Chapter 107: The Unsealing

"Then, in these past two months… was anything I said to you a lie?"

Aizen's gaze held a strange, compelling magic, a hypnotic quality that made one want to believe him, to trust his words implicitly.

At that moment, Naruto froze. A wave of panic washed over him, so intense it was paralyzing. He had the terrifying illusion that every secret hidden within his body, every corner of his soul, was laid bare under that calm, all-seeing gaze. There were no shadows to hide in, no lies that could shield him.

Naruto's face went slack with shock. No words would come.

He was struck by a sudden, horrifying realization. From the very beginning, Aizen had never once asked for his trust. He had never demanded belief. The image of the kind, humble classmate that Naruto had built in his heart… it had been constructed by Naruto himself, brick by brick, over two months of subtle, imperceptible cues and his own desperate longing for connection.

Naruto's expression went blank, his mind wiped clean of all coherent thought. His feet felt as if they were shackled with immense weights, the simple act of lifting them an impossible task. Something deep inside him, something he had clung to, was crumbling into dust.

The bond between partners.

Because of the Nine-Tails fox sealed within him, Naruto had been an outcast in his own village since childhood. An orphan, shunned and feared, he had learned the harshness of the world before he had even learned to properly read.

He had failed the ninja academy graduation exam three times, enduring three years of ridicule from his peers.

Yet, Naruto had never given up his dream of becoming a ninja. No matter how deep the frustration, he always forced a grin and showed the world his most resilient side. While he appeared relentlessly optimistic, possessed of an indomitable spirit, his heart was a lonely place. He hadn't truly understood the meaning of the word "partner" until much later.

It was Iruka's kindness and encouragement that had given him his first lifeline, allowing him to maintain that fragile optimism.

But it was only after being placed on Team 7 with Sasuke and Sakura that Naruto began to truly grasp what a partner meant. When they first met Kakashi and failed his test, being told they were unfit to be ninja, all three had been dejected. But in the end, they understood. They grasped the lesson of teamwork and earned Kakashi's approval. At first, there had been distance and frequent arguments between them. But the life-or-death cooperation in the Forest of Death had shattered those barriers for good.

And then, two months ago, when Naruto had first laid eyes on Aizen Sōsuke, he had felt a flicker of something in the other boy's eyes that he'd mistaken for kinship. A shared loneliness, perhaps. So Naruto, with his whole heart, had reached out. He had shown Aizen the most sincere, unguarded enthusiasm.

Aizen had responded in kind, and their friendship had seemed to form naturally. In Naruto's eyes, Aizen was easy to be around. Gentle, kind, humble, and approachable—a flawless character Naruto found incredibly rare. Gradually, he had come to trust Aizen completely, even seeing him as a goal to surpass.

It was a pity that all of it had now shattered like glass. Aizen had finally shown his true face.

"Damn it!" A flash of stubborn refusal crossed Naruto's pupils, a last, desperate flicker of hope. He couldn't believe a person's nature could change so utterly and so fast. For one person to possess two such completely different personalities was terrifying.

Hearing Naruto's defiant words, Aizen's graceful advance halted. He frowned slightly, a hint of displeasure in his tone. "Have you still not understood, from the very beginning?"

"I told you. From the very beginning, the Aizen Sōsuke you thought you knew never existed at all."

With a mere thought from Aizen, a crushing, ocean-like pressure erupted from him—his Reiatsu made manifest. It washed over the area, distorting the very air and pressing down on the world itself.

Naruto, a mere genin, had no defense against this level of spiritual pressure. In an instant, his body was seized by an immense, invisible force. He grunted, his legs buckling under the weight, and he crashed heavily to the ground.

"Hateful!" Naruto's young face was beaded with sweat, the veins on his arms bulging as he strained with all his might. He struggled desperately, trying to break free from this suffocating coercion, but it was utterly futile. It was as if an invisible hand was pressing down on his spine, forcing his head toward the dirt, making it impossible for him to even look up.

With immense effort, Naruto lifted his head, his eyes burning with a deep, bitter resentment directed at Aizen. It was a resentment born of betrayal, born of the shattering of the trust he had so freely given.

"What a wonderful expression, Naruto Uzumaki," Aizen said, a slight smile touching his lips. "It's alright. Do not grieve for the departure of a companion. Do not despair at your own weakness. You have done well. You can leave the rest to me."

In the space of a single step, Aizen closed the distance, appearing directly in front of the prone Naruto.

He raised his palm, spiritual power coalescing into a visible, shimmering aura around his hand. With a sudden, precise motion, he slammed his palm directly against the seal on Naruto's abdomen.

Thump!

A resonant sound echoed as Aizen's palm made contact.

The boundless spiritual power within his body became a raging torrent, pouring directly into Naruto's seal. With a focused will, Aizen guided this foreign energy to violently erode the complex patterns of the Four Symbols Seal.

Fizz… Fizz… Fizz…

A corrosive sound filled the air as thin, white smoke began to rise from the center of the seal. The dark, intricate runes that formed the prison began to dissolve, fading away at a visible rate.

Simultaneously, Naruto's chakra flared into a violent, chaotic storm. He let out a roar of pure agony, his face contorting in pain. A colossal power, ancient and malevolent, was stirring, fighting to break free from its confines.

Nine-Tails Chakra!

A viscous, blood-red chakra began to bubble forth from Naruto's body like boiling magma. The air around him ignited, the temperature skyrocketing to infernal levels. A scorching, malevolent wind swept outwards in all directions as an earth-shattering presence began to brew.

As the seal continued to fracture, the aura radiating from Naruto grew more and more violent, a palpable omen of a natural disaster about to be unleashed.

Aizen observed it all with detached calm, his eyes merely glinting with analytical interest. In mere moments, the ferocious Nine-Tails would break its bonds completely and re-enter the world.

But at that exact moment, an enraged shout cut through the air from the dense tree line nearby.

"Fire Style: Great Fireball Technique!"

A massive orb of fire materialized without warning, roaring through the air to blast directly into Aizen's exposed back.

BOOM!

The fireball detonated with devastating force, engulfing the area in a raging sea of flames. The spot where Aizen stood was instantly consumed by the inferno.

And on the high Konoha wall not far away, a figure appeared, standing silhouetted against the chaotic sky. His presence was a cold shard of nightmare piercing into the heart of the village's turmoil.

Uchiha Itachi.

The shinobi hailed as a living nightmare by countless in Konoha, had finally arrived.
