Jonathan tried to outsmart himself.
He checked into a motel under a fake name.
He locked himself in the bathroom.
He swallowed an entire bottle of pills.
He fell to the floor, vision fading—

The Captain slammed his fingers into his throat, forcing the pills back up. He crawled to the sink, flushed the rest, and washed his face.
