Kane's POV
"Do your children know? Do they know you are a madman, cast out for being a fanatic?" I asked, watching as he stood calm, his expression blank.
"I'll take that as a no," Valerie muttered. "I have so many questions, like how a Chronicle of Alchemy became an alpha to a clan yet to be discovered."
"Hmm," he groaned, his huge hand gently resting on the painting.
"I came here years ago for the Dark Wood experiment. I wanted to know why the creatures could never leave the woods, but during my time here, I met someone."
"The Alpha," I uttered as I examined the drawing again. Strange symbols covered the wall, and I had no clue what any of them meant.
He exhaled deeply before continuing. "He told me why they stayed hidden. The People of Serenity are preparing not for this war, but for a war far greater. A war we once fought years ago."
"The mundanes," Valerie said. "You're telling me that wasn't a fairy tale?"
