Chapter 49 - Overcoming a Difficult Battle

The force from the crash send Cloud flying backward. He hit the ground a few times before stopping.

Thankfully, he managed to put up a guard before being hit.

But the damage still hurt his body. His arms are numb and he got a bruise on his stomach and chest.

It was a straight hit after all. Cloud was in the air when he was hit. He only barely put up a guard that lessens the direct damage.

If he didn't, the damage would've been more severe. The bruises would've been worse and he might get a significant internal injuries.

Cloud quickly stand up after stopping. He didn't even process the damage before he do.

It wasn't because he is pretending to be strong but because he need to do that to survive.

He turn to look at the boars as they are preparing to charge again.

Only then did Cloud have some time to check his body. But he only try to sense the damage. He didn't check with his hands and eyes as he is still in the middle of a battle.

After sensing that the damage wouldn't impair his body by much, Cloud turn serious as he face the incoming boars again.

The boars charge again. This time, the two of them didn't go one after another. They charge together side by side while one of it is just slightly behind the other.

Cloud brace himself for the attack. As his left is the wall, he run toward the right to avoid the charging boars.

The space in this cave is not that high but it is quite wide. There is plenty of space to use to avoid the boars.

Cloud's movement is very fast. As the boar didn't charge from very far away, they didn't have the time to reach their full speed.

Cloud easily avoided them. But he still need to think of a way to defeat the two boars.

As the boars turned and charge again, Cloud try to block its path and stop it.

He run forward while putting his blade back to its sheath. As the boar collide with him, he holds its tusks and try to hold its charge.

But the force from the boar is still massive even though Cloud tried to prevent it from gaining speed.

He's being pushed back by the boar while holding it.

The boar didn't stay still as it sense its tusks being hold. It start moving its head vigorously to throw Cloud away.

Cloud is holding the tusks hard but he can only let his body flew around as the boar shakes its head around.

Eventually, Cloud couldn't hold on anymore as his body hit the ceiling several times.

The boar is almost as high as the 2 meters ceiling after all.

Cloud can brace himself and use his legs to prevent him from crashing to the ground but the ceiling is a different story.

In the end, Cloud was flung toward the wall on the side.

But Cloud didn't just do nothing. As he was flung, he positioned his legs to the wall.

He draw his blade and when he reach the wall, he uses his legs as a spring to push him back toward the boar.

It took him only an instant to do that so the boar is completely unprepared. It didn't even manage to turn to the side as Cloud fly straight to its side.

Cloud point the tip of his blade to the boar's side belly and he plunge the blade deep into its belly.

The boar squeal in pain as the blade penetrate its skin and continue deep into its body.

It quickly try to run in fear but Cloud isn't going to give it the chance.

He cut open the wound with his blade.

The boar squeal further in pain before it fell down after only taking a few steps.

Cloud's blade isn't long but it is enough to cut open a big gash on the body of the boar.

The boar later died after huffing a few more breath.

The other boar didn't just stand around while that happens. It can understand that its companion has been killed so it growls in anger and start rampaging around.

It charge toward Cloud with a speed faster than before. It keep growling as if in grief while charging.

Cloud run around to avoid it but the boar doesn't let him go at all. It keep following close behind and Cloud couldn't shake it off.

At one point, Cloud lead it straight into a wall.

He jump to the side just before the wall and the boar crash against it hard. But that didn't stop the boar. It only slowed the boar a little.

After crashing, the boar uses its head to rampage around. It deform the wall in front of it as it gets closer to Cloud.

Cloud didn't have time to stand. He crawl and roll around to avoid the rampaging boar before finally able to stand.

Just as he stand, the boar is already on his side. Cloud didn't have time to do anything before the head of the boar hit his side.

Cloud is pushed away by the force. But it is not as exaggerated as before because the boar hit him without running.

Still, the damage is significant as Cloud didn't have time to defend himself at all.

Although that's the case, Cloud never once dare to relax his body throughout the battle so he is not completely defenseless.

He got slight internal injuries and a massive bruise on his side. But the most significant damage would be the cracks in a few of his ribs.

Cloud holds his side while gritting his teeth in pain.

He was pushed a few meters away by the force so he have some time before the boar arrives before him again.

But Cloud still quickly force himself to stand up despite the pain.

He face the boar before him again as it charge toward him.

Cloud charge forward while gritting his teeth in pain.

Once he closed in on the boar, he narrowly avoid it by sliding to the side of the boar.

Cloud uses his blade as he slides. He slashes the boar's side and legs.

The wound was not deep but it was enough to make it bleed. The boar is growling in anger and pain because of it.

Cloud quickly stand back up and turn to face the boar again.

The beast and the boy is charging toward each other again.

As they get closer, another clash is about to unfold.

This time, Cloud gets down again as he is about to clash.

But a spirit beast is much more cleaver compared to a regular beasts.

It is already prepared and it lowered its head, preparing to receive Cloud.

Cloud has fought a few spirit beast already. How can he not know how smart this creature is.

He was also prepared from the start. Lowering his position turns out to be a preparation for something else.

After lowering himself, Cloud jump over the boar. He turn his legs to the ceiling and use it as support to turn back toward the boar.

Another pitiful squeal came from the boar as Cloud plunge his blade deep into its body.

He didn't stop there and moves his blade to open up the wound further.

Even after opening a big wound, Cloud didn't stop slashing until he can't hear the boar anymore.

Only then did he stop and plop to the ground with a ragged breathing.
