Chapter 28 – The Rules of Growth and system

Joshua exhaled, the small bowl of soup forgotten on his lap. Ray hovered in the candlelight, looking far less smug and far more serious than he had minutes before.

> "I have made adequate preparation already," Ray said, voice low.

Joshua blinked. "preparations ?—what do you mean?"

Ray's grin fell. He folded his tiny arms, and the air in the room seemed to tighten, as if something unseen was listening.

> "I mean this."

A soft chime filled the narrow room — a clean, crystalline sound that brushed the edges of Joshua's memory like a distant bell. Light traced the air above the table and then, impossibly, a rectangular pane of silver-blue shimmered into view. Symbols crawled across it in slow, deliberate lines.

Joshua's breath hitched.

> "Is this what I think it is?" he asked, excitement visible in his tone.

> "Yes — it's your very own system," Ray replied.

For a moment, Joshua felt the urge to scream out in pure excitement, but he held himself back. His hands trembled slightly as he focused on the glowing panel.

Joshua's eyes practically glowed as he read through the screen.

> "Just like the video games… but how is this possible?" he asked.

> "It's the Creator's blessing," Ray explained, his gaze shifting toward the bottom of the interface. "It allows you to use passive skills from the twenty-four divine blessings."

Then his tiny eyes widened.

> "Wait—what is this? How did I become your pet?!"

Joshua grinned.

> "Hehehehe, I told you. Well, at least I won't be alone in this. Seems you're stuck completing this mission with me."

> "Noooooooo!" Ray wailed dramatically, wings flapping.

Joshua burst into laughter, nearly spilling the bowl of soup still beside him. Then, grinning, he reached toward the shimmering interface and tapped the next tab.

Joshua's eyes darted across the floating panel, lips parting slightly.

"Wow… I expected this," he murmured, scratching the back of his head, "but that's low."

The screen pulsed faintly, as if mocking him.

> "Pfft, low?" Ray said, peeking over the glowing words like a nosy parrot. "For a ten-year-old human, that's actually impressive. Your resolve stat alone is higher than most adults."

Joshua raised a brow. "Are you trying to compliment me or insult me?"

> "Both," Ray answered with a cheeky grin.

Joshua sighed, then tapped the glowing panel again. A new section unfolded in front of him — lines of light forming sentences
