Her father was a kind and loving man. However, when it came to the safety of his family, he wouldn't hesitate to retaliate, even killing anyone who tried to harm him or their family.
"Damn it! Is your kindness just a facade?!" The group leader said.
"You started it first." Her father said.
Despite his masterful sword skills, he was still overwhelmed fighting four people at once. Slash after slash grazed each of their bodies.
Her father saw an opening and stabbed one of them in the heart. Another one was down, leaving three remaining.
"Damn it! Die, you damned elves!"
"You're the ones who are dead!"
Her father slashed another one of them through the throat. Only two remained.
Her father didn't actually want to hurt anyone. The reason he mingled with humans was because of his mother. His human mother died after giving birth to her daughter.
Because she didn't want her husband and child to feel lonely, she hoped that at least someone, whether an elf or a human, would accept them.
But, seeing as his daughter was a half-elf, it was certain she wouldn't be accepted by the elves due to their superiority. Her father knew that too.
But if it were a human, perhaps, that would be what they hoped for.
Unfortunately, not all humans were as kind-hearted as her mother. And this was what happened.
Although her father had no intention of harming anyone, if it meant saving his daughter's life, he would do anything.
Although his eyes were filled with pain and anger at being betrayed by the person he helped, a hint of sadness shone in them.
Gritting his teeth, her father tightened his grip and slashed at another person. There was only one person left now, the leader of the group.
Seeing no chance of victory, he chose to flee. But before he could run far, his back was bleeding and he lay on the ground.
With blood streaming from his face and body, her father breathed heavily. Although this wasn't the first time he had killed someone, he still felt uneasy.
"Father!" His daughter, who had been hiding, came out running towards him.
As her father was about to approach her, the leader of the group who was lying on the ground, suddenly rise and stabbed his sword into her father's back.
A large, deep wound was carved into her father's body.
"You think I'll die just like that?!" The leader of the group laughed.
Her father quickly turned around and beheaded the man. Mortally wounded, her father fell to his knees.
The girl screamed and ran to him. Seeing his daughter crying bitterly, he tried to calm her.
"It's okay. Father's okay."
"Father, you're seriously injured. I'll get you some medicine right away."
The girl immediately ran into her house and grabbed bandages and medicine. With a panicked expression, the little girl tried to treat her father's wound. Thanks to her father's teachings, she was able to do it.
Her father drank a painkiller, and she cleaned the open wound. She cried as she tried to stop the blood flowing from her father's wound. Her father could only smile sadly at her.
"Father said not all people are bad. But why did they do this to you? You've helped them!" The girl complained through tears.
"Are humans really good? Why don't you just be with the elves?"
Hearing this, her father looked at his daughter's sad face. His hand gently stroked her head.
"I'm sorry, for showing you this side."
"Father not wrong. There's no need to apologize." The little girl said in a small voice.
As she was still applying the medicine to her father, her face turned confused.
"Father, why won't the blood stop flowing?"
Hearing this, her father smiled bitterly. With a regretful expression, he explained to his daughter.
"Actually, medicine made by elves won't work on elves."
Hearing this, the girl was so shocked that her body froze. She looked at her father.
"No... no... Sob... sob... Father..." The girl cried uncontrollably.
"Forgive Father." Her father hugged her tightly.
"No... Father, you can't leave me..."
"Don't die, Father..."
Her father could no longer maintain the smile on his face.
"I'm sorry..." Her father cried with her.
With injuries like that, it was unclear how long her father could hold on. After a while, he held his little daughter's face.
"Okay, don't cry anymore, okay? You're a strong daughter, aren't you?" Her father said, trying to remain calm, though his voice was still sobbing.
Under the shining moon, the sight of her father covered in blood made tears flow uncontrollably from her eyes. The girl wiped her tears and tried to hold back her sobs. But she couldn't.
"We have to get out of here immediately."
Her father tried to get up. The girl helped support him.
Gathering their belongings, they left the house they had lived in for three years. They limped into the forest. Lighted by lanterns and moonlight, they continued walking.
They continued walking without stopping until dawn almost arrived. They finally arrived at a simple house far, far away from any residential area.
"Father, this is...?"
"Yes. This is our old home."
The simple house was the one they had lived in long before they moved to the nearby village. The house they had also shared with their mother.
Entering the dark, cold house, she laid her father down. The girl quickly put away the lantern and lit the firewood.
Although morning was approaching, the air was still chilly. Her father, who lay there, began coughing and bleeding from his mouth.
"Father, is there really no medicine for this?" The girl asked sadly.
"Actually, there is, maybe you can make it."
"But Father said that medicine made by elves doesn't work on other elves."
Her father stroked her head gently.
"Yes, that's true. But you're not a full elf. Maybe that might change something."
"Really?"
Her father nodded.
"So, should I try to make the medicine now?"
Her father shook his head.
"We don't have all the ingredients right now."
"Then I'll go find them."
Her father smiled regretfully.
"There won't be enough time."
The girl cried again.
"Then what can I do?!" The girl lowered her head, sobbing.
Her father wiped away the tears that were streaming down her face.
"There's something I want to tell you. Will you listen?"
"Shouldn't I go get the ingredients now?"
"No. I don't want you to go."
"But..."
Before the girl could finish, she looked her father in the eye.
"Listen to me, okay?"
The girl nodded.
