Chapter 43 - Chapter 43: Chicken Fight

Tsunade ignored Shizune's advice. As a gambler, how could she doubt her gambling skills before even starting to gamble?

"Cut the crap! Today, this old lady is going to make a killing. This brat will definitely cry and beg for mercy."

Tsunade counted out thirty thousand ryo and placed them on the table, motioning for Uchiha Ling to open the dice cup and check.

"Heh, Tsunade-jie jie, you're bound to lose today!"

Ling swiftly opened the dice cup, and the numbers on the three dice appeared before everyone's eyes. As expected, it was two, three, and one, clearly a 'small' roll.

"Oh, thank you, Tsunade-jie jie, for the sponsorship! I'll treat everyone to a meal when I win later, you all have to come!"

Ling snatched the thirty thousand ryo banknotes from Tsunade's hand, a wide grin spreading across her face, clearly overjoyed.

Having transmigrated to the Ninja World, how could she not gamble with the Ninja World's famous 'big fat sheep'? If she were still a man, she would definitely make Tsunade lose even her clothes.

"Brat, don't get cocky. Winning the first hand often means you won't win again after that."

Veins throbbed on Tsunade's forehead, clearly indicating extreme anger. She could only reluctantly watch her little money leave her.

"Come on, Tsunade-jie jie, you shake the dice cup. I'll make you lose convinced, and I'm still betting on 'small'."

Ling once again took out thirty thousand ryo and placed them on the table, completely unconcerned about whether Tsunade would cheat.

Are you kidding? Even if Tsunade could cheat, or if she did, she would still lose.

"You stinky brat, you'll regret this!" Tsunade snatched the dice cup with a fierce expression and began shaking it violently. This time, she put all her skill and strength into it.

It was as if the contents of the dice cup weren't dice, but Ling herself, and she wanted to shake her to pieces.

"Open it! Compared to this old lady's gambling skills, your luck is nothing!"

Tsunade crossed her arms, tilted her head back, and looked down at Ling, seemingly confident in the outcome.

"Sigh, why insist on giving me money? Why? I really don't want to win, I'm not interested in winning money."

As Ling spoke these disdainful words, she uncovered the dice cup. Though Tsunade appeared calm on the surface, her eyes were already narrowed, peering through the slits to observe the result.

"Nani! Masaka!" Ling stared in disbelief at the four, three, and three displayed after the dice cup was opened. It was clearly a 'big' roll, though not significantly large, it was still 'big'.

Ling suspected she had misread and rubbed her eyes, activating her one-tomoe Sharingan to check. However, the result was still 'big'.

Tsunade also wore a solemn expression. Even Jiraiya and Kushina, who were nearby, were startled. They all knew what it meant when Tsunade won a gamble.

"Brat, one more round! I need to confirm something." Tsunade thought Ling didn't understand the significance of her winning, so she directly ordered the next game to begin.

"Alright, you still shake it!" Ling no longer spoke loudly, her expression also solemn as she watched the dice cup in Tsunade's hand.

"Should we bet money this time?" Ling wasn't sure if Tsunade's near-divination method required money to be wagered to work.

"Bet! Still thirty thousand ryo! I bet on 'big'!" Tsunade placed the thirty thousand ryo she had just won back onto the table. Ling also took out her own thirty thousand ryo capital.

"Thud!" Tsunade slammed the dice cup onto the table, not daring to open it immediately.

Although she truly didn't know what other relatives she could lose, she also didn't dare to gamble. She still had her grandfather, as well as her companions and close friends.

Ling also trembled slightly as she opened the dice cup, as if it weighed a thousand pounds.

"Phew!" Ling let out a sigh of relief. It seemed Tsunade's divination hadn't taken effect; it was just a normal win or loss, because the numbers were clearly 'small', meaning Ling had won.

The others also breathed a sigh of relief; the tense atmosphere earlier had been somewhat suffocating.

Tsunade's face softened, and then bloomed into an even more radiant smile.

Because she had once again found an opponent with whom she could have mutual victories and losses. This was the first time she had encountered such a person since her great-grandfather's death.

"Sigh, Tsunade-jie jie, being invincible is just so lonely. I won again! No pressure, an easy win."

Ling once again spoke provocatively, as if her victory was due to her own skill.

"Stop bullshitting, again!" Although Tsunade had lost money, she was no longer dejected, because she had found an opponent to peck at like a chicken.

Unsurprisingly, Tsunade won the fourth hand, and then she became smug again.

"Who claims to be invincible? Who dares to say they cannot be defeated!"

Tsunade's trash talk was just as, if not more, flamboyant than Ling's. However, the three spectators found both of their vocabularies to be exceptionally rich.

"Again!" In the fifth hand, Ling won, and it was her turn to be smug.

And so, for the entire afternoon, the two of them won back and forth, one hand after another. Not only were they not bored, but their trash talk grew even more intense.

It wasn't until Uzumaki Kushina and Shizune brought the lavish dinner that the two finally stopped.

"Tsunade-jie, Ling, dinner's ready!" As Uzumaki Kushina spoke, both of their stomachs simultaneously rumbled like thunder.

They were clearly starving. Ling hadn't eaten lunch, having trained all morning. At this point, her gambling addiction seemed to subside, and hunger surged directly into her mind.

Both of them looked at the massive, extremely lavish dinner with green eyes.

Once everyone was seated, they both picked up their rice bowls and chopsticks simultaneously, shouting, "I'm eating!"

To Minato and the other two's astonished gazes, Tsunade and Ling transformed into ruthless eating machines, devouring the food on the table like a storm sweeping away clouds.

Half an hour later, they finished the third table of hastily prepared food, finally appeasing their stomachs and preventing them from rebelling.

"Burp~~~!!!"

One of them couldn't hold it in and let out a roar like an evil dragon that shook the room.

In any case, that evil dragon's roar definitely startled Jiraiya, causing the tea he had just sipped to spray out of his nostrils.

Mainly, one of them was his beloved goddess, and the other was the seemingly young and aloof Uchiha Ling.

Such a contrast was truly a devastating disenchantment for him, almost making him fall out of love with Tsunade.

Only Kushina, listening to their evil dragon roars, burst into a 'ge ge ge' laughter, like a contrarian.

"Alright, brat, thank you for gambling with me today. Take this!"

Tsunade pulled out a scroll and threw it to Ling, which also represented Tsunade's recognition of Ling.

Ling didn't even look. Whatever Tsunade would give her would definitely be a good item, and perfectly suited to her needs.

"Thank you, Tsunade-jie jie."

"Brat, I hope you don't die young."

Ling wiped away non-existent sweat, feeling embarrassed by Tsunade's words.

"As long as you don't give me the First Hokage's necklace, I think I'll probably be fine."

Of course, Ling could only say this in her mind, to avoid touching Tsunade's sensitive nerves.

"I will try my best to live, even in the Great Shinobi War, I will try my best to survive."

Ling understood the reason for Tsunade's anger today. She hadn't expected that giving information to Orochimaru would lead to the Third Shinobi World War possibly breaking out early, and she felt a bit weary.
