Dante's reaction was different.
"He used the FBI to destroy us," he said that night, pacing our bedroom. "Alexei Volkov turned the federal government into his personal attack dog, and we lost everything because of it."
"We got it back. We're free. We're alive."
"We lost three years, Isabella. Three years of our lives. Three years with Sofia. Tony's entire relationship with us. The Commission. Everything. Because of him."
"And if we retaliate? If we go after Volkov? What then? We start another war? Risk everything we've rebuilt? Risk going back to prison this time with evidence that isn't fabricated?"
"So we just let it go? Pretend it didn't happen?"
"No. We acknowledge it happened. We accept that it's unfair. And then we choose not to let it control our lives. We choose to move forward instead of backward."
Dante stopped pacing. Looked at me like I'd grown a second head.
"Who are you and what have you done with my wife?"
