Chapter 14 - When Silence Breaks

JAY-JAY POV

Keifer was there along with Percy, and I could hear Section E's voices upstairs, muffled but urgent.

"What the hell is this, Jay?" Keifer asked, his voice sharp, trembling underneath.

"Keifer…" I started, my throat tight, tears spilling faster. "It's complicated," I whispered, choking on the words.

He didn't wait for me to explain.

He hugged me.

His arms wrapped around me, strong, desperate, like he was holding me together because I couldn't do it myself.

I sobbed into his chest, clutching the necklace so hard it dug into my palm.

"Jay, the truth can't wait any longer," Percy said, his voice steady but urgent.

Keifer looked at him, his eyes sharp, demanding. "What truth?"

I swallowed hard, my throat tight, my tears refusing to stop. "Let's go to my house. I'll explain everything there."

Keifer hesitated, his jaw clenched, but then he nodded.

I picked up the hologram device, my hands trembling, and held it close like it was the only thing keeping me alive.

The room felt heavier, the silence pressing down as Section E's voices echoed faintly upstairs.

Percy didn't say anything—he already understood what was going on.

We left the chamber and I closed the door behind me, my hands trembling.

"Jay," Aries said, rushing forward to hug me. I hugged him back, my tears still fresh.

"What the hell are you doing here?" Aries asked, his voice sharp but laced with worry.

"I will explain everything at the house," I said quickly, my throat tight.

"I told Kuya you were missing," Aries added, his tone almost scolding.

"WHAT?" I gasped, clutching my chest dramatically.

"You really want me dead, don't you? You don't love your sister!" I wailed, crying louder as I threw myself into Percy's arms.

"Don't worry, sistah," Percy said with a grin, patting my back like I was a child. "Your handsome kuya will protect you."

I sniffled, peeking up at him through tear‑blurred eyes. "Handsome? Please. You're barely passable."

Percy gasped, clutching his chest in mock offense. "Excuse me? I'm the definition of handsome."

Aries groaned, dragging a hand down his face. "You two are unbelievable. Jay, stop being dramatic. Percy, stop feeding her nonsense."

But Percy only grinned wider, tightening his hold on me. "Ignore him, sistah. He's just jealous."

"Jay, you're safe, thank god," Yuri said, rushing forward to hug me—only for Keifer to pull me back against him.

Yuri froze, stepping back, her eyes flicking between us.

"Jay, there you are!" Ci-n said, his voice scared but relieved.

"You made us walk around this creepy house for nothing." He turned to the others. "Guys, Jay's here!"

Footsteps thundered down the stairs as Section E crowded into the room, their voices overlapping, questions flying.

"What happened?"

"Where were you?"

"Why didn't you answer your phone?"

I clutched the hologram tighter, my chest aching, my tears still fresh.

Keifer's arm stayed firm around me, his jaw tight, his eyes daring anyone to come closer.

"Enough," he said, his voice low but commanding. "She's fine. We're leaving."

The room went silent, the weight of his words pressing down.

I swallowed hard, my voice trembling. "I'll explain everything... at the house."

The others exchanged uneasy glances, but no one argued.

Because even they could feel it—the heaviness in the air, the secrets clinging to the walls of this forest house.

At Jay's house

Jay-Jay POV

We went inside the house and Kuya was there, waiting like a storm about to break.

His arms were crossed, his glare sharp enough to cut through steel.

"Where the hell do you think you can go without informing anyone?" Kuya asked, his voice booming through the room.

My heart stopped.

My chest tightened.

This is it.

The end.

Goodbye, Jay.

Nice knowing you.

I clutched the hologram tighter, my knees weak.

"Kuya..." I whispered, my voice trembling. "I swear it's not what you think."

But his glare didn't soften.

"Kuya—" I started, my chest tightening, but Keifer's voice cut through like a blade.

"Boss, I want to talk to Jay alone," Keifer said firmly, his tone leaving no room for argument.

The room went silent.

Kuya's eyes narrowed, flicking between me and Keifer. "Alone? Why?"

Keifer didn't flinch.

His jaw was tight, his eyes locked on Kuya. "Because this isn't for everyone. Not yet."

My breath caught.

Kuya's fists clenched at his sides, his voice sharp. "Jay is my sister. If she's hiding something, I deserve to know."

Keifer stepped closer, his presence heavy, protective. "And you will. But right now, she needs to tell me first."

Chaos swirled inside m

Percy shifted uncomfortably, muttering under his breath, "This is going to explode…"

Aries groaned, rubbing his temples. "Jay, just say something before Kuya kills us all."

"Should we run?" Ci‑n whispered in my ear, his grin already forming like he knew I'd say yes.

I looked at him and nodded, whispering back, "Obviously. If Kuya kills me, you're dying with me."

Ci‑n smirked, leaning closer. "Ride or die. But mostly die."

I gasped, clutching his arm. "Don't say die! You're supposed to say we'll escape like ninjas!"

He rolled his eyes, whispering, "Jay, we'd trip over the first rug and get caught. But hey, at least it'll be funny."

I stifled a laugh through my tears, the chaos bubbling up despite Kuya's glare burning holes in my back.

"You know what,," Kuya said, his voice heavy, pointing straight at me. " Jay and Keifer, in my room. There you can explain everything."

My stomach dropped.

Oh no. Oh no no no.

This is it.

The trial.

The execution.

The end of Jay.

I clutched the hologram tighter, my eyes darting between Kuya's glare and Keifer's unreadable face.

"Kuya…" I started weakly, my voice cracking. "Can't we… maybe… explain in the living room? Or the kitchen? Or, you know, anywhere less terrifying than your room?"

Kuya's eyes narrowed. "No. My room. Now."

Ci‑n leaned in, whispering with a grin "Jay, this is worse than detention. You're doomed."

I didn't say anything and followed Keifer and Kuya into Kuya's room.

My stomach twisted like I was walking straight into my own trial.

They were already waiting for me, the air heavy, like the walls themselves were judging me.

Aries and Percy slipped in right behind me, of course.

"What are you two doing here?" Kuya snapped, his glare sharp.

"Kuya, please, she's my sister too," Aries said quickly, his voice firm.

"Mine too, baby Aries," Percy added with a grin, throwing his arm around me like he was claiming me.

Kuya sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose, and let them stay.

The silence that followed was unbearable.

Keifer leaned against the desk, his voice softer than I'd ever heard it. "Jay… please tell us how you know Mama."

The words hit me like a punch.

My throat tightened, my chest burned.

I looked at him, at Kuya, at Aries and Percy

Their eyes were all on me, waiting, demanding.

"Aunt Serina and Papa were best friends," I said, my voice trembling. "When she married your—" I stopped, biting my lip, because I knew Keifer hated calling Kaizer his dad.

I told them everything.

Every detail I carried alone, every truth I had hidden.

When I was finished, the room fell into stunned silence.

No one moved, no one spoke.

The air was heavy, like the walls themselves were holding their breath.

Keifer's voice finally broke through, soft but trembling. "So… you know Mama because she used to come to your house?"

I nodded, my throat tight, my tears threatening again.

His eyes widened, disbelief etched across his face. "All this time… she wanted me to know you. She wanted me to have this family."

"So who is this Jas?" Keifer asked, his voice steady but sharp, eyes locked on me.

I looked at him, my throat tightening, my chest heavy.

Percy froze.

His usual grin vanished, his body stiff like he'd just been caught in a trap.

He knew exactly what Jas was to us, and the weight of it pressed down on him harder than anyone else in the room.

Aries glanced between us, confusion flickering across his face. "Jay… who is Jas?"

Kuya's glare sharpened, demanding an answer. "Jay. Speak."

I looked at Percy, desperate, and he caught the clue instantly.

"She will tell you when she wants to," Percy said firmly, stepping closer to me. His usual grin was gone — this wasn't just mischief. This was my brother standing his ground.

"What the hell do you mean?" Kuya snapped, his voice rising. "You can't just hide everything!"

Aries stepped forward, his tone calm but protective. "Kuya, let her breathe. Forcing her won't help."

Keifer shifted against the desk, his voice soft, careful. "Jay… I'm not asking to corner you. I just want to understand. If this is about Mama, it matters to me… but only when you're ready."

The silence pressed down, heavy.

Percy's arm brushed mine, steadying me. "She's my sister. If she's not ready, then you wait. That's final."

Kuya's fists clenched, his glare burning. "Ready? She's been hiding things from us all along. And now you're telling me to wait?"

"Jay, speak," Kuya demanded, his voice sharp.

"I'm telling you, stop forcing her," Percy shot back, his tone firm, protective.

Kuya's eyes narrowed, turning on him. "Why? Do you know this Jas too?"

Percy didn't flinch.

His jaw tightened, his voice steady. "Yes. I know."

The room froze.

"Speak," Kuya said, his voice sharp, cutting through the air like a blade.

I didn't say anything. My throat locked, my chest heavy.

Instead, I lowered my gaze and clenched my hands into fists, holding them tight against myself.

The silence pressed down harder, every eye on me.

Aries shifted uneasily, his voice low. "Jay…"

Percy stepped closer, his jaw tight, his usual grin gone. "She doesn't have to say it now."

Keifer's gaze softened, his voice barely above a whisper. "Jay… you don't have to force it. Just… breathe."

Kuya's glare burned into me, his fists clenched at his sides. "You think silence will protect you? You think hiding will make this easier?"

I didn't say anything. My chest ached, my fists trembling at my sides. Instead, I turned and walked away, retreating to my room.

But the silence didn't last.

Footsteps followed me down the hall.

Kuya, Keifer, Aries, and Percy trailed after, their presence heavy, impossible to escape.

"Jay—Jay," Kuya called softly as he entered, his voice no longer sharp but pleading.

I sat on the edge of my bed, staring at the floor, refusing to meet his eyes.

"Please tell us," Kuya said, his tone breaking. "Keeping this might get you in danger."

I stood slowly, my legs trembling, and walked to the closet.

My hands shook as I pulled out the old album, the one I had hidden away for so long.

I handed it to them without a word.

Kuya frowned, flipping it open. "What is this?"

The first picture stared back at him—her smile, her eyes, the warmth that had once filled our house.

"That is Jas… my—" My voice cracked, tears spilling down my cheeks. I couldn't finish the sentence, the weight of it crushing me.

Aries leaned closer, his eyes widening as he saw the photos. "Jay… this girl… she looks just like us."

Keifer's voice trembled, softer than a whisper. "Jay… is she your—"

"Yes," I said, staring at the pictures of her and me, my tears blurring the edges. "She is my twin sister."

The room fell into stunned silence. No one spoke. No one moved.

Kuya's voice finally broke through, low and unsteady. "Where is she now?"

"She…" I started, but the words caught in my throat. My chest tightened, my fists clenched. The truth pressed against me, desperate to break free, but I couldn't force it out.

Percy stepped closer, his hand brushing mine, protective. "Jay…" he whispered, his eyes pleading.

Aries looked between us, confusion and worry etched across his face. "Jay, if she's your twin, then she's part of us too. We need to know."

Kuya's fists unclenched, his tone breaking again. "Keeping this inside might hurt you more than telling us. Please."
