After wrapping up work discussions with Morgan, I headed out of Fred Group.
Next on my agenda was prepping for Fred Group's inaugural fireworks show.
But I looked down at the wheelchair I was stuck in, annoyance bubbling up inside me.
Launching fireworks from this contraption isn't exactly feasible, I realized. Even with all my medical expertise, I can't magically heal a fractured bone overnight.

That evening, Lorelei showed up at Gould Villa.
Reed was still out, and Callan had disappeared somewhere, likely socializing. Only Eliza remained in the living room with Romano, both absorbed in reading.
Spotting Lorelei, Eliza managed a polite greeting despite her obvious lack of enthusiasm. "Lorelei, you made it."
The previous warmth had completely evaporated.
Lorelei picked up on Eliza's cold reception immediately. But that's precisely why she'd come tonight—to win back Eliza's favor.
