Chapter 10 - Four Years Buried

JAY-JAY POV

By the time we reached the school backyard, Aries was already there, arms crossed, eyes sharp.

"Hi, Aries," I said, waving awkwardly.

"Why the hell did you take forever to come here?" Aries snapped, his voice cutting through the air.

Before I could even open my mouth, Keifer answered smoothly, calm as ever. "She wanted to eat, so we had to grab a quick snack in the cafeteria."

Aries' glare shifted from me to Keifer, his jaw tight

Aries' glare shifted from me to Keifer, his jaw tight, like he was holding back something dangerous.

"Anyways, sit over there," Aries ordered, his tone sharp, leaving no room for argument.

Keifer and I exchanged a look—his calm, mine nervous—and without a word, we moved to the spot he pointed at.

The silence was heavy, pressing down on me as we sat.

Aries stood there, arms crossed, eyes locked on us like we were suspects in an interrogation.

My stomach twisted.

This isn't just a casual talk.

He's serious.

Keifer leaned back in his chair, smirk tugging faintly at his lips, like he was daring Aries to make his move.

I, on the other hand, clutched my sandwich tighter, wishing I could disappear into the bread.

"Okay, you're dating my sister," Aries started, his tone sharp, commanding. "And I have some rules you have to follow."

My stomach dropped.

Rules?

Oh no.

Keifer leaned back casually, smirk tugging at his lips, like he was already prepared for this interrogation.

Aries' eyes narrowed, his voice steady but dangerous. "Rule one: Don't make her cry. Ever. If she sheds a tear because of you, will answer my fits."

I groaned, cheeks burning. "Aries, please—"

"Rule two," he snapped, cutting me off, eyes locked on Keifer. "Don't touch her every five minutes. Especially in front of me."

My jaw dropped.

Every five minutes?!

Keifer leaned back, smirk tugging at his lips. "Hard to control myself when she's too pretty."

The air snapped like a live wire.

Keifer leaned back, smirk tugging at his lips. "Hard to control myself when she's too pretty."

The air snapped like a live wire.

Aries' glare sharpened, his fists clenching at his sides. "You think this is funny?"

Keifer's smirk deepened, calm as ever. "Not funny. Just true."

I squeaked, cheeks burning, clutching my sandwich tighter. "Can we not do this right now?!"

Aries stepped closer, his voice rising. "You're shameless. In front of me, in front of everyone—you don't care!"

Keifer tilted his head, eyes steady. "I care. That's why I don't hide it."

My heart thudded, chaotic and loud.

Oh no.

He's provoking him.

Aries' jaw tightened, his voice sharp as a blade. "If you keep this up, Keifer, I swear—"

Keifer cut him off, voice low, dangerous in its calm. "You swear what?"

The air snapped, heavy and electric. Aries' fist clenched, his body shifting forward—he was about to punch him.

I shot up from my seat, heart pounding, sandwich forgotten. "STOP!" I shouted, planting myself between them.

Aries froze, his fist hovering mid‑air, eyes blazing.

Keifer didn't flinch, didn't move, just sat there with that infuriating smirk tugging at his lips.

"Are you two insane?!" I cried , voice shaking. "We're at school! Do you want the entire Section E to hear about this?!"

Aries' glare stayed locked on Keifer, his chest rising and falling like he was holding back a storm.

Keifer leaned back, calm as ever, his voice smooth. "I wasn't going to hit him first."

"Keifer!" I hissed, spinning toward him. "You're not helping!"

Aries growled low, his fist finally dropping to his side. "You're lucky she stopped me."

I threw my hands up, desperate to cut the tension. "Enough, Aries. Just… continue with your rules."

His glare flicked from Keifer back to me, sharp and unrelenting. "Fine. Rule three—no sneaking out at night. Or you can't take her anywhere at night."

Keifer leaned back, smirk tugging at his lips. "That's going to be difficult. She's the one who sneaks out—I just follow."

Aries' eyes narrowed, his voice rising. "Then stop following! She's my sister, not your midnight adventure!"

I groaned, cheeks burning. "Can we not make me sound like a criminal right now?"

Keifer's calm voice slid in, smooth and steady. "She's not a criminal. She's mine."

Aries bristled, fists tightening again. "You think this is a joke? These rules are serious."

Keifer's smirk deepened, dangerous in its calm. "I don't break rules. I bend them."

The air snapped, chaotic and heavy.

Aries growled low, his glare locked on Keifer. "Rule four is coming next. And trust me—you won't like it."

Keifer pushed back his chair, standing tall, voice sharp but calm. "These rules are dumb. You and I both know I won't follow them."

The air cracked with tension.

Aries shot up instantly, fists clenched, his whole body bristling like a storm about to break. "You think you can disrespect me and still stand next to my sister?"

Keifer's smirk faded into something colder. He stepped closer, eyes steady. "I don't need your permission to love her."

My pulse spiked, panic clawing at my chest.

I shoved myself between them, arms spread wide. "Stop it! Both of you!"

Aries' jaw tightened, his glare burning through Keifer. "You're reckless. You'll hurt her."

I shoved them apart, my voice breaking through the tension.

"This isn't about me—this is about you!" I yelled, chest heaving.

Both of them froze, eyes snapping toward me.

"I don't know what your problem is, but stop dragging me into it or using me as an excuse to fight!" I shouted, my voice shaking with frustration.

Their silence was heavy, but I pressed on, heart pounding. "If this is really about the accident that happened four years ago, then ask Percy. He knows what really happened. He's the only one who can give you clarity."

Aries stiffened, his glare faltering for the first time.

"Percy…" he muttered, the name tasting bitter on his tongue.

Keifer's smirk vanished, replaced by a sharp edge . "So that's it. You've been holding onto this grudge without even knowing the full story."

Aries' fists trembled, his voice cracking with anger and confusion. "Don't tell me Percy's been hiding something all this time."

I snapped back, frustration boiling over. "He hasn't held any secrets—it's just that you guys never bothered to ask him!"

I groaned, throwing my hands up. You guys have been fighting when the truth has been sitting with him all along. Stop blaming each other until you know what really happened."

Without waiting for their response, I turned on my heel and walked away, my footsteps echoing against the concrete.

Behind me, silence stretched—thick, suffocating.

KEIFER POV

After Jay stormed off, Aries was still glaring at me, his eyes burning like he wanted to set me on fire.

I didn't move.

Didn't flinch.

Just stood there, letting his rage crash against me like waves against stone.

"Fucking asshole," he spat, venom dripping from every word.

I stayed rooted, his fury blazing, but I'd learned how to stand in the flames.

"You think cursing me makes you stronger?" I said quietly, my tone steady, deliberate. "All it proves is that you've got nothing left."

Aries' jaw locked, teeth grinding. "If you'd asked me what really happened that day, we wouldn't be here now."

A cold laugh escaped me as I stepped closer, closing the gap until the air between us was razor‑thin. "What's there to ask when you caused it?"

His glare sharpened, voice cutting back. "No, Keifer. We're here because of you. You needed someone to blame, and you chose me. You never asked, never listened, never cared about the truth. You just pointed your finger and decided I was guilty."

My fists trembled, the weight of his words pressing down. "You don't understand what that day did to me."

He leaned in, voice low, deliberate, each syllable like a blade. "I understand perfectly. It broke you. But instead of facing it, you buried yourself in anger and dragged me down with you. That's not protection. That's cowardice."

My nostrils flared, chest rising and falling like a storm about to break. "Careful, Aries."

His glare didn't waver, but I cut through the silence, my voice steady, deliberate. "Let's call Percy and Yuri and get this over with."

Aries' fists clenched tighter, his jaw grinding like stone. "Fine."

I pulled out my phone, my fingers cold against the screen, and dialed.

"Percy. Yuri. Meet us in the school backyard. Now."

The words felt heavier than they should, like I'd just set off a chain reaction I couldn't stop.

Aries stood rigid beside me, his chest rising and falling like a storm waiting to break.

He didn't look at me, didn't speak—just stared at the ground.

Yuri came first, arms crossed, gaze sharp and suspicious.

"What is this about?" he asked, his tone clipped, eyes narrowing at me like he was already judging.

"Just wait until Percy comes," I said, my voice steady, deliberate.

He didn't argue.

Just nodded once, leaning back against the wall, arms still folded like a shield.

His silence was heavy, his stare unyielding.

Minutes dragged like hours.

Every sound—the rustle of leaves, the distant chatter from the school—felt amplified, pressing down on us.

Then came Percy, swaggering into the backyard like he owned the place. "Keifer missed my beautiful face, you had to call me," he said, smirking.

I rolled my eyes, the weight of his joke cutting against the storm brewing between me and Aries. "Don't flatter yourself. You're here because we need answers, not entertainment."

Percy's grin faltered, his gaze flicking between us. "Answers, huh? So this is about that day."

Aries' fists clenched tighter, his jaw grinding like stone. "Finally. Tell us what really happened."

Percy's smirk faded completely, his tone shifting. "You're asking for the truth after four years?"

"You disappeared for four years," Yuri corrected, his voice sharp, arms still crossed.

Percy snapped, pointing at him. "Shut up. I didn't ask for your concern."

Yuri didn't say anything, just stood there with his arms crossed, gaze sharp and unreadable.

The silence between them was heavier than the fight itself.

I caught it—the way Percy's anger wasn't just about today. It was about her. Freya.

Percy's jaw tightened, his glare locked on Yuri like he wanted to tear him apart. "Don't act like you're innocent. You know damn well why I don't want you speaking."

Yuri's eyes narrowed, but he didn't bite back.

He just stood there, calm, dangerous, letting Percy's rage burn itself out.

"Enough. Fight later, then you can resolve your matters," Aries said, his voice sharp, trying to cut through the storm.

Percy finally exhaled, his smirk gone, his tone heavy. "Fine. Here's the truth. Aries didn't push me that day. I pushed him. I voluntarily saved Aries—he was only trying to save me."

The words slammed into me like a fist. My chest tightened, my fists loosening as disbelief clawed at me. "You… pushed him?" I said, my voice low, trembling

"I still don't understand why you guys blamed Aries," Percy shot back, his tone sharp.

"That's because Yuri said he saw you and Aries in the car before he fainted," I snapped.

Percy's glare cut into me. "That's your problem, Keifer. You don't listen to the truth—you always want to listen to some manipulative roster."

Yuri's eyes narrowed, his voice cold. "Don't you dare call me a manipulator."

Percy smirked, leaning forward. "And if I do?"

And then it happened—no holding back, no hesitation.

My fist flew first, slamming into Yuri.

He staggered, then came back at me hard, his punch cracking against my jaw.

Pain shot through my skull, but I didn't back down—I shoved him, rage boiling over.

Percy lunged in, grabbing Yuri by the collar, his own fist flying wild. "Stay off Keifer!" he snarled, knuckles splitting against Yuri's cheek.

The backyard erupted into chaos. Gravel crunched under our feet, shouts echoed, fists collided.

Then someone's swing went wide—catching Aries across the face.

Aries staggered, his eyes blazing, and that was it.

 He was in.

"Don't drag me into this!" he roared, but his fists were already clenched, his body already moving.

He shoved Percy back, then swung at me, and suddenly all four of us were tangled in the storm—rage, betrayal, years of silence detonating in one violent clash.

Percy's lip split, Yuri's knuckles bled, Aries' voice thundered, and my chest burned with every strike.

"Enough!" a voice cut through the chaos.

It was Jay.

But we didn't stop.

Percy's fist slammed into Yuri again, Yuri shoved him back, and Aries' elbow caught me in the ribs. My own knuckles cracked against Aries' jaw before I even thought about it.

Jay's voice rose, sharper, angrier. "I said ENOUGH!"

Still—we kept fighting. Gravel crunched under our feet, shouts echoed, fists collided. Percy snarled, blood dripping from his lip. Yuri's glare burned, his knuckles raw. Aries shoved me into the wall, rage blazing in his eyes.

Jay stormed forward, grabbing Percy by the collar, yanking him back. "You idiots are going to kill each other!"

Percy twisted free, his eyes blazing, fists already clenched. "Stay out of this, Jay! You don't get it!"

And then he came at us again—swinging wild, rage spilling out of him like fire.

Yuri met him head‑on, fists cracking against Percy's jaw.

Aries shoved Percy sideways, only for Percy to slam back into me, dragging me into the storm all over again.

Jay's voice roared above the chaos. "Stop it! Stop it now!"

But none of us listened.

We only stopped when the principal came. His voice cut through the madness like a blade. "Keifer, Yuri, Aries—stop."

The words hit harder than any punch.

My fists froze mid‑air, Aries staggered back, Yuri lowered his arms, and even Percy hesitated.

The principal's gaze swept over us, sharp and furious.

Then his finger jabbed toward Percy. "And who even are you?"

Percy wiped the blood from his lip, smirk flickering back despite the bruises. "Me? I'm the one who kept the truth buried for four years."

The principal's eyes narrowed, confusion flashing across his face. "That's not an answer."

"All five of you, come to my office," he said, his tone sharp, leaving no room for argument.

"Why? What did I do?" Jay asked, pointing at herself, her voice rising in disbelief.

"Miss Mariano—come," he ordered, his glare cutting through her protest.

We all looked at each other, bruised, bloodied, breaths ragged. No one spoke. The silence was heavier than the fight itself.

And then we followed him.
