Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Olga Marie's Secret

"You have all been selected from various nations, or discovered to possess rare—"

Within the absolute core area of Chaldea.

The pseudo-global environment model, CHALDEAS, hung high in the air, emitting a continuous, wave-like pale blue glow.

Just so.

A white-haired young girl with a ponytail, dressed in a yellow and black formal dress, stood alone before CHALDEAS.

Her expression was stern and serious. Even though the shapely curves of her chest remained eye-catching despite the forceful concealment of her loose dress, it was difficult to change the first impression that she was not someone easy to get along with.

The girl's name was Olga Marie Animusphere, the current Director of Chaldea.

This moment was the mobilization briefing before the departure to Singularity F.

Olga Marie would absolutely not tolerate anyone dropping the ball at a time like this!

However—

zZZ

A strange snoring sound drifted over at this exact moment.

Olga Marie quickly locked onto the direction of the sound—only to see an orange-haired girl dozing off, her head bobbing up and down, looking just like she was fishing.

Olga Marie was furious.

One must realize this was the life's work of her father and the trustworthy Professor Lev; it was an epoch-making operation for Chaldea and all of humanity.

At a time like this, one should have their eyes wide open, memorizing every single detail!

Olga Marie walked briskly toward where the orange-haired girl was.

Clap!

A crisp slap resounded.

Olga Marie ruthlessly woke up the orange-haired girl who was dozing off at such a time.

"Take this person away!"

"Remove her from the operation completely!"

Olga Marie's status in Chaldea was, naturally, self-evident.

As soon as she finished shouting, Chaldea staff members dragged the half-asleep girl away. Leaving along with her was a pink-haired girl with glasses.

"Fujimaru Ritsuka."

Before the other party was taken away, Olga Marie glanced at the nametag on her chest.

"If we relied on this kind of person for the operation, we'd absolutely be doomed—"

"Enough."

Retracting that momentary hostility, Olga Marie refocused all her attention on the mobilization before her.

"Everyone, I hope you will not be as sloppy as she was."

Olga Marie said this, but discreetly pinched her own hand.

It seemed to be a way to keep herself awake.

Time passed.

"Everyone, the stakes are high."

"Please, you must face Chaldea's Spiritron Transfer experiment this time with the utmost seriousness."

Having delivered the final summary, Olga Marie watched the Master candidates walk out of the core area one by one.

But with every person that left, her expression shifted slightly.

As the last person departed, Olga Marie immediately gathered her things and hurriedly walked in a direction away from the crowd, as if she were fleeing.

Going against the flow, she finally arrived at the restroom.

However—

The Olga Marie in the mirror above the sink no longer had the high-spirited appearance from just moments ago.

It was replaced by a haggard look that made one feel dispirited just looking at it.

"So disgusting..."

She covered her throat.

Just as the moon has an unknown dark side, Olga Marie also had secrets that could not be spoken.

She was, in fact, very weak.

As the current Director of Chaldea, Olga Marie inevitably wanted to imitate or even surpass her father—the former Director, Marisbury Animusphere.

But she soon tragically discovered that compared to her father who committed suicide, she was far too inferior.

Reason, conduct, and even planning for the future.

In everything, she was completely unqualified; even becoming his shadow was an unattainable wish.

But...

Even knowing this reality, not a single word could be mentioned.

From the moment she inherited Chaldea after the funeral and became the new Director, the word "weakness" had completely disappeared from Olga Marie's dictionary.

After all, if she, as the Director, appeared submissive and timid, Chaldea might as well disband right there and then.

A blessing in disguise, today was a perfect turning point.

If the Spiritron Transfer experiment could succeed, everyone's attention would only be focused on the Singularity that was closely linked to the future.

Whatever dark thoughts she had in the past or present would be buried.

For her father, for the family, and especially for herself, no errors would be allowed this time!

However, looking back, that slap she gave Fujimaru Ritsuka today seemed a bit too heavy.

Calming down, Olga Marie looked at her hand, inevitably feeling a bit of guilt in her heart.

If there's a chance later, I should explain it to her a little—

Of course, I have to warn her too.

Sleeping or whatever, that was simply too excessive.

And speaking of which—

Where is that assistant named Ian, whom I specifically selected from Team A?

Normally speaking, he should have been by my side for the entire meeting.

But I didn't see him at all just now.

Hiss...

Olga Marie touched her waist, revealing a slightly pained expression.

Time to take medicine.

One pill should be enough to keep me calm until the Spiritron Transfer experiment ends.

Olga Marie undid two buttons of her dress, then reached inside, rummaging through a pocket in her underwear—she couldn't put the medicine on the outside where it could be easily discovered.

However...

The bottle that should have contained the medicine was now empty.

Why is it empty?

It's usually there.

Olga Marie covered her forehead and suddenly understood.

Ian didn't remind me. In the past, he would have delivered it to me right on time.

This is bad.

If I go find that guy Roman now, will I miss the start of the Spiritron Transfer experiment?

How could the ball be dropped at a time like this?

Olga Marie, what are you doing?!

That fear of imperfection felt due to her own mistakes once again surfaced in the girl's heart.

"No, it absolutely cannot be like this..."

"I have to go find medicine immediately..."

Just as Olga Marie turned around, a figure appeared before her at just the right moment.

"Director, your medicine."

"Eh?"

Seeing the man before her, Olga Marie's tightly furrowed brows finally relaxed.

This enigmatic sense of salvation was probably something only she could understand.

Wait a minute...

"This is the women's restroom!"

"How did you just..."

"Director, that is not important." The man smiled politely. "The key is that the medicine has arrived, isn't it?"

"I brought water, too."

"..."

Looking at the man in front of her who was very much to her taste—one could even say he was practically her ideal type—a rare blush rose on Olga Marie's cheeks.

She felt that if the status of Director wasn't standing in the way, she might really have had something going on with him.

But...

There are no "ifs" in this world.

"You're right..." Olga Marie took the medicine and water, burying all her thoughts deep in her heart.

"It would be troublesome if I couldn't make it to the venue later."

Gulp.

Gulp.

Olga Marie's throat moved slightly.

"Phew—"

"That's much better. Thanks to you."

Olga Marie let out a long sigh of relief, but soon felt a sensation of her hair standing on end.

"Ian, what is with that expression?"

This premonition that something was wrong soon turned into reality.

After confirming that she had taken the medication, the man walked towards Olga Marie step by step, until he forced her back against the sink.

"Ian, what are you doing?" With her lower back pressed against the edge of the sink, Olga Marie was somewhat at a loss.

"It's simple."

A red light flickered faintly in the man's eyes.

He gently caressed the girl's waist, then spoke softly.

"I just want to obtain something from the Director."

"For example—"

"Your first time."
