Roy triggered the sword's effect, draining the energy of the surrounding three kilometers. Crimson flames erupted around the blade. Even in a different world, the sword worked—energy was energy, and the sword was just a "car" that could run on mana or chakra just as well.

The temperature skyrocketed. No matter how strong the Ice Release was, it was still just chakra-reinforced ice. The mirrors began to melt. Roy swung the sword, and a flaming dragon roared, exploding outward. The heatwave shattered the mirrors and swallowed Haku.

Thump.

A charred, broken Haku lay in the crater. Unlike Roy, who had high Endurance, ninjas were often "glass cannons"—high attack, low defense. Roy walked up and stood over him. Haku's glazed eyes reflected Roy's face, filled with a final, lingering regret. Roy drove the sword through his heart.
