"Well?" she demanded. "How did it go? Tell me everything!"
I couldn't stop smiling. "It went really well. We're together. Like, officially together."
Emma squealed and pulled me into a hug. "I knew it! I knew you two were perfect for each other! This is so exciting!"
We stayed up late talking about the dinner, about Ezra, about what this meant. For the first time in my life, I had a real friend to share relationship excitement with. It felt wonderful.
The next morning, I woke to find a small box outside my door. Inside was a silver bracelet with a moonstone charm and a note in Ezra's handwriting:
"To new beginnings. -E"
I put it on immediately and wore it to breakfast in the main hall. Several pack members noticed and smiled knowingly. Emma gave me a thumbs up. Sarah winked.
Ezra was already at breakfast when I arrived, and when our eyes met across the room, his whole face lit up. He gestured to the empty seat beside him, and I joined him without hesitation.
