Chapter 116 - Chapter 114: We Are From the Mysterious East

Mufasa followed Mance Rayder to a very secluded valley.

There, he saw the largest weirwood tree Mufasa had ever seen.

Its canopy was as vast as a city, and its height was immeasurable. More than fifty people were needed to embrace its massive trunk.

The tree's hollow was enormous, larger than the door of an average farmhouse.

However, the inhabitants were quite small; they were the Children of the Forest. It was hard to distinguish their gender, and they were generally just over a meter tall, with brownish-green skin. Most wore clothes made of leaves, and a very few wore animal skins.

Mance Rayder walked up to the Children of the Forest and spoke in the ancient language of the first men.

"This is the person the Greenseer asked me to save: Mufasa. I have brought him."

The Children of the Forest gestured for Mufasa to come forward. Although Mufasa didn't understand, he still approached them.

"The Greenseer is waiting for you. Please follow us," one of the Children of the Forest said. She led the way into the tree hollow, and Mufasa followed.

It was very dark inside the tree hollow. Mufasa wanted to light a fire to illuminate the way. As his left thumb and forefinger were about to rub together, he heard the Children of the Forest behind him say sharply,

"Do not light a fire."

Mufasa turned around and saw the Child of the Forest, who seemed to have a flower on their head, looking at him sternly.

"If this weirwood tree is burned, the consequences will be severe."

Mufasa inexplicably found it a bit cute for a Child of the Forest of that height to say such serious words.

"Alright, I won't light a fire! Although it's dim here, it's not completely impossible to see."

Mufasa followed them for an unknown period, then entered a tree hollow filled with roots.

The roots here were intertwined, yet they formed an arched passage, allowing people to enter.

The Children of the Forest in front stopped. Mufasa saw an old man in a black robe with white hair. He didn't know his age, but Mufasa remembered him as Brynden Rivers.

He was Lord Bloodraven, the nine hundred ninety-fifth Lord Commander of the Nights Watch.

"Mufasa, it's good to see you!" A faint smile appeared on his pale, bloodless face.

"It is a great honor for me to meet you in person, Lord," Mufasa said.

"It seems you know my identity, but perhaps you are still confused about why I called you here?" he continued to ask.

"Indeed, I am very confused as to why you called me," Mufasa replied.

"For the inheritance, the inheritance of the Greenseer," he said. As he spoke, his violet eyes turned emerald green.

"You know that my eyes can see almost everything, don't you? As long as I want to know, as long as I can spend time observing, I can see everything, including the past and the future."

"The All-Seeing Eye, that could be considered a god's ability," Mufasa said.

"Precisely, and only two types of people can inherit this ability: one is from House Stark, and the other is from the Dragonlord houses."

"House Stark? Dragonlord houses? Why?" Mufasa asked.

"The blood flowing in their veins is more suitable for this divine office," Brynden Rivers said.

"Divine office?" Mufasa asked again.

"Indeed, it is a divine office! But it will not affect your other work. It will only provide you with convenience."

"Why choose me?" Mufasa asked.

"Didn't you choose Brandon Stark before?"

"Indeed, Brandon Stark is of House Stark, flowing with the blood of the direwolf, and you, Mufasa Lannister, not only have the blood of the lion flowing within you but also the blood of the dragon."

"Perhaps you have already sensed it; your mother is Aerys's bastard daughter. The bloodline of the Dragonlord houses has also been passed down to you."

"Of course, I won't force you, as inheriting this power has other drawbacks, such as being desperately sought by the Night King. If he kills you, your abilities will be taken by him."

"Just imagine what it would be like if the Night King possessed the Greenseer's abilities."

Mufasa couldn't imagine what kind of world that would be.

"So, you choose. Are you willing to become my successor? This process will take some time," Brynden Rivers asked.

Mufasa considered it carefully. He couldn't contact the people at Castle Black now, and traversing Beyond the Wall alone on foot would be extremely dangerous.

He had no choice.

"I am willing."

"Good, then without further ado, let's begin! The inheritance ceremony cannot be interrupted midway."

After Brynden Rivers finished speaking, the surrounding tree roots suddenly became soft and long like vines, binding Mufasa as well.

Mufasa chose not to resist and instead relaxed his body. He was bound like an infant in swaddling clothes.

At Castle Black, the Nights Watch began to pressure Ser Kevan to hand over command.

They surrounded Ser Kevan's room, preventing him from coming out.

"Ser Kevan, this is at the foot of the Wall. Those familiar with this place are us, the Nights Watch. You can help, but the overall commander must be one of our own. Lord Commander Mormont is highly respected, and it is most fitting for him to serve as the front-line commander," Officer Wedgwood said.

He had always been a hardliner within the Nights Watch, even suggesting that the Nights Watch only needed to send a hundred Rangers to completely rout a hundred thousand wildlings.

Ser Kevan looked through the window at the dozens of Nights Watchmen outside. He knew that if he didn't change his attitude, they might rush in and hack him to death.

Just as he was about to open the door to speak a few words,

Several cavalrymen charged through the main gate. They were clad in heavy armor, with only their sharp eyes visible.

"Flying Bear Army!" someone shouted.

"General Lü Bu invites Ser Kevan to dine at the Knights Mess Hall. Please make way," a Flying Bear Army rider said.

His fierce aura intimidated several Nights Watchmen.

With a creak, the door opened. Ser Kevan, escorted by several Lannister soldiers, arrived at the Knights Mess Hall.

Lü Bu and others were there, eating meat heartily and drinking wine from large bowls, thoroughly enjoying themselves.

"Ser Kevan, I apologize, we started without you! Please, have a seat!" Lü Bu said.

"General Lü Bu, what is all this?" Kevan asked, looking at the seemingly cheerful group.

"Lady Melisandre saw our liege, Mufasa, in the flames just now. He is unharmed," Lü Bu said.

"liege, a very special title. This word is similar to 'lord' and 'duke.' Why do you call Mufasa that? And you don't seem to be from Westeros; are you from the East?"

"That's right, we are from the mysterious East," Lü Bu said.
