"Hm? And who are you?" Sisi asked, feigning ignorance.
"M-my name is Leah, Mistress. I've been Miss Ruela's servant girl since I was a child!" Leah reported quickly. "If… if Miss Ruela is now a sweeping maid, does that mean I'll become one too? I-I will follow whatever arrangement you make, Mistress!"
Leah made sure she looked as sincere as possible. Even Ruela glanced at her servant girl with gratitude, such loyalty was rare, especially when her mistress had fallen from favor.
"Oh?" Sisi raised a brow thoughtfully. "Since you've been a servant for almost your entire life, you must be quite good at managing a courtyard, no?"
Leah's heart skipped, "Yes, Mistress. I've been managing Miss Ruela's courtyard in our family home."
"I see, then making you another sweeping maid like Ruela would be a waste," Sisi continued calmly. "I'll appoint you as a head maid of the Queen's Courtyard."
Both Leah and Ruela lifted their heads at the same time.
Leah was unable to hide her joy.
