Jenifer's POV
He finally stammered out some pathetic excuse that even he didn't seem to buy. "Lorelei just got back and didn't have anyone, so I stayed with her."
"And who stayed with me?" I shot back, keeping my eyes locked on his.
Reed went silent.
I could see it dawning on him—I really had been completely alone.
Before he even knew I was a Zach, I was just some orphan nobody wanted.
When I married him, I had zero friends, zero family. Even his parents treated me like garbage. Back then, I had absolutely no one in my corner. Reed was literally all I had.
"Don't you think you're being a complete hypocrite, Reed? You keep claiming you love me, but what have you actually done to prove it?" I said.
"If that's your idea of love, it makes me sick," I added.
The disgust I felt must have shown clearly on my face, because something shifted in his expression. He looked like I'd slapped him. Apparently, he never thought I could actually hate him this much.
