Although he said that, he took out a black card with the other hand, holding it in front of Sierra Summers.

Sierra Summers was first startled by the black card, then by the aggrieved tone in Caleb Sterling's next words. Or maybe it wasn't grievance; Sierra Summers had never heard Caleb speak to her in such a low and dissatisfied tone.
