Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Mark

With a roar to the sky, the black Giant Ape vented its inner ferocity, gradually stopping and glancing around.

Every monster around was now lifeless, and the anger that filled the Giant Ape's brain began to fade. The red light in its eyes dimmed, returning to normal black pupils.

Simultaneously, the swollen muscles all over its body shrank back to normal, making the Giant Ape appear smaller.

Although it had left the angered state, Jiang Hou maintained the Giant Ape form, seemingly able to switch freely without a time limit.

ZZZZZZ!!

A sudden sting came from the back of the Giant Ape's hand. Looking down, it saw a circle of black fur on the back of its left hand burning under an invisible force, forming a black cross-shaped diamond mark in the blink of an eye.

At the same time, a wave of information flooded into the black Giant Ape's mind through the mark.

"The final step of the Life Transformation Ceremony is complete. The bloody trial is over, and the inheritance mark acquired allows entry and exit from the ruins with the cycle of the sun and moon."

"The marked bearer must go to the Divine Hall of Inheritance to activate it, becoming a true Inheritor of the Ancient Era and embarking on the eternal Path of Gods and Demons."

"Life Transformation Ceremony..." The black Giant Ape paused slightly, looking back at that giant bone in the distance, its gaze falling on the Blood Array.

CRACK!!

Cracks appeared on the bone, spreading along its entire length, before collapsing with a thunderous echo in the eyes of the black Giant Ape, shattering into countless chunks of varying sizes.

Indeed, its resurrection and the beast bloodline were related to that Blood Array.

Now the ceremony was complete, and the bone's power was exhausted. Woosh! The Giant Ape snorted out a hot breath, bursting with more questions within.

Ruins, inheritance mark, Divine Hall, Path of Gods and Demons... But before the black Giant Ape could ponder more, a strong hunger erupted from within.

So hungry!

The black Giant Ape swallowed, as the sudden hunger was incredibly strong, feeling like it could devour a whole cow in one bite.

GULP! The Giant Ape swallowed again, eyes fixated on the monster corpse in its hand.

The wound where the monster was ripped was oozing dark red blood foam, the scent of fresh blood inexplicably smelling somewhat appealing to the black Giant Ape.

Should... be edible?

The black Giant Ape looked around, finding nothing to eat in the desolate wilderness, not even wood or weeds to start a fire.

Meanwhile, the hunger within grew stronger, its stomach hollowed by hunger, clearly stemming from the talent explosion earlier.

No matter, just a taste.

With that thought, the black Giant Ape suppressed its reluctance to eat raw meat, opened its mouth wide, and revealed its four fang-like tusks and a row of compact sharp teeth.

THRASH!! With one bite, the rich fragrance of blood overwhelmed the Giant Ape's taste buds.

It seems... somewhat delicious.

The Giant Ape fiercely tore a chunk of meat from the Black Ant Ferocious Beast, chewing slowly, then realizing the taste was indeed good, so it couldn't help but swallow and bite again.

Hmm, very savory. The black Giant Ape devoured eagerly.

Whether due to a difference in biological structure or simply the meat of these monstrous beasts being quite tasty, the more the black Giant Ape ate, the more delicious it seemed, eating faster with each bite.

As digestion continued, the overwhelming hunger eased, with a faint warm current spreading from its stomach throughout its body.

Before long, the two Black Ant Ferocious Beasts were fully devoured by the black Giant Ape, instinctively glancing at other corpses next.

Eat, relentlessly eat.

On the desolate cracked earth, the black Giant Ape ripped apart the corpses of one ferocious beast after another, tearing and swallowing in huge bites, creating a gruesome scene.

It took two hours to finish fourteen ferocious beasts, bones and entrails scattered everywhere, before the black Giant Ape finally stopped, slightly dissatisfied.

"Finally, full."

Hmm, it feels as though that collapsed wall ahead seems a bit shorter. The black Giant Ape's eyes revealed confusion, gazing at the ruins dozens of meters ahead.

Those ferocious beasts had climbed out from there.

Before the buildings collapsed, they must have been magnificent. Now, just the remaining foundation stood over ten meters high, several stone pillars stretching tens of meters tall.

But the black Giant Ape felt oddly as though the buildings appeared smaller compared to before.

No, it wasn't the buildings that shrunk, it had grown taller.

Reacting to this, the Giant Ape mentally summoned the attribute page, noticing the remark in the bloodline section became [Juvenile form, ordinary Giant Beast, current height five meters three].

Not only did its Giant Beast form change, but the human form data updated as well.

Strength increased from 21 to 29, agility became 18, and defense enhanced by 3 points, among which strength rose most significantly.

Devouring more than a dozen Black Ant Ferocious Beasts, the converted biological energy not only replenished the expenditure from its explosive burst but also made it grow bigger and taller, with a significant attribute surge.

This is the effect of the passive talent 'Evolution', excellent, very robust. The black Giant Ape's lips curled into a grim smile.

In this resurrection, the Giant Ape bloodline acquired was merely a transformation ability.

What truly granted it unlimited potential was the inconspicuous talent 'Devour Evolution' underneath, allowing it to evolve into terrifying Giant Beasts spanning thousands or even tens of thousands of meters.

With such thoughts, a hint of expectation gleamed in the black Giant Ape's eyes.

Every man has fantasized in childhood about possessing great power, flying, escaping, causing mountains to crumble and ground to crack with a wave, standing above all beings.

But fantasies are just fantasies, in reality, everyone is ordinary, at most cutting down a field of rapeseed to vent their destructive desires.

But now, when Jiang Hou truly mastered Extraordinary Power and could transform into a giant beast at will, the feeling in his heart was indescribable.

If I had to describe it in one word, it would be exhilarating, incredibly exhilarating!

Whoosh!

After calming his excitement, the black giant ape looked towards the ruins of a building, hesitated slightly, and then, with heavy steps, slowly walked over.

Unfortunately, apart from some weathered foundations, the ruins only consisted of a few broken stone pillars, with a dark, foul-smelling hole in the center.

That ground hole was clearly a den of Black Ant Beasts, but a bit small, with only a one-meter diameter, too tight to enter.

Bang bang!! The black giant ape grabbed a stone pillar and nimbly climbed upwards, quickly reaching the top, over fifty meters high, and looked around.

In the giant ape form, his vision was somewhat improved, able to vaguely see a few hundred meters.

But aside from the spreading black mist surrounding him, there was still nothing to be seen, only dead silence and oppression, like a world trapped in an apocalypse of despair.

The black giant ape fell silent, and then prepared to leave.

Too much had happened today, he needed to go back and gather his thoughts, but before leaving, he had something to take with him.

Thump!

The ground shook as the black giant ape leaped down from dozens of meters high, then ran like a human in large strides, quickly reaching the heap of collapsed bones and stones.

He searched and found his phone between two large rocks.

At the moment of the earlier transformation, Jiang Hou's clothes had turned into scattered pieces, but fortunately, his Huolong-brand phone was durable and shock-resistant, suffering only a few scratches on the back.

Buzz! The back of the giant ape's hand emitted a faint black glow, and the surrounding space rippled like a lake, creating concentric transparent waves.

Simultaneously, in the real world, a massive figure appeared out of thin air in a dark alley, but soon the giant form shrunk swiftly like a deflated balloon.

In a blink, Jiang Hou returned to his normal state, the black hair on his body completely gone.

If it weren't for some residual dark red bloodstains on his body, he might have thought everything that just happened was a dream.

At that moment, a figure riding an e-bike appeared at the entrance of the alley, looking ahead in surprise at the darkness: "The streetlights on this road aren't on today?" he said, turning on the high beam, instantly illuminating the entire alley.

The moment the delivery guy turned on the high beam, something seemed to flit by in the distance, but upon closer inspection, there was nothing.

"Weird, was I seeing things?" The delivery man shook his head, riding his e-bike through the alley.

"Phew, almost got seen."

Among the trees behind the alley wall, Jiang Hou cautiously looked around and relaxed only after confirming that no one was around.

With nearly 30 points of strength and 18 agility, Jiang Hou's physical condition surpassed ordinary people even in his normal state, allowing him to leap over the more than two-meter-high wall effortlessly.

This gated community was also where he lived.

Because it was a twenty-year-old community, lush with trees and dim lights, and it was already ten at night with few pedestrians, it was very quiet.

This convenience suited Jiang Hou perfectly, as he carefully moved along the wall, avoiding the road surveillance cameras, coming around the back of unit five of building one.

He was obviously not in a state to take the elevator and looked up to the fourth floor, where his room was located.

Jiang Hou, with his phone in his mouth, grabbed the exposed drainpipe with both hands, and his strong grip allowed him to climb up easily, reaching the fourth floor without any danger. He pulled open the unlocked window and climbed inside.

Once he stepped onto the room floor, Jiang Hou's tense spirit finally relaxed completely: "Finally home."

His room was quite spacious, with a wardrobe along one side, a double bed in the middle leaving a 1.5-meter-wide walkway, and a desk by the window.

Jiang Hou first took a few tissue papers from the table to wipe his hands, then opened the wardrobe to take out his pajamas and an old piece of clothing to wrap around his waist.

Having done all that, Jiang Hou opened the door a crack to look outside.

The light in the hallway was dim, with only a spotlight on in the living room.

"No one's there." Jiang Hou's eyes lit up, swiftly opened the door, and dashed into the adjacent bathroom in two steps.

He closed the door, turned on the shower, and soon hot water sprayed out, washing away the dried bloodstains on Jiang Hou's body, turning into dark red muddy water flowing into the drain.

This monster blood was already dead matter, apart from its stink it had no harmful substances, so there was no worry of causing 'pollution' by washing it down the drain.

Feeling the warmth of the hot water on his body, Jiang Hou slowly began to recall everything that had happened today.

Especially the feeling of transforming into a giant ape, including the state of anger.

Even in the anger form, he retained some rationality, but couldn't control the anger in his heart, akin to a real giant beast of madness and recklessness, fearless of anything.

Particularly when smashing those monsters, the feeling was incredibly satisfying.

And don't be fooled by how easily he crushed those Black Ant Beasts; they were actually quite strong, moving twice as fast as ordinary people, with a burst strength of several hundred kilograms when they struggled in his grasp.

Their bodies were tough, their scale armor comparable to iron sheets.

Coupled with claws that left deep scratches on rocks, ordinary people encountering them would face one-sided slaughter unless they had a gun.

But the strength of the giant ape form was even more formidable, with tough skin and a fivefold increase in power in the state of anger, which is why the strength of the giant ape form was so exaggerated.

In the eruption state of talent, Jiang Hou felt that if he punched with all his might, the impact would be dozens of tons, maybe even up to a hundred tons, enough to destroy a building with just a few hits.

Of course, that building would be a two- or three-story civilian structure.
