Jenifer's POV
Both Reed and Romano rushed to Lorelei's side.
"Lorelei, are you all right?"
"Lorelei, are you hurt?"
Their worried voices collided in the air.
"I'm fine, Reed," Lorelei whispered, her voice barely audible, tears pooling in her eyes, her complexion ghostly pale. "Jenifer didn't mean to do it. Please don't blame her. She must have just been so upset that she pushed me by accident."
Her fragile tone and martyr-like expression made both Reed and Romano's hearts clench with concern.
For just a second, I felt a stab of remorse.
But then the burning sensation in my arm brought me back to reality. When Lorelei had grabbed me, it felt like being stabbed with a pin. Now, I could sense warm blood seeping through my sleeve.
Lorelei had orchestrated this whole thing.
I looked down at Lorelei, sprawled dramatically among the scattered seafood. Our eyes locked. Hers sparkled with smug satisfaction.
