Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: Accepted this Marriage willingly

"Ay! I was- I was only trying to help. You and April don't look close enough as newly wedded couples. I only tried to pull a string to bring you closer, that's all."

"Aunt Olivia! This is my last warning to you. I don't need anyone pulling tricks to interfere in my marriage. Keep your strings to yourself." Lucas spoke in a clear firm voice before turning to instruct the housemaids to bring April's breakfast to their room.

As Lucas proceeded to open the door of the room, he saw April already awake as she's trying to style her hair in front of the vanity mirror.

He stood there for a while, admiring the beauty in front of him before pushing in the food trolley as he closed the door behind him.

"I see you're awake? Good morning! Come and have your breakfast" he pushed the trolley in front of the couch.

"Go- good morning! Thank you!" She muttered.

She was already feeling shy, since Lucas is back in the room again.

"I- can't eat right now. I have to rush to school this morning, there's an important assignment I have to submit."

She said while struggling to style her hair.

"That's not good!" He scolded softly.

"Breakfast is part of the important meals of the day. You can't skip it." He strolled to her side, and took her by the shoulders to lift her from the vanity table.

"But- but- I don't want to be late. I already woke up later than usual, if I eat now then it'll waste my time" she whined looking up at Lucas as he placed her on the couch.

"It's my fault and I'm so sorry about last night. I'm sorry for hurting you." He whispered in a husky voice and kissed her forehead deeply. Swiftly he set himself on the couch and picked the spoon as he quickly opened the food cloche.

April widened her eyes as her cheeks immediately turned red. She wondered what got into her husband as all of this attitude is new to her. Someone who was always cold to her suddenly turned heartwarming and caring.

Lucas scooped out of the dishes and brought the fork close to her mouth.

"Open your mouth!"

"I– can eat by myself, thank you" she muttered, almost grabbing the fork from him but Lucas insisted.

"I'll feed you your breakfast, all you have to do is open your mouth and chew" he brought the food closer again.

"Or are you angry with me?" He muttered in a husky voice.

April shook her head in disagreement with her head lowered.

"Then accept the food or you'll be late for school."

Lucas smiled seductively.

April heard what he said, and quickly opened her mouth to accept the food.

"That's my girl!" He whispered seductively into her ears causing April to blush so hard her cheeks turned red.

The funniest thing about this scene is that Lucas continued to smile seductively at her, April blushed with her head lowered because she couldn't look him in the eye.

Lucas fed his wife breakfast, till she noted she was full and satisfied. He then proceeds to call the housemaids with the telephone in the room so they could take the food trolley away.

April quickly checked the time as she rushed to prepare and pack her stuff.

As she was about to go out of the room, Lucas grabbed her hand softly "I'll take you to school this morning" he smiled after.

"I- I- I'm fine! I'll go with the taxi" she stuttered.

She thought Lucas would let her go but she was wrong about that because he immediately dragged her out the door holding her hand tightly.

As she continued to struggle to get her hand out of his grip, they crossed paths with Judith.

"Go- goo- good morning madam Judith" April lowered her head behind Lucas.

Judith noticed her actions and scoffed "I can't believe you still dare to show your face in this house. How dare you stand before me and act like you did nothing wrong? Because of you- because of you Lynn got into a terrible accident last night, what are you going to say about that? Huh!"

Judith screamed, causing April to jolt behind Lucas as her eyes widened in shock. She wasn't expecting such news "how could it be!" She thought in her mind

"April has nothing to say to you!" Lucas declared firmly taking April along with him down the stairs.

"You— Lucas?"

Judith felt her heart stuck in her throat when she heard what her own son said to her. "That stupid divorced wench I won't let you ruin my son." She thought in her mind with rage as her fist tightened.

All her mind right now is currently fixated on visiting Lynn who is currently in the hospital. She couldn't get through her phone before, After dialing multiple times she finally heard it ringing, it was the hospital staff that picked and informed her about Lynn's condition.

Moments later, Lucas and April were already in the car on the way to drop April.

The silence in the car was awkward and obvious because April had her head lowered.

Lucas immediately knew what she was thinking.

"You don't need to blame yourself for what happened to her, after all she's the one at fault." He said glancing at April who still had her head lowered.

"You also don't have to listen to whatever my mother says, she's just pained."

April looked up at him in surprise "but— she's your mother"

"Yes! She's my mother and that doesn't mean she has to make decisions for a grown up man like me. I don't have to do everything she says, I decide whatever I want." He declared with his eyes on the road.

"Does it mean he also accepted this marriage willingly?" April thought in her mind while staring at him in surprise.
