"There's no such official position in the Imperial Palace's maid system, but I'm creating one for my household. The maids you've selected will remain under your supervision, and you'll be responsible for their daily duties. However, you won't report directly to me. You'll answer to our head maid, who will oversee the entire household."
Kiara folded her arms, giving Marcella a moment to consider the offer.
"You can accept the position, or you can return to Crown Princess Moira and tell her that I rejected your appointment. If you choose the latter, you can continue living the life you've had until now. I won't force you to stay."
Her tone remained calm, but there was no mistaking the practical nature of her offer. She was not interested in keeping someone in a position merely because the palace had assigned them there. If Marcella was capable, Kiara was willing to make use of her experience. If not, she would find someone else.
