THE LAST LESSON OF A SPY
The entire House of Petals had gone deathly silent.
Lady Mirella stood frozen with the knife pressed against Elara's throat while the king stared at her from across the room.
Nobody breathed.
Nobody moved.
The tension was so thick it felt as though a single wrong word would make the entire palace collapse.
Then suddenly...
The king laughed.
Not a small laugh.
Not a polite laugh.
A full, deep laugh that echoed through the damaged hall.
The sound startled everyone.
Including Mirella.
Her brows furrowed as she tightened her grip around Elara.
"Have you finally lost your mind?" she hissed.
The king continued laughing.
His shoulders shook slightly before the amusement slowly vanished from his face.
When he finally looked at her again, his eyes were cold enough to freeze rivers.
"Try it," he said calmly.
Mirella frowned.
The king took another step forward.
"Try it and see who burns first."
