"Something's wrong! What exactly did the First Mizukage do to the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist?
If he could resurrect himself with just seven corpses, then this forbidden jutsu is far too ridiculous!"
Although Yagura wasn't as knowledgeable as Orochimaru, he was still a candidate for Mizukage, he understood at least the basics of forbidden techniques.
The Seven Ninja Swordsmen's bodies had indeed been drained into withered white ash after death by Byakuren.
But both instinct and reason told Yagura that Byakuren must have done something to them before they died.
Even if he believed that the First Mizukage was so noble that he only used their corpses after they'd already fallen, he still couldn't accept that simply seven corpses of elite Mist shinobi could bring back a Kage-level powerhouse from the dead.
If reversing life and death were that easy, Kirigakure wouldn't lose Mizukage after Mizukage.
"Just seven corpses… enough to revive a man? And not just anyone, but Byakuren, one of the original Five Kage.
A forbidden jutsu capable of overturning life and death… requiring such a tiny, insignificant price?
That's… absurd!"
Orochimaru stared fixedly at Byakuren, who had reformed from a chakra state into living flesh after absorbing the chakra of the Seven Swordsmen. His brows twitched slightly.
Clearly, he had reached the same conclusion as Yagura.
Forbidden techniques wield immense power, but with equally immense danger and cost.
Especially those involving the reversal of life and death… not a single one comes without extreme risk.
Yet Byakuren had returned from death using merely seven elite corpses. Orochimaru found it nearly incomprehensible.
"Maybe… I know what's going on here."
Just as Orochimaru and the others were at a loss, a loud, carefree voice suddenly came from behind them.
Everyone turned around.
A Konoha genin dressed head-to-toe in a bright green jumpsuit, sporting thick cropped hair and a brilliant smile, stepped out from the crowd.
"Dad, don't say nonsense. There's no way you could know something so advanced!"
The moment Might Guy saw who had spoken, his expression tightened.
Even though he had learned the Eight Inner Gates from Might Duy and knew his father, mocked as the Eternal Genin, was actually a deeply hidden expert, that didn't change the fact that his father only knew one forbidden technique.
"If it were any other jutsu, I truly wouldn't know. But as it happens, the First Mizukage's technique falls precisely within my area of study."
Under the stares of Orochimaru, Tsunade, and many others, Duy showed no fear or nervousness at all. Instead, he gave Guy a reassuring, confident smile.
"You must be joking. A so-called Eternal Genin… what 'field' could you possibly have studied?
Come, tell me, Substitution Jutsu? Clone Jutsu? Or perhaps the Transformation Jutsu?"
The voice dripping with sarcasm could only belong to one type of shinobi, someone from the Uchiha clan.
"Inabi."
Fugaku's brows twitched, though inwardly he sighed.
He wasn't upset that Uchiha Inabi mocked Might Duy, he was upset about the state of mind spreading through his clan.
But as clan head, he was powerless to change it.
After all, even though Shisui had been defeated by that iron-fisted monster, Kotoamatsukami and the emergence of two pairs of Mangekyo Sharingan in the clan had inevitably inflated Uchiha's arrogance even further.
"No way, Clan Head?
You're not seriously telling me an Eternal Genin has better insight than us Uchiha, right?
All of us here couldn't see through the First Mizukage's forbidden jutsu, but he, an Eternal Genin, could?"
Inabi curled his lip, voice full of disdain.
"The Uchiha's insight is that high? If you don't mind, would you enlighten me as to exactly how high it is? My student could benefit from opening his eyes as well."
Despite Inabi's open mockery and provocation, Might Duy remained completely unfazed. But Might Guy's face flushed red with anger.
He was just about to snap, determined to prove to everyone that his father was not some worthless Genin, when a teasing voice rang from the battlefield's center.
"Student?"
"No way."
"This Eternal Genin… is the student of the Hero of the Shinobi World?"
They didn't need to see the speaker's face. From the voice alone, every Konoha shinobi knew who it was.
…
At this moment, not only Orochimaru and the others, even the newly resurrected First Mizukage Byakuren, turned to stare at Might Duy after hearing Garp speak.
"Lord Garp's student? No way… no way… My dad can't possibly be that amazing!"
Guy felt as though his brain had exploded. His entire mind went blank.
Even as a mere genin, he knew what the title Iron Fist meant in the shinobi world.
But he had never, not even once, imagined that such a man would be his father's teacher.
"Lord Garp's… student!"
Unlike Might Guy and Tsunade, who were shocked and disbelieving, Inabi had gone pale. Completely bloodless.
"Why does that idiot Inabi have to flap his mouth?"
Fugaku felt both shock and fury.
What was wrong with his clan?
It was one thing that they loved to cause trouble, but why did they always provoke Garp?
He had worked tirelessly to clean up the mess from Shisui's previous disaster.
And barely two days after that was resolved, Uchiha Inabi had publicly insulted Garp's disciple right in front of everyone.
At this moment, Fugaku truly wanted nothing more than to rip Inabi's mouth right off his face.
