Reed's POV
Lorelei seemed taken aback.
She'd gone out of her way to help me, after all. How could I just walk away like that?
I could see her face cloud over as the thought crossed her mind.
"Reed, let me drive you home. I'm concerned about you... and Romano probably won't settle down for the night until he sees you're okay."
Her words barely registered. My thoughts were consumed by one devastating reality - Jenifer had actually posted bail for Kolton.
Jenifer was really with Kolton?
Impossible. She loved me. Even if I'd let her down, she had Romano to think about - she'd never walk away from Romano.
"Reed? Where did you go?" When I didn't answer, Lorelei's fingers brushed against my hand.
I blinked, focusing on her confused expression. "Lorelei... what is it?"
Masking her irritation behind a mask of worry, Lorelei gazed at me with feigned concern. "Reed, you're making me nervous. Let me get you home... seeing you hurt like this breaks my heart."
