"I've looked into it. Those two medications Dr. Liam gave you claim to help with bone healing, but they're completely wrong for what you actually need."
"What are you talking about?" I asked, doubt creeping into my voice.
Veronica pressed on, "One contains quinine - that's for heart conditions. Doctors use it for irregular heartbeats and rapid heart rhythms."
My frown deepened. "And that's bad because...?"
"The second ingredient is tetrodotoxin, a neuromuscular blocker. It prevents muscle wasting in paralyzed patients. But you're not paralyzed, so it makes no sense for you."
Confusion gnawed at me. "Are you saying Dr. Liam screwed up? The man's a professional. How could he get it so wrong?"
"Exactly my point!" Her voice sharpened. "Dr. Liam has treated The Nelson Family for decades. With his experience, this kind of mistake is impossible."
She let that sink in before continuing, "So if it wasn't an accident, there's only one explanation."
"Which is?"
