Another monumental silence. Though this time, it was dark all around. The only light left was a little mobile lamp sitting on the dark brown table. Two men sat opposite each other, one at the head and the other at the end. The distance seemed to stretch farther in their eyes. Why did they sit alone in the dark? ghostly silence their only companion. who was to say the first word? who was to break the ever growing ice?
Nairel sat still in the chair, his head lowered, eyes half lidded. 'Fear' that's what he felt. he was afraid... not of the man seated in front of him but of what that man could do. the what if's plaguing his mind made his head buzz, his beast growling deep inside him.
Damian sat still staring at the other man, though his silence had nothing to do with fear, his silence was vigilance, an unnerving assessment of the other man. His eyes showed no emotion as he watched the other man's inner turmoil. Did he really feel nothing? even he wasn't sure. What he felt at the moment was a myriad of emotions. The man at the end has been with him for a century already, though not that much time, he was someone he trusted with his heart and soul. Could he give him his daughter though?
" Your father and i go back centuries. I trust you understand what she means to me.", Nairel lifts his head, his eyes a pale silvery-blue. He is silent. Damian continues " You are weak! We both know how much the whole world wants to drain her, yet you can do nothing. you cannot protect my daughter" a deep pause. a few seconds of silence " so what exactly can you offer?.... Nairel Vale Isfrid "
His heart was a mess but his blood was roaring. His hazy eyes and muddled brain had recovered. He needed to grow stronger...Stronger than anyone else, so he could protect her from the world.
"I promise I would grow stronger. I will protect her with everything i have. I will give her everything i have. my body and soul "
"Why?... Because your beast reacted. Because you think it's your fate to be with her..." "No, I love her. I just didn't want to admit it. from the moment she drew blood from you in that room, i lost. i figured it out...I love her and there's nothing i can do about it anymore." His Voice softer, laced with resignation and helplessness.
Damian said nothing else. Another round of silence, the silence now differs from the silence then. This silence was calmer with wind of acceptance.
"Where will you go? your Kingdom would not make you stronger. You know that don't you?" "Yes, i do. I'll go into the glaze realm for a while". Nairel said his voice as cold as it was before he had fallen in love. "mmhmm" Damian approved. maybe this one wasn't so bad.
" You better come back stronger than me" A smile finally bloomed on their cold faces. The battle had ended another deemed to begin.
***************
"Aah, Amaila has just come of age. she is a lovely lady with all the right curves. she is sure to suit your taste, Da rel. I would send her finest portraits." Navaiah had been playing the matchmaker ever since Damian left with his son. "Not interested" Darel refuses for the thousandth time. " there are others if my darling Amaila doesn't suit you tastes, Darel. I am sure you do not wish to follow in your brother's bachelor footsteps. The house needs more people. you can't choose to leave it in desolation like your able brother." Another speech on the need to have a spouse. Another daughter offering. How many times had he heard that one, just the ladies were different. He wasn't like his brother but that didn't mean he would compromise for his partner either.
'swoosh swoosh' The curtains in the room blew open revealing the cold glare of moonlight in the dark sky. The door opened. Damian entered first, Nairel following after. they looked no different from before. their faces as cold as ever. Damian's eyes fleeted to the swaying curtains, then to the open widow and the moonlight outside. The air moved with an obvious difference. How could he not notice it. Nairel's eyes glowed a dark silver as he moved towards the bed, his face to the open window. Damian released his aura, forming a blood net over his sleeping daughter. They both recognized the aura. Navaiah eyed the two men in defensive stances and looked towards the window, his eyes narrowing. He felt and saw nothing. Darel the same, wondering what scene his brother and Nairel were playing.
The curtains swayed harder, slashing at the open windows. The air in the room growing heavy and tense. The oblivious people had noticed now. Something was coming.
"What's going on?" Dareevah asked walking through the door, her hands supporting her big belly. Kavriel walked in following his wife. His eyes narrowed slightly as he sensed the growing darkness in the room. His hands were steady as he supported his wife, their aura's riling up. Kavriel's hand glowed, blood red runed glowing in his palm as he chanted. the runes left his palm and covered his wife's belly protecting their unborn child.
The shadows in the room molded together slowly moving under the moonlight. The shadows grabbed at each other, forming a solid body. The body one shrouded in shadows stood clear in front of them all. 'whissh' an icy arrow shot towards the figure at break net speed. The shadow dodged, a chuckle bubbling in his throat. "easy there, fae", Ale spoke, his voice grating the ears of everybody listening. "I come in peace. I have only a need to awaken my master" He said again, this time a slow bow followed his words.
"Who is your master?", Damian asked, bloodlust lacing his cold voice. " You are masters father, i will do you no harm. please drop the hostility" Ale said with a smirk on his lips. His red eyes glowed as Damian's Bleed barrier shattered revealing the once hazy figure of the princess. The rest were startled. they grew more wary of the shadow man dressed in an all black coat. His long hair flowing down without restraint, a silent testament to the wild power he no longer tried to tame.
Silently he walked to the bed side not hiding his intentions. On reaching, he lay his cold fingers on her pale forehead . "Ul'karesh Vhaelor… keth'ra nox'thyr" a language no one else could decipher. His fingers glowed a pale golden light. A black and red phoenix rune glowed on her forehead. The paleness on her face receding, regaining its rosy tinge.
"Drak'vael vortyrr… Brus'thiel ul'karesh" Raven said in the same language as Ale, the moment her eyes saw light.
***********
The ground quaked. The black mountain glowed. whispers filled the ears of every beast and creature surrounding the mountain. 'Thyrr'el ul'karesh… nax'rae vor'keth' the voices whispering over the mountain range repeated, their voices lapping. The sight of the mountains was eerie, with dark clouds and frightened birds filling the sights of everyone that looked towards the towering chapter.
