Jefferson didn't want to repeat the same mistake. He immediately rejected his fiancée's phone call so he could spend more time with his beloved. Even though he rejected the call, his fiancée still didn't give up trying to contact him. Of course, he refused again, and this time he wanted to turn off his phone so he wouldn't be disturbed again.
