Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: Feeling Of Restlessness

After the incident was resolved, the villagers returned to their homes. A little girl with blue hair like her father's, who had been hiding behind the door, came out of the house and approached her father.

Seeing his worried daughter, her father hugged and reassured her.

"Did they hurt you, Father?"

"No, they helped me."

"Really? But they were all scary." The girl buried her face in her father's embrace.

He gently stroked her head.

"Everyone has that side. Not just humans, but everyone."

"But not all of them are evil. They're just afraid."

"Afraid?"

"Yes. Afraid of the truth they don't know."

"But what if they hurt you again?"

Seeing his daughter's worried face, her father smiled gently.

"Even so, I'm sure there will be some among them who will believe us."

Although her face still looked gloomy, she nodded.

Their days went on as usual. The villagers began to learn that her father was an elf. Those who did were initially skeptical. But as time passed, the villagers began to accept this.

However, this peace couldn't last forever. There were still those with evil thoughts. For some unknown reason, rumors spread among the villagers.

Rumors suggested that her father might be a spy from a hidden elven kingdom. There might be another war. And even rumors that her father might be testing drugs on humans. Rumors had no definitive truth.

Although on the surface they seemed innocent, no one knew what they were thinking.

A year passed.

With many people, such as merchants and explorers, coming in and out of the village, it was sometimes difficult to recognize people's faces.

Then one day, a group of men who looked like mercenaries arrived. They had come after being invited by the village chief and several villagers to accept a job.

A few days later, five men arrived at her father's house one night. They were a group of mercenaries who had been summoned.

"Excuse me! Help us!" One of them knocked repeatedly on the door in a panicked voice.

Her father immediately opened the door. There, he saw two people seriously injured and one man looking pale, as if poisoned.

"Please help us, sir. The village chief said that your medicine is very effective." Said one of their members.

"What happened?" His father told them to lay down their injured friends.

Two of their friends had been attacked by wild animals, and one had been bitten by a venomous snake.

After hearing the explanation and seeing how deep their wounds were, her father immediately prepared the medicine. After a few hours, their friends conditions had improved.

"They will be fully recovered in about two days." Her father said.

After seeing for themselves how effective his medicine was, the group of what appeared to be mercenaries gathered in a house to discuss the situation.

"The medicine is very effective. There aren't even any scars left."

"Yes, no doubt about it, because he's an elf."

"Then what?"

"It would be a shame to kill him. But if we take him and he betrays us..."

"Yes. He might be able to poison us without anyone knowing."

"And if the kingdom finds out, he might be able to dominate the world of medicine."

"Wait. His daughter is also an elf, right?"

"I think so."

"If it's the little girl, then we can make her submit.

"Yes, you're right."

"So, kill the father and control the daughter?"

"Not a bad idea. We might be able to control the medical market."

"Then it's best to settle things now."

After a brief discussion, they went to the village chief. They asked for payment in advance. The chief agreed, and they prepared for tonight's execution.

"Father, for some reason, my heart feels uneasy." The girl approached her father, who was burning wood.

"What's wrong? Are you feeling sick?" Her father asked, gently stroking her head.

"No, I'm not sick. But I feel very uneasy. Like something's bothering me, but I don't know what it is."

Seeing his daughter so restless, her father hugged her gently.

"Maybe you're sleepy, go to sleep." Her father said.

The girl entered her room.

In the silent night, the wind blew cold. In the darkness, several figures hid behind the large trees. The five men were the mercenaries who had asked for help three days earlier. They crept closer to their house.

Sensing something was amiss, her father who had been asleep, woke up.

He closed his eyes, trying to concentrate on his surroundings.

The men drew their swords. Once they reached the door, they broke it open as quietly as possible. Then they entered the house.

Despite their efforts to be as quiet as possible, the creaking sound of the wooden floorboards startled them. But since there seemed to be no movement from the owner of the house, they continued on their way.

They arrived at the door of a room suspected to be a bedroom. They opened the door as quietly as possible.

After the door opened, they were surprised because no one was inside. They also opened the room next to it, and no one was in sight.

With shocked eyes, they looked at each other.

Had the father and daughter left? Just as they were distracted by that thought, there was a figure in the darkness behind them.

A sword slashed one of them without warning. Blood poured from the back of one of the intruders who was cut, staining the wooden floor.

Surprised by the sound, the other four people turned their bodies. Above their friend who was lying on the floor dripping with blood, there was someone.

A sword covered in blood glistened in the moonlight that seeped in.

They saw the figure holding the sword.

Blue hair and blue eyes that looked cold looking towards them. Long earlobes that humans do not have.

Her father, an elf who was known as a good pharmacist.

Seeing this, the leader of the group looked angry. The four of them advanced to attack her father.

The sound of clashing swords rang out.

Wound after wound began to appear on their body. Blood began to flow.

Seeing her father from behind the door, fighting and injured, made the girl cry. As she cried silently, she could do nothing to help her father.
