Chapter Two – Seo Minjae POV
My head throbbed violently, as if a drumline had taken up residence inside my skull. I pressed both hands against my face, groaning.
Did I survive? Am I alive? Or am I in a hospital? Thank God…
Slowly, I opened my eyes.
And froze.
This wasn't a hospital.
It was a tiny, feminine room — soft pastel walls, worn furniture, and orange cat stickers plastered everywhere: on the closet, the mirror, even the light switch. A small space heater hummed quietly in the corner beside a cluttered desk, stacked with notebooks and stationery.
I was lying on a one-and-a-half-sized bed, covered with a plain white blanket.
Where the hell was I?
Wait… I knew this room.
Yuna's apartment.
Did she… bring me here? Drag my bleeding, half-dead body into her apartment? Why not a hospital?
Weird.
I pushed myself upright.
Something felt… wrong.
The room seemed larger than memory allowed. Even her modest closet looked enormous.
Did the accident somehow shrink me?
I staggered toward the mirror, bracing for the worst. My perfectly sculpted V-line, my defining jaw… was it ruined?
But when I looked…
It wasn't me.
It was Baek Yuna.
I spun around. "Hey, Yuna! You're here?"
Silence.
Her apartment wasn't haunted. She hadn't appeared. And yet… I could hear her voice when I spoke.
I looked back into the mirror. Yuna's reflection stared back at me. I rubbed the glass, hoping it was dirty, some trick of light.
No.
My hands were small, delicate. Feminine. Not mine.
I stared. I panicked. I screamed.
"THE HELL— I'M BAEK YUNA?! AND I HAVE BOOBS?!"
I pressed my hands against my chest. They were real.
Then instinct kicked in.
"NO. NO. NO. MY SABER LASER — WHERE IS IT?!"
Gone. Vanished. My—identity ripped away.
I staggered back. This had to be a nightmare. A coma hallucination. Something.
I crawled back into bed, desperate to convince myself I'd wake up as Seo Minjae.
That's when an orange demon leapt onto my head.
Dori. Her male cat. Cute face, lethal attitude. He had always hated me.
He meowed sharply, claws digging into my hair.
"GET OFF! GET OFF!" I yelled, trying to pry him away.
Finally freed, I collapsed on the bed, clutching a pillow for protection.
He licked a paw, completely unconcerned.
"Hey, Minjae."
I "Hey… Dori ."
Slowly, I turned. Did the cat just talk? Did I just respond as if it were normal?
"I'm crazy. I'm in a nightmare. A CAT IS TALKING TO ME!"
Dori snorted, audibly. "No, you're not crazy. Not yet."
I staggered backward. "Cats don't talk! I must be dead… or in hell!"
He yawned. "Relax. You're not dead… yet. But if you don't complete your mission, you will end up in hell."
Mission?
I ran to the bathroom, turned the faucet on full blast, and dunked my face under the icy water.
When I lifted it… Dori was still there, staring.
"Don't you dare splash me. I hate water," he said, completely unbothered.
I screamed.
This was real. This was REALLY real.
"I'm inside Yuna's body… for real?!"
"Yes," Dori replied calmly. "You made her cry too much. So you got reborn into her. You have a mission. Complete it, and you get your life — and your body — back."
"You're serious?"
"I'm a talking cat. THAT'S what you question?"
He had a point. Unfortunately.
"There is no such thing as talking cats!"
"And yet, here you are, a cheating playboy reborn into your ex's body," Dori said, unimpressed.
I swallowed hard. "What… what do I have to do?"
"Make Yuna's life better. Work, friends, love life… fix everything you've broken. Make her truly happy. Only then can you return to your own life."
"And if I fail?" My voice trembled.
"You disappear." Dori stretched lazily. "Poof. Gone."
Yuna's reflection froze. Fear paralyzed me.
"Wait… if I'm in her body… then where is she? In mine?"
"No. You doesn't exist right now."
"THE HANDSOME SEO MINJAE DOESN'T EXIST?! But I got hit by a Car ! Why am I here? Where is she?!"
Dori leapt at me, knocking me onto the floor, and pressed a claw gently to my cheek.
"You only need to know one thing: if you want your life back, make Baek Yuna's life a happy one. Got it?"
"I… yes! Okay! YES!" I stammered, nodding furiously.
