Albert wanted to shout for them to stop—if they absolutely had to fight, they could at least wait until they reached the surface. And seriously, picking the wrong person was incredibly awkward!
Of course, there was no way he would actually do what Hayes had said earlier—turn around and abandon him. Judging from the situation, Jameson was clearly coming for him. Hayes was taking the blame for no reason at all.
But what was he supposed to do—yell, "The thing you want is with me"?
