We moved away to find somewhere else to continue talking.
Romano looked stunned when I didn't acknowledge him or give him any attention—I simply walked away.
Panicking that I might actually leave, he sprinted forward to block my path.
Sharp pain blazed through my leg, and my unsteady balance in heels sent me crashing down to my knees.
Thump.
The noise wasn't particularly loud, but it drew every eye in the vicinity.
Agony from my knee stabbed straight into my skull, and I broke into a cold sweat, trapped on the ground and unable to rise for several moments.
"Ms. Zach, are you okay?" Grace reacted first. She rushed over, dropped down next to me, and asked anxiously.
Grace's eyes widened in alarm, and I knew she understood how serious the fall had been.
The nearby guests immediately swarmed around us.
Someone who recognized me quickly moved to help me back to my feet.
Even standing, my legs shook so violently I could barely remain upright.
