Lilian's POV
"Lilian Sterling, I knew that was you." Ashley's voice rang out behind me, dripping with false sweetness as her eyes swept over my appearance. "I thought I recognized you sitting there all by yourself. What brings you out here today?"
My stomach dropped. If Ashley was here, Augusto couldn't be far behind. Before I could even process that thought fully, she reached back and dragged him forward with a practiced smile.
"Augusto, look who I found," she chirped. "It's Lilian."
Augusto stared at me with those cold, distant eyes, his face completely blank. He looked at me like I was nothing more than a stranger on the street.
Ashley wrapped her arm around his and tilted her head with mock concern. "Augusto, she used to be your wife. You should at least acknowledge her."
Heat flooded my cheeks at her words. The way she said it made our entire marriage sound like some trivial footnote in his life.
