[Luck]!
This development ability only activated in the face of true danger. By choosing to stay and fight a boss two levels above him, Roy met the criteria. As the danger increased, so did the boost to his stats. His Level 3 status screen began to climb rapidly—Rank C, Rank B, Rank A... and it wasn't stopping.
Ryuu bit her lip. Why? Why would he fight an enemy two ranks higher? She saw the blood on his back. Seeing him so injured, Daphne and Cassandra began to cry.
"Heal Sight!" Cassandra finished her chant, and the green light washed over Roy, sealing his wounds into scars.
Ryuu stepped up beside him, shoulder to shoulder. She realized she couldn't leave him. She wouldn't survive another total loss of her Familia. This was the craziest thing she had ever done—one Level 4, one Level 3, and two Level 1s attempting to slay a Level 5 Floor Boss.
Standard Guild protocol required ten Level 4s or twenty Level 3s plus a Level 5 to take this thing down. Level 5 was the threshold of "First-Class Adventurer"—beings who were no longer human, but "Supermen."
Roy smiled. "Cassandra, keep the magic ready. Daphne, watch for any straggling monsters. Protect the healer!"
"Miss Ryuu, I'll block Amphisbaena's blue flames. You circle around from the other side and deal as much damage as possible!" Roy barked out orders, unbinding the Undine Cloth from his waist and tossing it to the elf girl.
Ryuu caught the cloth, which was already stained with Roy's blood. She let out a heavy sigh and wrapped it tightly around her arm.
Amphisbaena's left head unhinged its jaw, and the pale blue flames that had previously kept Roy on the run surged forth again. But this time, Roy didn't dodge.
"Incinerate!"
The Elven Holy Sword in Roy's hand greedily absorbed the surrounding mana, wrapping the blade in violent crimson fire.
BOOM!
With a heavy swing, the crimson flames surged forward like a dragon, clashing mid-air with the dragon's blue breath. The sheer pressure forced Roy backward, his heels digging a furrow into the cavern floor.
"Demon King's Rage!"
Without hesitation, Roy activated the special effect of the Demon King's Armor. The light armor pressed against his skin, its invisible "teeth" sinking in to drain his blood. Roy's face paled, but his total stats skyrocketed to S999!
Boosted by both his [Luck] ability and the armor, Roy's "Incinerate" finally matched the raw power of the Floor Boss. Ryuu, Daphne, and Cassandra watched in awe. A Level 3 going toe-to-toe with a Floor Boss?
Ryuu's gaze lingered on Roy's Holy Sword, her eyes narrowing in thought.
BOOM!
The two opposing elements fought for dominance, sending waves of heat radiating outward. Ryuu was protected by the Undine Cloth, and the two rookies huddled under their Goliath cloaks. Roy, however, had nothing left to shield him. Stray sparks of blue flame landed on his skin, causing it to sizzle with the scent of burnt meat.
"Heal Sight!" Cassandra cast her magic desperately, but the effect was negligible.

"It's no use! I can't heal burns caused by these flames!" Cassandra cried, tears streaming down her face. Currently, the only known remedy for Amphisbaena's blue fire was the specialized fire-extinguishing potion brewed by Amid Teassanare, the "Saint of the Battlefield."
Roy had prepared for the Water Capital, but he hadn't expected the boss's status report to be a lie. He didn't have the potion.
With Roy pinning the dragon down, Ryuu blurred into motion, charging toward the beast. Sensing her higher Level 4 threat, Amphisbaena shifted its focus, turning the blue fire toward her. Ryuu weaved through the flames with practiced ease.
"Incinerate!" Roy swung again, sending a wall of red fire toward the dragon.
The dragon's eyes flashed with disdain. Its other head opened wide and exhaled a thick red mist. The moment the Holy Sword's flames touched the mist, their momentum died, and they fizzled out into nothing.
Roy's expression darkened. This was Amphisbaena's second breath weapon. If the blue flame was its spear, this red mist was its shield—The Red Mist Breath. It neutralized incoming magic.
To defeat Amphisbaena, they had to close the distance and cut it down manually. Normally, adventurers would lure the boss to a stable location with a solid footing and set an ambush. Roy's team didn't have that luxury. In this half-flooded cave, the boss was effectively a Level 6 threat.
Ryuu, more familiar with its patterns, ran up the cavern wall like a gale, positioning herself directly above the dragon's heads before dropping like a stone.
CLANG!
Her wooden sword slammed into the dragon's head with the weight of her fall. The vibration numbed her hands. The diamond-hard scales of a dragon were a wall of iron, making them the most feared monsters in the Dungeon.
