Chapter 3 - Bizarre Susan

2030 AD: The Giant opened its mouth and let out a strange sound filled with a mysterious curse.

With this noise, the history books of Earth turned to a new chapter called The Apocalypse .

At that moment, many ancient creatures hiding in the dark, asleep for thousands of years, broke their genetic locks. They began to return to the great forms of their ancestors from millions of years ago, trying to bring back their past glory!

This group of creatures naturally included the current ruler of Earth: humans!

The human genetic chains, which were once held back by their creator, were now unlocked, starting a new evolution. Jason, who was a close college friend of Johnsen, quickly noticed a huge change in himself.

Johnsen shouted like a confused child: "What is happening? Why do I have a data panel in front of my eyes? Why is there something like game levels, too!"

Jason looked calm. He calmly checked his own status panel.

Looking at the panel, which was the same as in his past life, Jason felt nothing. His stats were truly weak. The only surprise was that his Spirit was much higher than before, and he had a new skill, the Eye of Appraisal. Jason stroked his chin, thinking this might be because he was reborn .

Smack!

While Jason was planning his future, Johnsen's big hand suddenly slapped his shoulder. He whispered excitedly: "Old Lin, I think I have a System like in online novels! Am I the legendary Chosen Hero?"

"Hmm, maybe," Jason took a small step back.

"Hahaha, I knew it! A handsome guy like me is usually the hero in games!" Johnsen boasted. The few hairs left on his head moved wildly as he spoke.

Watching Johnsen's proud face, Jason remembered the past. He recalled that this guy didn't survive the first round of the apocalypse; maybe he died on the very first day. Jason remembered a former colleague saying Johnsen was killed by a Bizarre.

"Jason, I have to tell Susan about this." Johnsen finished speaking and was about to go home, but he stopped after a few steps.

The reason was simple: a loud noise suddenly came from inside his house, along with the roar of a wild animal. The sound was like the howl of a wolf and was very disturbing, spreading like a virus in the narrow hallway.

Hearing this sound, Jason's eyes became sharp. This was the sound of a Bizarre. He didn't expect to have such bad luck to meet one right at the start of the apocalypse.

A Bizarre is a creature that failed to evolve. The first time the world "levels up" , it brings a strong genetic shock to creatures. Weak people feel extreme pain, and those with bad luck might have their genes break down completely, turning them into a Bizarre—a creature with no mind that only knows how to eat and evolve.

Thinking this, Jason cursed his bad luck for running into a Bizarre so fast. And this Bizarre was most likely Johnsen's girlfriend, Susan. In his past life, Johnsen was likely killed by his own girlfriend.

"What is that noise in my house?" Johnsen asked, his voice shaking. He wanted to go inside, but the terrifying feeling coming from the room made him stop.

It felt like prey meeting a predator—a deep fear from his genes—making Johnsen's legs tremble as he stepped back. It was as if something terrifying was inside his room.

Jason remained calm. His experience from his past life allowed him to quickly control his emotions to face the danger. He reached into his pocket and felt the God-Demon Fruit—his biggest lifeline and the card he least wanted to use.

Boom!

Just then, the wall suddenly exploded. A human-like monster, looking like a long-armed ape with messy hair and glowing purple eyes, crashed through the wall and rolled out of Johnsen's apartment.

Its eyes fixed on Jason and Johnsen. Saliva dripped from its mouth, as if it had found delicious food.

"Susan!" Johnsen cried in disbelief. He never expected his beautiful girlfriend to turn into such a scary monster.

Their eyes met instantly!

In a flash, Johnsen seemed to be under a spell. He wasn't afraid of Bizarre Susan anymore. Instead, he seemed to be mentally controlled and started walking towards her step by step.

Johnsen held out his arms, staring deeply at the Bizarre, and muttered, "Susan, it's me! I'm your beloved Johnsen, my dear!"

Jason looked normal. From his experience, Johnsen's strange behavior was definitely related to Bizarre Susan. But Jason neither stopped Johnsen nor rushed to take action. He knew that after a Bizarre finds a target, it takes about 30 seconds to think and choose who to attack.

In this valuable moment, he used his level 1 Appraisal skill on Bizarre Susan to get information. Soon, the Bizarre Susan's information appeared before him.

Race:Bizarre Human

Level:Black Iron 1

Strength:15

Speed:10

Spirit:10

Stamina:30

Charm:35

Abilities:Unknown (Level too high to identify)

Rating:Bizarre Human with unlimited potential.

After seeing the panel, Jason felt uneasy. He hadn't expected her stats to be so high, and she also had an unbelievable Charm of 35+. Is this why Johnsen is acting so weird? Is it caused by Bizarre Susan's high Charm and unknown ability?

"Goo goo goo…" Bizarre Susan made strange noises. Her neck started twisting irregularly, and her arms and legs flailed around.

But Johnsen, blinded by love, became strangely excited by this. In his mind, it seemed like Bizarre Susan was showing him love.

When Jason, the reborn one, saw Bizarre Susan's movements, he immediately looked serious! He knew this was the sign that a Bizarre was about to attack. And he knew that once a Bizarre attacks, it won't stop until every living thing in its sight is killed, or until it destroys itself!

It's either you die or I live! A fight was unavoidable!

With Jason's current power, he could not beat Bizarre Susan. But luckily, he had the God-Demon Fruit as his key to victory. He pulled the fruit out of his pocket. After the world leveled up, the God-Demon Fruit glowed faintly white, looking even more tempting!

After a moment of thought, Jason's eyes became firm, and he took a large bite of the fruit! He had to give up his original plan to get a different God-Demon Fruit, but right now, the only thing that mattered was survival!
