Chapter 101 - Chapter 101

Hitomi sat down beside him and gently took his left hand. Her right hand glowed once more with a blue light, and Kenshin felt warmth. Little by little, under the influence of her chakra, his bone began to regrow, but the process was so slow that, according to Hitomi's estimates, he would have to come for sessions for at least two more weeks.

Throughout the entire session, all he did was gaze into the beautiful white eyes of this stunning woman and chat with her about random topics. Hitomi nearly lost herself in the depths of his eyes, but with her vast experience in medical ninjutsu, she was able to maintain concentration even in such a difficult situation.

After the session, Kenshin headed for the exit, saying goodbye to Hitomi and promising to come tomorrow. She walked him to the door, and the assistant medic sitting at the registration desk nearly dropped his tea mug when he saw this terrifying woman sweetly chatting with a completely unremarkable young man.

As soon as Kenshin left, Hitomi turned her gaze to the frozen boy, and her warm, affectionate look instantly changed to that of an ice queen.

"Are you slacking off again? There's a patient in room six with intestinal obstruction. Take care of it." She commanded authoritatively, then turned and headed to her office.

"What the hell is going on?!" the assistant thought in shock. At the thought of the patient in room six, his desire to finish his tea completely vanished.

"What happened to you?" Yamada Setoru asked, raising his right eyebrow.

"A storm wolf charged at full speed and sent me flying…" Kenshin sighed in response, while Ichiro placed a pile of fangs on the table.

"Did it ever occur to you that an ordinary person who can't use chakra has no business being near storm wolves?" Setoru said with a smirk. He was genuinely amused by the situation; having seen far worse injuries in his life, he didn't consider broken arms to warrant special attention.

"You're right. On this mission, I was frankly unnecessary. The team will carry out the next missions without me," Kenshin assured him to receive certification.

"Well, with injuries like yours, missions are definitely out of the question," Setoru said with a smile, clearing his throat before continuing: "Good, the mission is complete, and I have no reason to deny your team. You chose yourself as commander?" He shifted his gaze to Ichiro, who nodded silently.

"You alone can accept new members, but you must register each one. Here's the certificate—head to registration and have every team member leave their chakra imprint for identification," Setoru said. Ichiro silently left the office.

"Hm, truly a man of few words," Setoru noted with a laugh, confirming the truth of Kenshin's legend.

Half an hour later, Kenshin and his sons finally left the building and headed to a local eatery. After hearing that Kenshin was in no danger, his sons were in high spirits, and the team's certification lifted their mood even higher. Everyone began eating with particular appetite, leaving Kenshin only to sit and wait for them to finish.

Ichiro offered to feed his father, but Kenshin flatly refused, and eating with telekinesis in front of strangers was out of the question. So they quickly ate and took some food to go so Kenshin could snack on the way.

Three hours later, they finally reached home territory. After making sure there was no "tail," Kenshin headed straight for the familiar mountain and entered the cave that was so well-known to them all.

As soon as the large entrance door opened, three beauties stood before Kenshin with worried faces. Seeing the splints on his arms, the expressions of all the girls instantly changed. Kasumi was the first to regain her composure and stepped toward him.

"You bastard!" she said angrily, slapping him across the face, then turned and walked away quickly, leaving a trail of tears behind her.

Natsumi also began to cry and silently buried herself in his broad chest. Aya was in shock and only burst into tears a few seconds later. The sons quietly retreated, while Kenshin stood and let his wives release their emotions.

A minute later, Kasumi returned and silently buried herself in his chest.

"You're a real bastard, Nakayama Kenshin… How could you put yourself in danger?!" the Nara clan daughter growled through tears.

"Sorry, girls," he said gently and kissed Kasumi on the lips.

After long explanations to the girls, Kenshin could finally breathe a sigh of relief. Their first mission had gone off-plan, but it ended far better than it could have. After debriefing, he went to rest and slept until evening, when Kasumi climbed into bed with him and began gently kissing his face.

"Sorry for hitting you…" she whispered, pressing her cheek to his.

"It's nothing. I'm the one at fault for everything that happened," Kenshin whispered back, turning his face to kiss her lips.

"Why did you even go on the mission with them? You could have waited at the outpost…" the black-haired beauty asked without reproach.

"You know I can't do that… I can't just sit and wait for one of them to be brought back in a coffin when I can influence the outcome of the battle. And though my arms are broken, that's far better than losing one of them."

"You risk yourself but won't let me…"

"And I won't. Your safety—and the girls'—comes first."

"You can be so stubborn sometimes…" Kasumi sighed and kissed him on the lips.
