Hearing the door close, Evelyn finally opened her eyes.
Her nose tingled with a sour feeling. She really wanted to yell at Caden Lockwood and ask him what he truly wanted.
But she still didn't have the courage.
She thought she would have the right to ask him only after making a series of efforts, right?
At the moment, she really didn't want to engage in this uncertain battle.
As Evelyn lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep, she noticed that there was no noise outside and couldn't help but get up. In the living room, everyone had already eaten and drunk their fill and went back to their rooms to rest.
Evelyn looked around but didn't see Caden Lockwood.
Guessing he should be in the study now, she went to the kitchen to make a cup of milk, and then walked toward the study.
After knocking on the door and hearing Caden Lockwood's voice, Evelyn felt much more at ease.
Seeing Caden was indeed busy with work, Evelyn felt a bit relieved.
