Chapter 74 - Chapter 74: Duy’s Insight

"Garp-sensei, it's all thanks to your guidance that my taijutsu has reached its current level!"

Facing countless stunned gazes, Duy felt a little embarrassed. But since Garp had already taken the initiative to reveal their connection, he no longer hid it.

He simply straightened his back and bowed respectfully toward Garp, who was exchanging stares with the First Mizukage not far away.

This action, without a doubt, completely confirmed his identity as the disciple of a hero, making every Uchiha face in the area go as dark as the bottom of a burned pot.

Especially Inabi, his face was now as ugly as his earlier arrogance had been loud.

"Dad, so you really were Lord Garp's student?"

Guy was completely dumbfounded.

This turn of events came too suddenly, too fiercely, so much so that even someone as hot-blooded, youthful, and thick-headed as him felt the world spinning.

"Actually, I only happened to receive a few pointers from Sensei. Strictly speaking, I can't really be considered his student."

Duy scratched his hair awkwardly, embarrassed by the admiration shining on his son's face.

He spoke humbly, but every Uchiha present, each and every one of them, had an expression that could be used to extinguish flames.

"Hahaha! Garp, I didn't expect you to take an eternal genin as your student.

Don't tell me you saw me revived again and got scared I'd come looking for revenge, so you planned to use this thick browed brat to make me laugh myself to death?"

Byakuren looked Duy up and down. The more he looked, the harder he laughed.

Even though earlier all his attention had been on reviving and guarding against Garp, Inabi's mocking voice had been so loud that it was impossible not to hear.

"Byakuren, do you believe this so-called eternal genin could kill you like it's child's play?"

Garp grinned right back, unfazed by Byakuren's mockery.

"Don't tell me this ridiculous thick-browed kid has learned your techniques?"

Byakuren's laughter abruptly stopped. He couldn't help but take another close look at the seemingly unimpressive Might Duy.

"Kill the First Mizukage like it's nothing?"

"If I remember correctly, Duy can't do anything except taijutsu."

"Idiot, did you forget? Lord Garp conquered the entire Warring States Era with the strongest taijutsu in the ninja world."

The moment Garp spoke, the Konoha and Kirigakure shinobi alike shifted their gazes toward Duy, completely differently than before.

Especially those Konoha ninja who knew him well.

They couldn't help but imagine, perhaps Duy wasn't incapable of ninjutsu, perhaps, as Iron Fist's disciple, he simply disdained to practice anything other than taijutsu.

"Dad, I finally get it. No wonder you always insisted that even if a person can't use ninjutsu or genjutsu, taijutsu alone can make them a powerful shinobi.

So you weren't just trying to encourage me… you meant it literally!"

Guy, after imagining it all, was fired up from head to toe.

"That's right! Exactly!"

Duy's expression was awkward.

Because back then, he really had just been trying to comfort and motivate his son.

"Duy, what's going on with the First Mizukage's forbidden jutsu?"

Orochimaru glanced at Fugaku and the others' wonderful expressions, then asked Duy casually.

The situation had arrived suddenly, but he had already adjusted his state of mind.

He didn't grovel to Duy, but neither was he arrogant, he treated him as an equal shinobi.

"You should have heard of the Eight Gates of the human body."

Duy nodded.

"The Eight Gates…"

At those words, Orochimaru cast a glance toward the First Mizukage, his expression becoming thoughtful.

"Did this Duy really see through it?"

Fugaku's Sharingan caught the moment Byakuren's expression stiffened.

"What does the Eight Gates have to do with a forbidden technique that reverses life and death?"

Inabi asked stiffly.

His tone no longer carried a trace of its earlier conceit.

"You all saw how the Seven Ninja Swordsmen suddenly released terrifying amounts of chakra.

You must have thought their seven swords granted them that power, right?

But the truth is, it wasn't the swords at all. The First Mizukage sealed a forbidden technique inside each of the seven blades.

If I'm not mistaken, that technique forcibly destroys the Eight Gates, releasing all the chakra restrained by them."

As Duy spoke, the First Mizukage's expression shifted from stiff to outright shocked.

"Destroy the Eight Gates? Then wouldn't the Seven Ninja Swordsmen…"

"Die! The Eight Gates are the body's protection. Think about the locations of the first two gates, Gate of Opening, Gate of Healing.

The brain!

Destroying the Eight Gates by force… Even if only the first gate is shattered, the Seven Swordsmen's fate could only be death.

Not to mention that earlier, each of them had at least five gates destroyed, otherwise they could never have released that level of chakra!"

Before Tsunade could question him, Duy spoke solemnly.

As the only taijutsu user of this era to have pushed the Eight Gates to the Gate of Death, no one understood the human body's gates better than him.

And because he knew them so well, the moment the Seven Swordsmen unleashed that overwhelming chakra, he knew they were done for.
