Chapter 72 - Chapter 64: The Royal Family Enters the Tourney

Just as Mufasa was about to mention the large amounts of wildfire beneath King's Landing, a guard rushed over and spoke.

"Ser Mufasa, there's a man named Gendry outside who claims to be the captain of your personal guard."

"But when did you acquire your own personal guard? If you don't know him, we will immediately chase him away."

"No, he's here for me. I'll go see him now."

Mufasa immediately stood up.

However, when he saw Gendry, he noticed Gendry was now wearing a horned helmet, dressed in hardened leather armor, and carrying a knife at his waist—the Damascus steel knife Mufasa had given him, which was mistaken for a valyrian steel sword.

"Ser Mufasa!"

Seeing Mufasa arrive, the other guards immediately called out.

Mufasa nodded.

"He is here to see me!"

Mufasa then led Gendry into The Red Keep.

"Ser Mufasa, do you really have a personal guard? But your status doesn't seem to be that of a lord yet?" Gendry asked.

Just now, when he told the gate guards he was here to be the captain of Mufasa's personal guard, they all looked at him with confusion.

"A personal guard? I will have one, but right now, they are all children! The task of training them falls to you!"

"Children? Are you talking about those people at the North Sea Kindergarten?" Gendry naturally knew Mufasa had established the North Sea Kindergarten.

"Exactly, them. Tomorrow, I'll take you to meet them."

Mufasa then told Gendry a story. A story called "The Ox Warrior."

After the story was finished, Mufasa said.

"I hope you can become my Ox Warrior, and never remove your helmet in front of others!" Mufasa said.

"I am willing to be your Ox Warrior, Ser Mufasa!" Gendry replied.

Years later, "Ox Demon King" Gendry, who struck fear into the hearts of two continents, was born.

Regarding his true appearance, many people believed he was disfigured, just like The Hound.

During the Royal Banquet, Prince Renly brought his good friend, Ser Loras the Knight of Flowers, to join the meal.

Everyone was somewhat curious about his arrival. Previously, Renly had never brought Loras to a Royal Banquet, as this was a private dinner.

Loras wasn't looking for anyone else; he was specifically looking for Mufasa.

He sat opposite Mufasa, eating with great elegance, more gracefully than even some noble ladies.

Mufasa privately thought that Arya could even learn a thing or two from him about how to eat.

"Ser Mufasa!" After Loras finished the food on his plate, he refused the maid's offer of another serving. He looked across at Mufasa.

"What is it, Loras? Do you need something?" Mufasa put down his knife and fork and wiped his mouth with a napkin.

"I heard that Brandon Stark fell from the King's Pyre Tower and broke both his legs."

"That's right, he truly is a pitiful child!" Mufasa said.

"His mother, Lady Catelyn, is heartbroken!"

"However, I also heard that although Brandon Stark broke his legs, you used some miraculous medicine to save his legs, and you even claimed he would be walking again within three months! Is that true?"

Loras looked at Mufasa with a hint of tension.

"That's right, his legs can still be healed!" Mufasa said.

"Then, I wonder if you have any more of that miraculous medicine? We, Highgarden, are willing to pay a high price for a portion."

"Oh, what are you planning to do with it?" Mufasa looked at him, puzzled.

"Is it to prevent serious injuries during the Tourney?" Mufasa asked.

"No, it's for my elder brother, Willas Tyrell."

Loras began recounting the battle between his elder brother and Oberyn the Red Viper.

At that time, Mace Tyrell had the young Willas challenge Oberyn the Red Viper, and he was defeated. What was worse, one of his legs got caught in the stirrup, and the warhorse fell down, crushing his knee.

Because of this, he became disabled. Although he is the heir to the Duke of Highgarden, he is still unmarried, even though his younger brother Garlan is already married.

"Therefore, I hope Ser Mufasa can be generous. Our Tyrell family is willing to pay a high price for that ointment." Ser Loras looked at Mufasa and said.

"I only had that one portion of the ointment, which I gave to Bran. But don't worry, Willas is still young, only in his twenties. I will find a way to concoct another batch of black jade joint repair paste." Mufasa said.

Since the black jade joint repair paste was obtained through a lottery, Mufasa wasn't sure if the Maesters of this world could replicate it.

"Then I beg you, Ser Mufasa!" Loras said.

Robert, sitting in the main seat, seemed to recall something and looked towards Joffrey.

"Little Joff, remember what you said last year? You wanted to win a Tourney championship too. Let's participate in the Tourney together this year! The King and the Prince fighting side-by-side will let King's Landing know the strength of our Royal Family."

"Father, I am willing to participate in the Tourney." Joffrey said.

Although Joffrey spoke confidently, when he sparred with Jon Snow at night, he realized he was truly weak; he couldn't even defeat Jon Snow.

Even Ygritte could disarm him within ten moves.

"Our Prince, someone like you wouldn't survive three days Beyond the Wall! You'd either freeze to death, starve, or be killed by other wildlings." Ygritte said.

"Can't I, Joffrey, win that championship?" he asked.

"Well, Prince Joffrey, the Tourney has three competition categories. King Robert is participating in the team competition. I see that you seem quite accurate with archery. Why don't you let Ygritte give you some pointers?" Jon Snow said.

Everyone knew Ygritte was a Master Archer; even Theon expressed admiration for her archery skills.

"Archery? But I only use a crossbow, which is easier. If I use a bow, I can manage close range, but I can't shoot accurately far away." Joffrey said.

"In that case, we have no good solutions, Your Highness!"

Jon Snow and Ygritte took their leave.

Joffrey looked at the brilliant stars in the sky. Suddenly, he saw a shooting star streak across, heading in the direction of Mufasa's room.

"Heaven itself is guiding me to seek Mufasa's help. It wouldn't be shameful to go."

So Joffrey tidied his attire and went to see Mufasa.

Before he even entered Mufasa's room, he smelled something burnt, along with crackling sounds.

"What's going on? Is there a fire? But there's no smoke or flames." Joffrey thought, confused.

Then he saw Mufasa sitting in front of a crucible, forming hand signs and chanting an incantation.

Mufasa had successfully refined another batch of gold liquid, and now he was waiting for it to cool.

Joffrey walked over at this moment.

"Mufasa, what are you doing?" he asked.

"Oh, Little Joff! I'm researching Alchemy! Look, all of this is gold I refined from silver." Mufasa said, pointing to the round, pancake-shaped gold ingots nearby.
