Chapter 4 - PALTANS – EP 4: THE PAST

(At Night: 8:30 PM)

St. Anthony High School is still the same.

The bell rings, kids shout, and the sound of volleyball echoes from the ground.

But today, the air feels heavier.

I—Jay—am standing near the ground.

My PALTAN is with me.

Aarav stands on the side with his crew—silent, alert.

Everyone can feel that something is wrong.

Rishab bro stands near the railing.

His eyes are on the ground, his voice low but heavy.

"Jay… the way you all are standing together today—

Veer created the same thing for the first time back in STD 7."

(Flashback)

Veer in STD 7.

No name. No identity.

Just a kid whom seniors reminded every day—

"You're from the bottom, idiot."

St. Anthony had one rule:

If a senior speaks, juniors stay silent.

If a junior speaks, seniors beat them.

One day, near the washroom, a kid was crying.

A senior was abusing him.

"Shut up, bastard."

That's when Veer enters the washroom.

Veer says,

"Stop it."

The senior laughs.

"Who the hell are you, asshole?"

Punch.

Straight to the face.

Veer gets suspended for one week.

But that day, he understands one thing—

Fighting alone makes you a hero,

but surviving alone is difficult.

After that, Veer starts noticing:

Students sitting in corners.

Students getting bullied.

Students insulted every day.

One by one, he goes to them.

"Is this a daily thing, bro?"

"You're tired too, right?"

"If we stand together, things will change."

Behind the storeroom, he gathers everyone.

Veer says:

"I'm not the leader.

But if we don't stand together today,

tomorrow they'll still call us idiots—understood?"

Veer's best friend Dhruv says,

"But the seniors…"

Veer replies straight:

"We'll screw them too."

Hearing Veer, everyone feels a surge of energy.

That day, a group of students is formed.

No name.

But there were rules:

No one stands alone

No fear of seniors

No insult will be tolerated

The first real war happens behind the volleyball court.

The senior gang arrives.

Their leader says,

"So you've formed a gang, assholes?"

Veer steps forward.

"Not a gang… students.

And from today, your rule is over—understood, idiots?"

The senior leader gets furious.

The fight starts.

Benches, bottles—everything flies.

Veer grabs the leader by the collar, looks him in the eyes and says:

"We came from the bottom…

and from the bottom itself, we'll shake your power."

At that moment, Veer names his group—

"BLACK ROOTS."

The name spreads.

The school atmosphere changes.

The management gets scared.

That's when Rishab enters.

Sports champion & karate student.

The principal announces:

"There will be a match between them.

Winner stays. Loser leaves the school."

The entire school gathers.

Veer is raw.

Rishab is calm.

The fight happens.

Rishab uses technique against Veer's rage.

Final move—

Rishab bro's mighty punch.

Veer falls.

The decision comes.

Veer is expelled.

Outside the school gate, Veer stops.

Turns back and looks at the school.

"So this is what I had to see, bastard."

Back to the Present

Rishab bro falls silent.

I look at my PALTAN.

Aarav steps forward with his crew.

"Jay… doesn't it feel like

Veer has come back for revenge?"

Suddenly, there's movement at the ground gate.

Silence.

The sound of boots.

Heavy footsteps.

The gate opens slowly.

A shadow appears.

A voice echoes—

"Looks like I'll have to remind this school again

what Black Roots really were."

Veer's face isn't clear.

But his eyes… everyone recognizes them.

I step forward with my PALTAN.

Aarav signals his crew.

This time, Veer's chapter must end forever.

Aarav:

"We were waiting for you, Veer."

EP 4 ENDS.
