"Hobi?"
"Hoppip hoppip." Bunnelby crossed his arms, looking mature and nodding repeatedly. He had heard from Psyduck that Bibarel's woodcarving skills were excellent. Seeing it today, he confirmed that Bibarel (Da Wei in the original text) indeed had talent.
"Bida..." Bibarel looked helpless, scratching the back of his head. In front of him was a woodcarving of a Bunnelby. Bibarel was diligent, but carving for Psyduck and now others was exhausting.
"Hoppip hoppip." Bunnelby picked up the Bunnelby plushie he had won and compared it with the woodcarving, concluding that he was indeed much more handsome than the plushie.
"Hobi?" Bunnelby got stuck, unable to recall the line he had seen in a movie earlier. Just as he was racking his brain, Bibarel jumped into the lake and fled.
Bunnelby shrugged and then jumped onto the back of the nearby Grotle. Psyduck was also sitting there resting. Grotle is the evolved form of Turtwig. After evolving, Grotle's shell grew a small tree, and its back was broad, enough to accommodate multiple Pokémon. Bunnelby and the others made this their secret base and a mobile one at that.
Grotle smiled knowingly, happy to provide a place for everyone to rest and play.
In the villa, Kaito was teaching Latias how to speak human language. "Very good, just like that. You are truly intelligent."
Latias was a little shy. "Really? It feels quite easy," she responded telepathically.
Suddenly, Latias whispered, "Someone's coming." Immediately, she used her Power of Transformation to make herself invisible. She didn't like interacting with strangers.
Kaito walked out of the yard. A black dot flew from the horizon, gradually enlarging. It was Pidgeot.
"Kaito, I'm here!" Liu Xuan (the Doctor) tucked her wind-blown hair behind her ear. She was incredibly excited to see Kaito and Umbreon. She had seen Kaito's new paper and was eager to confirm the new Eevee evolution.
Stare— In the shadows, the invisible Latias curiously watched Liu Xuan. She vaguely felt that Liu Xuan seemed to have a different kind of affection for Kaito. Unconsciously, a hint of jealousy appeared in Latias's eyes.
Kaito secretly glanced at Latias (he could see her due to his own Psychic Power).
"Did you bring everything?" Kaito asked.
"You can rest assured with my work; everything is of excellent quality," Liu Xuan said, patting her crossbody bag, which was full of Poké Balls.
"Let me see Umbreon first, I've been waiting for so long."
Kaito nodded, then led Liu Xuan into the yard. Leafeon, Eevee, and Umbreon were lying down, basking in the sun. Umbreon is a nocturnal Pokémon, so she often lazily sleeps during the day.
Liu Xuan's breathing quickened. "That's right, it's a new Eevee! Umbreon, what a great name. The golden rings glow during the full moon."
Liu Xuan suddenly realized the significance. Kaito nodded. "That's right, it's evolution through friendship!"
"It really is!" Liu Xuan exclaimed. "My idea really wasn't wrong. It's so important that you became a doctor."
Liu Xuan opened her two crossbody bags. "According to your previous instructions, I brought these four Pokémon: Eevee, Comfey, Cleffa, and a Togepi egg."
Kaito had requested these for Fairy-type research. Liu Xuan went outside the yard and released the Pokémon one by one.
Comfey's profile: Name: Comfey, Name: None, Ability: Flower Veil, Type: Fairy-type, Level: Lv. 26 (Good-tier), Individual Values: HP (23), Attack (18), Defense (21), Special Attack (28), Special Defense (31), Speed (23), Skills: Helping Hand, Vine Whip, Growth, Magical Leaf, Synthesis..., Potential: Superior-tier.
Comfey is a warm-hearted Pokémon that emits a captivating aroma. It extends sticky vines and adorns itself with flowers. Comfey all looked at Kaito at the same time, instinctively wanting to get closer.
The small, adorable creatures resembling stars were Cleffa—the pre-evolution of Clefairy.
Cleffa's profile: Name: Cleffa, Name: None, Ability: Magic Guard, Type: Fairy-type, Level: Lv. 8 (Infant-tier), Individual Values: HP (31), Attack (16), Defense (23), Special Attack (31), Special Defense (31), Speed (23), Skills: Pound, Splash, Copycat, Sing, Potential: Superior-tier.
The Cleffa also liked Kaito, squeezing to his feet and crying out, "Clefairy—!"
"...Good, good, good." Kaito felt like a kindergarten principal, surrounded by preschoolers.
"Hobi?" Bunnelby squeezed in, hugging Kaito's leg, showing his earnest devotion.
"Hoo bi?!" Bunnelby was greatly surprised. This was the legendary 'new Pokémon, forgotten old Pokémon'!
Liu Xuan covered her mouth and chuckled softly. "You're so popular with Pokémon, it's truly enviable." She correctly suspected Kaito was a special ability user that made Pokémon fond of him.
"Speaking of which, I'm quite curious why you want Comfey and the others?" Liu Xuan asked.
"Well... If I said I wanted them to research a conjecture that would shock the world, would you believe me?" Kaito replied, referring to the Fairy-type research.
"More impressive than Eevee's new forms?"
Kaito looked deeply at Liu Xuan. "Much, much more impressive than Eevee's new forms."
Liu Xuan thought for a moment: "I think so. Because I feel like you've never made a mistake."
"I almost forgot, this is for you." Liu Xuan took the Togepi egg out of another bag.
Suddenly, Kaito turned to look in another direction. Several trucks were driving down the country road. His Research Institute construction team had arrived.
Kaito is now ready to begin his Fairy-type research with his new Pokémon! What will the construction of his new Research Institute mean for his farm's future?
