Jenifer's POV
I watched him carefully, trying to decode whatever scheme Reed had brewing. Honestly, I couldn't make sense of what he was pulling.
'He just finished interrogating me about skipping the divorce proceedings, and now all of a sudden he's claiming he doesn't want to divorce?'
I thought, bewildered. 'Is this some kind of joke to him?
Does he think I'm his personal entertainment? Just because he decides we're staying married, I'm supposed to go along with it?'
"Jenifer, what's between Lorelei and me isn't what you think it is. Could you please stop constantly jumping to the wrong conclusions?" Reed said, exhaustion heavy in his voice, as if I was just being difficult for the sake of it.
I'd lost count of how many times we'd had this exact conversation. Every single time Reed talked to me, he'd wear that same fed-up, tired expression.
I couldn't understand what I'd ever done to earn that kind of look from him.
