Chapter 125: The Legion Awakens
"Shatter, Kyōka Suigetsu!"
The surrounding scene shattered like glass.
It was a disorienting shift, a rotation of reality and illusion, a transformation from bloodshed to tranquility.
When all the fragmented pieces of space fell away like a dissipating illusion, a scene of bloody carnage was revealed.
Aizen still stood holding Kyōka Suigetsu in a reverse grip, as if nothing had changed.
Yet, the dozens of menacing black tentacles were severed cleanly at their roots. Dark, viscous blood splattered across the empty rock walls, leaving deep, grotesque stains.
"What is this?!" the Sprite's voice was thick with confusion and shock.
It couldn't comprehend what had just happened. It hadn't seen Aizen move at all. From beginning to end, the boy had simply stood there.
The scene it witnessed defied its understanding. Even as a being from another world, the Sprite found it unbelievable.
Yes, it had been blinded by the reality presented to its senses, plunged into a state of profound disorientation.
"Do you not understand, King of the Undead Legion?" Aizen's voice was light, almost conversational. He gave a slight wave, and Kyōka Suigetsu emitted a soft, humming chime. "This is… the world you are currently in."
He held his Zanpakutō in one hand, standing with an effortless grace, his prevailing aura bringing unimaginable pressure to bear upon the ancient monster.
"You bastard!" the Sprite roared, its emotions boiling over into a shocking, incandescent rage.
If it were in its prime, it would have personally torn Aizen limb from limb.
"How truly ironic, King of the Undead Legion," Aizen continued, unmoved. "You, who have lost your body, sealed within this boundless darkness… are you truly any different from the 'ants' you speak of?"
"I will kill you! I will kill you myself!" the Sprite shrieked. "You will regret the day you ever helped Huang Quan break that seal!"
"I am a king! I am a ruler! I am immortal! I will never cease until you are dead!"
The Sprite's roars of fury tipped into madness. The entire underground chamber trembled violently, seeming unable to contain its wrath.
A vast, oceanic wave of monstrous chakra erupted from the rift, sweeping through the cavern.
Huang Quan shuddered under this immense pressure, his legs giving way, forcing him to his knees. He was like a drop in the ocean—small, insignificant.
"This is not a matter of will," Aizen stated, utterly unaffected by the spiritual tsunami. "For you, who has lost your body, killing me is an almost certain impossibility."
He paid no heed to the Sprite's provocations, his eyes unwavering, the color of eternal contempt within them.
His words were like fuel on a fire, sending the Sprite into a complete frenzy. Yet, it realized that what Aizen said was the truth. Having lost its physical form, the moment it fully left the confines of the stele's remnants, it would begin to dissipate.
Unless it found a container, a vessel, it would never have the means to kill Aizen!
All it could do was roar in helpless fury. It was truly powerless.
Though Aizen's words were always calm, the sheer contempt they carried made the Sprite hate him all the more.
This invisible force was the deadliest of all.
It was at this moment that Huang Quan shakily rose to his feet, a wild excitement in his eyes. He realized his opportunity had arrived.
"Please!" he cried out, his voice cracking with fervor. "Take this body as your physical form! Use my Dark Medical Ninjutsu! Transfer your soul into my body!"
A twisted, sorrowful smile stretched across Huang Quan's lips. He slowly began to unbutton his black robe, revealing his flat abdomen.
"The ritual begins!"
He produced a scalpel from within his robe and, with a brutal motion, stabbed it into his own stomach.
Shink!
Scarlet blood sprayed. A horrifying laceration spread from his collarbone down to his navel.
Huang Quan grabbed two smaller scalpels, using them to pry the wound open, revealing a dark, empty cavity within his torso.
"Please!" he screamed, his voice frantic. "Enter my body, Master Sprite! You and I shall become one! Together, we will kill Aizen!"
The moment his words faded, a massive surge of purple chakra exploded from the fractured stele. This energy was majestic, saturated with powerful soul force, and utterly, profoundly evil.
It streamed toward Huang Quan's gaping abdomen, pouring into his body in a continuous, violent torrent.
THUMP!
Huang Quan's body was thrown backward by the immense impact. At that moment, his eyes were flooded with a strange, pulsating purple light. When his body finally stabilized, his eyes had completely transformed into a solid, soulless black that was deeply unsettling to behold.
"The ritual… is complete."
Huang Quan—or the being that now inhabited his body—reached down and, with a grotesque gesture, sutured the horrific wound on his abdomen. It then let out a wild, triumphant laugh. "I finally have a physical body again! This feeling… is truly magnificent!"
It raised its arms, its voice a distorted blend of Huang Quan's and the Sprite's. "Awaken, my legion! Lend me your strength to crush this arrogant insect!"
"I will make him know the consequences of defying a king! I will make him pay for his sins! I will make him feel the fear that emanates from hell itself!"
The fused entity roared insanely. Purple and black energy warred within its eyes, a visible sign of the two souls vying for dominance. In this moment, Huang Quan's soul had merged with the Sprite, granting him its monstrous power. Though not at the peak of its former strength, it was still a force not to be underestimated.
A burst of purple light erupted from the body, shining like a malevolent flame, casting a dazzling, eerie glow throughout the cavern.
Around the stone bridge, the thousands of stone pillars began to vibrate violently. Then, they shattered, exploding into clouds of dust and fragments that rained down upon the ground.
ROOOOAR!
A tremendous sound, like the precursor to a world-ending storm, filled the air.
All the stone pillars shattered in unison, revealing the legions that had been encased within. They were three-meter-tall stone statues.
Clad in heavy armor, wielding sharp spears and massive longbows.
The so-called Undead Legion was an army of these gigantic, animated stone terracotta warriors.
"Kill him!" the fused Huang Quan-Sprite shrieked, pointing a trembling finger at Aizen. "Trample this ant into dust!"
As one, the spears of every terracotta warrior turned toward Aizen. Their cold, stone points gleamed with a sinister light, piercing enough to chill the soul.
"Enough," Aizen said, his voice cutting through the din with absolute clarity. "It is time to end this farce. A legion of stone statues holds no interest for me."
He calmly leveled Kyōka Suigetsu, then seemed to change his mind, releasing the hilt and raising his open palm instead.
"It seems this Undead Legion is unworthy of serving under my command. In that case, I shall simply erase them."
Spiritual energy swirled around his outstretched hand, the air crackling with immense power.
