Aurora clasped her hands together. An Ice Cage emerged beside her. The Glacial Wight put her hand on the ice cage.
The tall ice pillar shrunk significantly and Aurora's torn off arm regrew.
The power of her passive ability, Body of Ice. She could regenerate all wound by absorbing ice and snow.
There was no ice and snow on the field but she could absorb her own spells to activate its power.
"The Wight has a very good instinct in battle." Mater observed everything in the dark. "But let me guide you on how to actually battle."
With the mental connection created by the Submission Seal, Mater commanded Aurora on her next steps.
"Reserve your strength. First, use Ice Spikes to create a wall around you."
Aurora placed her hand onto the ground. Spikes of ice emerged around her, creating a wall made of pointy sharp ice. The ground was also affected, filling with slippery ice.
The lizard charged at Aurora again. When it got close to the spikes wall, its feet slid on the ice and its body lost control. The lizard launched itself to a spike and its abdomen was caught by the sharp pointy edge.
The spike punctured its abdomen. Black blood flooded out.
The lizard hissed loudly. It pushed itself out of the spike and quickly retreated. New flesh and skin appeared and sewed the wound close.
"Its regenerative power can also heal wound. Not limited to limb regrowth alone. Interesting." Mater observed the lizard closely, keeping mental notes of its power.
The black cat commanded Aurora to attack the lizard again. Because of the ice around her, the temperature lowered greatly, boosting her own power.
The ice pillar shot up unexpectedly with a much higher speed than before. It was also bigger with a much thicker ice wall.
The lizard was completely caught inside the pillar and was unable to move.
The walls of the ice cage themselves were surfaces. So Mater controlled Aurora to summon spikes from within the cage.
The lizard had no where to run. The spikes punctured into its body and left countless opened wound of black blood. Its body trembled lightly but it was unable to move. The lizard let out a low groan of pain.
"Watch carefully, my minion. This is how you use your spells. You have to combine them together. Not using it separately. Ice Cage to trap the enemy and Ice Spikes to turn them into a sponge."
"Yes, Master. I will remember this lesson well." Aurora answered Mater in her mind.
If it was any other creature, it would have died already. But the lizard was very resilient. Its regenerative power allow it to stay alive even after countless punctured wounds.
When the effect of the Ice Cage ran out, the walls of ice disappeared, giving back the lizard freedom. It didn't look back and ran as far away from Aurora as possible. A trail of black blood was left behind its path.
"Ssss!" The lizard hissed loudly. Its wounds slowly closed up. Its regenerative power was impressive but Mater could clearly see the healing rate was slower.
It was getting tired.
"Try to fight the lizard by yourself from now on, Aurora. I want to see how much you can learn." Mater conversed with Aurora telepathically.
"Yes, Master."
Aurora's gaze shot over the lizard. The lizard shuddered and immediately dashed away. It climbed onto the ceiling with its tail dangling non-stop behind its body.
"If you don't have any other tricks, lizard. Aurora will kill you." Mater meowed.
The lizard suddenly stood up on two legs and ran like a human. Its speed was once more increased. The claw in its hand extended and became bigger.
"More physical enhancement? Interesting."
The lizard was even faster than before. Aurora used an Ice Cage to trap it but it effortlessly outran the spell.
The lizard ran an entire round above the ceiling then got down on the ground. It dashed at Aurora with its long claw.
Aurora used Ice Cage again to catch it. She anticipated its path and summoned the ice pillar in front of it.
The lizard plunged its claw onto the ground, using the claws as brake to quickly decrease its momentum. Its claw scraped on the cold platform of the sewer. The ice pillar emerged but missed the lizard.
"Very smart. It is too fast to effectively redirect so it used its hand instead." Mater commented.
The lizard pulled itself up with its claw and changed its direction. It attacked Aurora from another side. It got close enough to attack her.
Its claws swiped into the walls of ice spike, destroying them like glass. Aurora used Ice Spikes to reinforce the wall and also attacked the lizard from below. But it was very cunning and ran away every time.
"A caster that needs to keep her distance. And a melee warrior.
Aurora needs to protect herself with the ice spikes. While the lizard wants to get close to finish her off. Who will get the upper hand?"
The lizard tried its same tactic before and attacked the thinnest ice wall. Aurora summoned an Ice Cage behind the lizard, preventing its escape route.
The lizard hissed. It tried to find another direction to escape but the Ice Spikes already appeared and punctured into its legs.
"Hahaha! By blocking the lizard from behind, Aurora made sure her spell would hit. Very good. Very good, my minion. You impress me.
Now. Playtime is over. We should end this quickly.
Chains of Shadow!"
Before the lizard escaped again. Black chains reached out from darkness and restrained it. Mater's Chains of Shadow could only root an enemy while Aurora's Ice Cage could make them unable to move.
However, Mater's Chains of Shadow had much faster cast time and was more unexpected.
"Finish it." Mater meowed.
Aurora clasped her hands together. An ice pillar shot up from the ground and imprisoned the lizard. Then she used all of the remaining Chaos in her body to summon ice spikes within the ice cage.
Even with the power to heal itself, the countless amount of spikes overwhelmed the lizard. It quickly got punctured into a piece of cheese.
Its regenerative ability gave up and was unable to save the lizard this time.
The lizard hissed loudly as its final words. Its head dropped down and it died.
The Ice Cage disappeared and the cold body of the giant lizard dropped to the floor.
Mater approached Aurora by flying on the Dark Grimoire. He climbed up her shoulder while Aurora held the book in her arms.
"A very impressive performance, minion. With you, I am confident to deal with whatever the ritual holds."
"Thank you for the compliment, Master!" The Wight smiled.
Mater was frozen by its beautiful outlook and he was also surprised. It just smiled.
"Does this mean the wight retain some of its humanity from when it was alive? Only time will tell." Mater thought to himself.
"Let's dissect the lizard. We need its Chaos Stones."
"Yes, Master."
