"So I understand you said that you have to stay by my side. I also understand that you were the cat from that night. I even understand that you apparently don't remember how you were reduced to just a heart. I get it. I really do. What I don't get is WHY ARE YOU IN MY BAG?!" It's been 1 week since I met Louhi and fought Allister and things have been weird. I still feel really cold whenever I go to sleep but I haven't been able to contact Louhi again, if it weren't for Allister being pretty insistent that she exists I might have written it off as a dream. As for him, Allister has mostly stayed in his cat form since apparently using his human body and clones takes a lot of energy out of him. I'll admit it's easier to hide a cat than a full size human but it's still a bit jarring. Although having someone else who knows about the wand has been refreshing. The main downside is that sometimes he's very insistent on following me around and other times he'll disappear for hours on end. There was also that time he insisted I go to sleep but with the look in his eye I feel like he's referencing something I don't get.
"Like I've explained, Louhi considers you a worthy candidate to be a hero. As the 1 who found you and the 1 who caused you trouble, it's my job to watch over you." He speaks through the hole I left on the zip of my backpack.
"I mean, in regards to the trouble bit I did dissect you so I feel like that would make us even." I get some strange looks from onlookers as I talk into my backpack.
"Even if we were to take that as true, you've done me an even greater favour by giving me a name. For that you have my eternal loyalty."
I manage to make it onto the train just as the doors are closing.
"Oh, um, thanks." I say bashfully. That's a little much but I'm not really sure how to tell him that.
"Although you didn't stop to get those biscuits I like so much so I'm afraid I'll have to challenge you to a death match." Oh brother not this
again.
"I'll get some more next chance I get. Fight me and you have to buy then yourself." I say flatly. It's taken work to be able to talk to someone like that. I feel a little bad.
"The death match is postponed.".
"Thought so.".
"Alright recruits! It's time for the mission to begin. You will be helping in the transport of the anti-sky rail cannon's ammunition. Make your way to the helipad." Instructor Audrey had gotten straight to business once we all arrived at the facility. Makes sense. It's the 24th September 2355 so there's not much else to do to prepare. Luckily all trainees are permitted to bring a single bag of personal belongings on the mission. Not as lucky is the fact that they're checking what's inside! This is obviously a problem given that I have a cat in there. Even worse is that he's a kaiju cat. They'd either lock him up or cook him for dinner!
"Oh my gosh it's a kaiju!" I yell while pointing at the air. Everyone immediately looks up, the officers placing their hands of their guns. Allister takes the hint and scrambles out the hole in the zip of the bag as fast as he can. This is so stressful! He runs past the checkpoint and I don't think anyone saw him. "Oh. My mistake everyone." I say as many angry eyes lock onto me. I also spot Lilith and misty trying to hold back laughter. I'm going to explode! They probably won't even let me go on the mission!
"Let's be more careful next time." The instructor said with venom in her voice. She's gonna kill me! "When you arrive at the checkpoint you will receive a card. Red cards go left while blue cards go right." I guess they aren't going to tell us who the decoy is. That makes sense I suppose. At the checkpoint nothing out of the ordinary was found in my bag except for a few strands of cat hair. I just need to trust that Alister can find his way back in without being seen. It'll probably be fine. Maybe. I'm handed a red card so I guess that means I should go left.
"Looks like we're together." I overhear misty say to Lilith. I look over and see them both holding blue cards. A tiny 1 for Lilith which is a little funny. Not that I'd tell her that. It's a little disheartening that we won't have 2 of our strongest people on the team but I guess we'll make do.
"They're making this too easy." Lilith says as they 'fist bump', but really it's more her punching misty's fist at full force. Good thing that they're confident. When I make it to the absolutely massive helicopter on the left I see who else is on the red team. It's actually quite a stacked line up. Shen plus the other 4 of his group, Lola and Boba, Howlett and a couple people I'm not really familiar with. They even have a superhero on the team. They just don't know it.
"Hey drug guy! Good to see you!" Boba calls out. Does he actually not know my name? I just wave awkwardly. Soon we all get into the helicopter. There are way too many seats in here for us. In the middle of the vehicle was a huge metal box with a keypad on its side. If we aren't the decoys then this is the ammunition. Feels a little weird knowing that there are horrendously powerful weapons so close by, but I guess that's kinda my life now anyways. I see my bag rustle slightly in the compartment under my seat. When did he get back in? Soon afterwards 10 soldiers walk into the helicopter and sit in the unoccupied seats. I'm so used to seeing rangers that it is weird seeing mundane body armour and assault rifles. The most interesting thing about them is the skull masks hiding their faces with a camera on the side of it. That's how they'll be monitoring us for grading. There was a push for cameras on trainees but a campaign from wealthy parent shut that down pretty fast.
"They seem a little underdressed." Lola said with a smirk.
"Show some respect. These are still ranger officers even if they haven't been placed in a team. We're the main fighting force here anyway." Shen replied sternly with arms crossed. The helicopter began to take off as he says this which gives it a dramatic flair that I quite appreciate. I'm going to use this trip to try and better understand how the-I mean my wand works. Louhi says that it's bonded to me and is a 'hyper optimised Kaiju matter production factory', which I think means that I've been limiting myself with pre set ideas of what I can do. This means by contemplating my bond with the wand and the creatures inside I could grow even stronger. Should be simple enough given that I'm not that popular. No one here will interpret me.
"Drug guy! Did you bring snacks?!" Or Lola could immediately interrupt me. That's also a likely scenario. Why would they be asking me
anyway?
"No shouting!" Shen shouts hypocritically. This sparks a shouting match between the high ranks and the twins with such highlights as: "shouldn't they be serving you at a restaurant?!" "I'll cut your tail off!" And my personal favourite, "go jump up your own mothers ass and die!" Unexpectedly given by number eight, who's name is Trevor if I heard right. It's good to see that they all have so much energy. Only problem is that I can't really concentrate like this.
"So I hear your brothers a ranger. What's that like?" Howlett suddenly asks. Where's this coming from?
"Um yeah. He doesn't talk too much about it though." Maybe he does. I wouldn't know I barely talk to him.
"I see. Having someone so manly as a brother must be interesting." Well he nearly arrested me so I guess so. Can't exactly mention that part though.
"Yeah I mean he never wears a shirt so that's something." Does he know that Satoshi is a shadow ranger? Would it matter if he was? They are the second highest ranking rangers, but on the other hand they have a reputation for being exceptionally brutal. So I'll probably just leave that out.
"Is it true that he's the shadow ranger?" Hm.
"Yeah." I say while trying to avoid eye contact.
"Would you be able to arrange a spar between us?".
"NO!" I yell without thinking. This causes everyone to stop yelling and look at me. Yippee. "I mean um, I don't think I can do that. He has a pretty busy schedule you know." I say sheepishly. The truth is that Satoshi would literally kill this guy and I can't really let that happen. But If I tell Howlett that it might hurt his feelings. So this is my next best option.
"Alright sorry man." Howlett says defensively. Dammit! "Look, I get it. It's in a man's nature to want to walk his own path. That's a lot more difficult when people constantly bring up your family." He tries to do a dramatic pose but can't because of the seatbelt. That's not really the problem but I appreciate him trying to be understanding. The rest of the journey is pretty uneventful. Since I can't really focus on Kaiju boy stuff with everyone being so loud I pull out mariner satellite volume 17 from my bag to read. Allister was almost spotted but I played it off as a really well made plushie. This lasted for 3 hours which was almost long enough to forget the danger. We're flying into an area filled with mountains and infested with Kaiju. It's 1 thing to face a single Kaiju in an area with lots of support, this is definitely another. Along with that there are armed soldiers watching our every move. Most of the others would be fine if shots started firing, I definitely wouldn't. For now though we're fine. I just hope the blue team is doing alright. At least there's an amazing view of the mountains from up here. Although after seeing the ones in my Louhi dream these ones are a bit less impressive. And with the Kaiju travelling around they look more like hills.
"What are you doing?" Lola asks Shen who has his eyes closed and wings raising up and down.
"I'm meditating. Now be quiet." He responds without opening his eyes.
"Dude, do you ever have fun?" She asks as she gently starts nudging him with her tail.
"Fun is a distraction from getting stronger. If I'm going to beat Lilith I'll need even more power." I think he's starting to get agitated.
"You really think you can pull that of? She's been undisputed number 1 for years." Lola ups the nudging.
"Undisputed is a very strong term." I think I can see the veins popping.
"No it's pretty accurate. She's beaten you like a million times my dude." She's starting to rock back and forth.
"It's only been like 6!" He opens his eyes and looks directly at her.
"Wait really? I was kidding!" She's enjoying this.
"If we get complacent in our ranking then we might as well be dead!" That's a bit much but ok.
"Ok ok. But shouldn't you focus on like, number 3 first? Seems like your over reaching my dude." She looks a tiny bit scared. I feel a
little bad for her but she kinda brought this on herself. At least she stopped the tail nudging.
"Misty isn't worth my rivalry. Lilith has been arrogant for far too long!".
"You shouldn't talk about them like that." I blurt out without thinking. This causes both of them to focus on me, Shen still carrying his anger from seconds before. Gosh darn it.
"Attention all passengers. Please buckle your seatbelts as we will be descending shortly." The pilot saves me with the announcement. My stomach turns a little bit as we descend. I like flying with Raven better. I see my bag shake slightly as I think that. The landing is indicated by a soft thud and the lights turning green. The Door slowly opens as a rail rises from the floor, lifting the large metal box. The box starts to slide down the rails and we follow suit. As we exit the vehicle it becomes clear who the decoy is. I can't tell if the blue team is lucky or unlucky. Before us is an absolutely gigantic cannon that looks like it dug into the mountain. Actually, that's underselling it. It had replaced the mountain. That's how big it is. The metal barrel looked like it could shoot a skyscraper out of it.
"Haruo! Don't fall behind!" Shen calls out from the door to the building. I guess I got distracted by the cannon. My bad. I jog over to join them. I notice that the rail slid perfectly into the door, leaving no gaps. 2 soldiers place a card on either side of the door and it slides open. The box starts moving again and we all make our way inside. I didn't see any guns or defences outside, I wonder what kind of security this place has. Allister rummages around in my bag so I give it a light elbow, just to make sure we aren't caught. After walking through sterile hallways for a few minutes, walking past many identical guards as we do. Eventually we make it to another door that requires cards. The guards waiting by the door use the card that they have to let us through. We're now in what looks like a lab. The room was filled with all sorts of devices that looked they'd been taken apart and reassembled a hundred times. To the left there was also a bunch of manikins with ranger uniforms over them. The last distinguishing feature that I could see was a massive window that let you look out into the mountains. Or more accurately the large open 'tunnel' where mountains should have been, leading in the direction of the barren lands and I assume new London. So that's what the anti-sky cannon can do.
"Thank you so much! I'm so glad we got these!" A cheery woman in a lab coat ran up to us. She than ran right past us and started hugging the box. "Oh I'm so glad you're here! My little grim reapers!" That can't be comfortable. Lola starts twirling her finger next to her head. Boba is trying to hold back a laugh. I don't get it.
"Ahem." Shen tries to get her attention. Nothing. "AHEM." Still nothing. "EXCUSE ME!" He says while his wings light up. This 1 finally works. Hurray for persistence. The scientist turns around and gets some of her
black hair in her mouth.
"Oh right. Good job recruits!" She gives a big thumbs up. Is she not going to get that hair out of her mouth? "You've past the first half of
the test!" I guess she isn't. That bothers me more than it should. Wait, first half?
"What's the other half?" Howlett asks.
"Ya see, this mountain region is absolutely chock full of magnetic material! We use the same principle of a railgun to draw all this
magnetic force into one spot, then we launch a bullet out of it! It's easily the most powerful weapon in human history!" She says with a proud look on her face.
"Is there a stop between here and the point?" Allister whispers in my bag. I give another nudge.
"Main problem for a long time was that pesky friction got in the way! It burnt up the bullets! So we needed bigger bullets! But that means they're slower! So less power! Until I invented atlasite! It's able to withstand the heat! Unfortunately Kaiju absolutely hate the stuff! Something about how it smell I think! So when they sense some in the area they come running in a rage! The box can only do so much! So we need you lot to take care of any ruffians until we can put it in the proper storage bay ok?! Die for the cause if necessary!" She finishes with a big smile on her face. Also I know it's not important but that hair is still in her mouth. Also what?!
"Why were we not informed of this?!" Trevor asks with rage in his voice.
"It's not much of a test if it's easy! Don't even worry! It's possible that there won't even be any Kaiju!".
"Will we receive help if we're in trouble?"
The female high ranker asks.
"Yeah probably!" The scientist says while looking away. Not really convincing.
"You expect us to risk our lives on that?!".
"Calm down Sam. It's like she said, there may not even be any Kaiju." Shen says while placing a hand on her shoulder. I guess her name Is Sam. I'm learning a lot of names today.
"Yeah but that was then! You've got to live in the moment! There's a horde being led by 3 A ranks coming right this way!" The scientist says while keeping that same smile on her face. We all just stand there stunned for a moment. After a few minutes of arguing that made me feel a little bad for the soldiers, we all accepted that we'd just have to bite the bullet on this 1.
"Will the government really be ok with losing us?" I ask without thinking. The scientist looks right at me. Awesome.
"Of course not little buddy! Your all super valuable resources after all. Just know that good old dr Bennet is rooting for you!" That didn't feel too reassuring. After that came the planning stage, I didn't really have anything to contribute beyond staying in the back and healing anyone who needed it. Like always. Yippee. I obviously had a bit more insight into the situation, but not anything I could say without blowing my cover.
"Alright, I'm aware that this is unexpected, but remember that this is our duty and we need to-".
"LETS KICK SOME ASS!!!" Lola and Boba yelled simultaneously, interrupting Shen. Poor guy. We all awkwardly move towards our positions. Everyone else watching in the roof while I wait by the entrance. Alone. This should work pretty well. This is actually my first big battle. I make sure the door stays open so I can more quickly get to people. I had to really push for that to be allowed. Or the high ranks did but details aren't that important.
"Everyone get ready!" Shen yelled as we booming footsteps got louder. A class Kaiju are the second most dangerous type, but seeing them in person really reinforces it. Marching over the mountaintops were 3 humongous
bipedal lizards, at least 900 ft tall. They were all breathing streams of fire, I assume for intimidation, sometimes hitting each other. They were followed by a large amount of l other reptilian creatures. Nowhere near as big as the leaders but still as big as a house. Do they really expect us to fight all that?! "Move out!" Everyone made their way over to the horde, moving at speeds even a car likely wouldn't match. The plan was simple. The high ranks will focus everything they have on the A ranks while everyone else tries to keep
the horde at bay. If we can take out the big ones then the small ones will either be cowed into submission or be easy pickings. As Howlett runs he starts to bulk up, growing black fur over his body and gaining sharp claws and teeth. He looks like a stereotypical werewolf, would not have guessed that's what his ability was. It becomes hard to see any of them after a while because of the dust they kick up.
" I hope this goes well." I seemingly say to myself, although the truth is a bit more strange.
"These are nothing compared to the threats you'll be facing in the future. A hero must be strong in the face of adversity." The talking cat in my bag said.
"Right. Yeah. Lord starfall is probably a billion times more dangerous than these things.".
"Don't underestimate him." Oh wow. The kaiju children finally reach the actual Kaiju and the battle begins. I feel like I'd have more to say on it if I was actually there. Or if it wasn't a mile away. Shen took to the skies and started launching feathers at the A ranks. The feathers then pull themselves out and start flying around on their own, slashing the kaiju as they go. He effortlessly dodged streams of fire as he continues his onslaught. It's easy to see why he's number 4. The other high ranks help out as well, Sam pulling an actual sword out of her stomach and doing acrobatics all over the kaiju, drawing blood wherever she went. Trevor placed his hands on the ground and a second later colossal vines burst from the ground, restraining the fire lizards, if only for a minute or so. From this moment on I shall call them fizzards. Anyway the high ranks weren't the only ones putting in work. Lola and Boba were using their invisibility to do hit and run tactics. Or they might just not be there. Either 1 really. Howlett was quite literally tearing through Kaiju like a hit knife through butter. Unfortunately he was getting hit just as much as he was doing the hitting.
"I should probably go and help." I say as I reach into my backpack.
"Absolutely not!" Allister shouts as he scratches my hand.
"Ow! Not cool!" I manage to get the wand regardless.
"This is a bad idea. They have this under control. Plus what if your spotted?" He makes a good point I'll admit.
"Yeah but Howlett needs healing. I think we should have waited for the kaiju to get closer for easier access but oh well. Plus aren't I supposed to be training?".
"That was surprisingly well thought out for you." Wait. What's that supposed to mean?
"Also if you let me go I'll buy you so many biscuits." I negotiate with the talking cat in my bag. Wow my life got weird fast.
"Really?! I mean, if you feel you must then go." He's very easy to read. " luckily I've prepared for this possibility." He suddenly jumps out the bag and transforms into his human form. Except it's not his human form.
It's mine?!
"Since when can you do that?!" I jump back in surprise.
"Hurry up and go! I can't stay like this for too long!" He's already sweating as he says this. Well I guess I should do as the talking cat that looks just like me said.
"Thanks buddy! I owe you 1!" I shout as I run towards the battle.
"You owe me so much more than 1!" I'm sure he's not that mad. As I run I activate the wand and transform into Kaiju boy. I already feel so much better, it's like all of my flaws just melt away. I summon Raven and we quickly fly towards the battle. As we do however, a massive BOOM thunders through the area. The heck was that? As I look around for the source I see something surreal. One of the mountains was in the wrong spot. Not in the way a disoriented or confused person might see it, but the mountain was literally closer to the base than it was before. Do 1 of the enemy kaiju have some sort of illusion ability? That question is quickly put to rest as the mountain raises int the air! It the falls back down, shaking the ground and creating another BOOM! Ok, seriously, what the heck is going on?! Is the mountain a kaiju?! That would be stupid!
"Everyone watch out! That mountain is a kaiju!" I hear Sam say as I get closer. Oh brilliant. And as if on cue, the mountain performs another rise and fall. After the BOOM came a massive roar. That roar also signaled the end of my denial. Smashing through the obstacles in its way was a turtle! A turtle with bull horns on its head. But that wasn't its main defining feature. That would be that its shell was a mountain! The fizzards were already gargantuan but I'm not really sure what word there is to describe this things
size. Wait a minute. If the fizzards are A rank, and this thing is way bigger than them, wouldn't that make it S rank? Oh no.
"Go for its eyes!" Shen ordered as he flew towards the big turtle. A simple name but also an apt 1. It doesn't even seem to notice anyone around it. Even it's fellow kaiju have to move out of the way to not be crushed. It seems singleminded on its journey to the canon. Now that I think about it, why isn't Raven going crazy? Dr Bennet said that atlasite makes Kaiju mad. Yet he's just as calm as always. "Take this!" Shen yells as he launches a series of sharp feathers towards the creatures eye. That's when it finally took notice of him. It moved with a speed that should be impossible for a creature of its size as it retracted its head and limbs back into its shell. The shell fell to the ground, causing a mini earthquake and smashing the ground to bits. Everyone, trainees and kaiju alike, were knocked over by the shockwave. Then things got even more bizarre. Shen moved to get a good angle to attack the inside of the shell, but he could never get there. The shell was spinning, slowly at first, which was obviously crazy to see because the shell looked exactly like a mountain. Especially since it was quickly getting faster. Bewilderment quickly turned to terror when I realised what it was doing.
"Everyone retreat!" I yell out. But nobody responded. They couldn't hear me, not over the winds that started. The big turtles spinning was creating a tornado. Or a hurricane might be more accurate. It wasn't long before the mountain wasn't even visible with the gale force winds it was creating. Half of the group did start to move back towards the cannon, just barely being able to escape. The high rankers didn't however. They all stood their ground against a seemingly unbeatable threat. It was kinda inspiring. Shen was even flying directly into the storm. Anyway, it's time for me to get to work. First things first is to get everyone out of harms way, we were in no way prepared for any of this, let alone an S rank. Raven is giving it his all not to be sucked in, which gives me the freedom to summon my newest creations. The rescue monkeys! Monkeys of various sizes and primary colours, with a tough yellow head and a soft hand at the end of their tails. They can even shoot out a spider silk like substance from their hands to grab people. I send out a dozen of them to grab the retreating trainees and the high ranks, the surprise making it much easier. The only one they can't get is Shen. I think I can see him in the hurricane, a near imperceptible spec swirling along with building sized monsters, even the fizzards were being tossed around. I guess this is as good a time as any to test what Louhi told me.
"What the heck?! Get off of me!" I faintly hear Howlett yell in the distance. Sorry buddy. You'll have to do your true man thing another time. I fly closer to the storm with Raven, having to narrowly avoid debris as we go. The plan is simple. Get Shen out of there, hit the big turtle with naga, hit it with even more snakes if I can make them, be back before dinner. Because a hero like Kaiju boy can't be defeated. He can't afford it. Unfortunately the
plan immediately blows up as Raven lightly grazes a large rock. A minor incident, but one that throws us off just enough to be swept into the hurricane. I hold onto ravens back for dear life, if I let go now I'll die! Ok, it's fine, you need to calm down. You're a hero now. You can't panic. Look around, take in everything around you. If you can do that then you won't be turned into strawberry jam. I look around and nearly vomit, we're going so fast! The most I can make out is a giant blurry thing in the centre of it all. I can also see a green dot in the distance, that must be Shen. I send out some vines to grab onto him, most of them snap before making it but one does wrap around his ankle. Now's just the matter of getting out. Luckily I've already prepared for that part. It's just going to really suck. I'd grown a series of red flowers out of the side of the vine, reaching almost all the way to Shen.
"Sorry about this raven!" I yell but I'm sure he already knows. My kaiju have their 'minds' stored in the wand, as the one the wand is bonded to I'm also bonded to them. Yeah, that's good, think of something else. Don't think about how bad an idea this is. I detonate all the red flowers at once, creating a massive explosion that does launch us out of the hurricane. It also makes me go deaf for a minute. Raven immediately springs into action, taking the brunt of the impact with the ground in order to save me. Good bird. Once I regain my composure I stand up, although I do stumble quite a bit, looking around for Shen. I see him a couple of yards away. That's convenient. I walk over and start healing him. He's unconscious but otherwise fine. Honestly the ground looks more hurt than an he is. Unfortunately I don't really have the time to heal him more thoroughly as the big turtle is getting closer, grinding away at the mountains in its way until nothings left. I wonder if the anti sky cannon would work here? Or are they choosing not to use it? Well I guess it doesn't matter either way. I make another rescue monkey that's 10 feet tall and have them take Shen to safety. I don't really want anyone else around for what I'm about to do. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the eye of the storm is where the force is weakest. I'll need to get really high to not get sucked in. But once I'm there, I'll hit it with everything I've got! We begin our ascent, having to constantly fly to the left to avoid the storm. But it's moving way faster then it was before. Taking a closer look gives me a horrifying image. The big turtle wasn't moving from its spot anymore. Rather, the hurricane was getting bigger! Expanding on all sides. Soon it'll engulf the cannon, and with enough time even the city! I'm sure the structures can survive, but there will still be a lot of casualties! I can hear the kaiju's roar from inside the tempest, it senses a threat, so it'll exert as much effort as necessary to kill it. We try to pull away as hard as we can to avoid being sucked in again, but it's no use. I'm going to die. This was stupid. Why did I think I could do anything?
"Your not done yet!!!" I'm snapped out of my
thoughts by a familiar voice. Allister suddenly appears, clinging to ravens chest. I reach out my hand to help him up but he ignores it. Instead he summons 3 of his clones, taking up all the space available and also causing me to realise the the Allister who came here was also a clone. The added weight starts to drag us down but only for a moment. "You're a hero! Win like 1!" The main 1 says while looking me dead in the eyes before they all kick off in unison. The combined force launching us upwards and away from the hurricane, but pushing them into the storm. He really just did that for someone like me? Well there's no way I can give up after that! Especially since that just gave me a wicked idea!
"Raven! Ride the wind!" I say with a confident
grin on my face. Even if I'm actually not that confident in this idea, smiling through it helps. Raven immediately understands what I'm asking and shifts its posture. Instead of fighting the currents, we'll use them. Let them drag us along, making sure to stay just far enough away to not get dragged in as we gain speed. We climb higher and higher, the air getting thin but at this point I don't care, this is amazing. A huge series of debris appears before us, but I've got this. Without thinking I jump off ravens back, running across the first obstacle, making spider silk to swing from the next one and summoning Naga to smash through the last 1. Raven catches me after this and I return Naga to the wand. Even if the kaiju's 'mind' returns to the wand when they get destroyed doesn't mean I need to sacrifice the bodies for no reason. Eventually we climb above a ton of clouds and rise beyond the storm. I can see so much up here, the curve of the planet, the purple oceans beyond our blue 1, the stars in the day which is quite cool. But most prominent is of course the the hurricane below us. It looks like it's finally enveloped the cannon base. I hope everyone's safe. With how quickly it's expanding the decoy team is probably dealing with it as well. It'll even reach the city soon. And in the centre is the spinning mass of a mountain. If we can hit it hard enough to fracture it, we can find the heart and hopefully take it out with minimal suffering. I just need to focus for a second. I don't have a lot of time before I pass out. First order of business, a LOT of bombs. As many red flowers as I can manage, 500 in the end. But that's not enough, so I have to turn to something I know is gonna hurt. "I'm really sorry!" I say as I pat Ravens back. He just nods in acceptance. He'll survive because of the wand but this still suck. As the bombs fall in what I hope is the right trajectory, I try and partially manifest Thundercat. Not even sure if that's how this works but I made spider silk without a kaiju earlier so maybe. I start to glow pink as lightning pours out from the wand. If I use use the same principles as the anti sky cannon, I can hopefully launch raven with a huge amount of force, especially with the help of gravity. Just to be sure though, I make even more tiny red flowers, packed as densely as I can make them and cover them over ravens body. I'm not sure what's going to knock me out first, the lack of air or the energy this is taking. Finally, I cover raven in a thick layer of gummy matter to protect it from the heat. It should burn off as he falls. We start to fall when I'm finished, the first explosion on the mountain almost acting as a starting pistol. I'll jump off when we get closer, assuming I stay conscious I'll summon Raven again to save me and deliver another blow if need be. Assuming I can. I'm at my limit here. More explosions go off as we get closer, the gummy matter burning away as we do. I have to make some vines to pull us back on course a few times but otherwise it's going well. Even with the spinning I can tell there's a bunch of craters now, but not enough. At this point we're moving so fast I can barley keep up, but I manage to jump off at just the right time. A
second later, from a thousand feet in the air I see a bright light as Raven collides with big turtle, multiple sonic booms following soon after. This is my anti turtle cannon. I'd say it was worth the effort. Thanks everyone. The hurricanes starting to dissipate as the kaiju has stopped spinning. As I fall I can see even through thick smoke the the glowing purple Kaiju heart has been exposed. Raven had literally cracked the mountain shell in 2. But there's a problem. It's already regenerating! How much energy does this thing have?! I'll need to summon something to deal the finishing blow. But nothing's coming out. No! Not now! Am I really out of juice?! But we were so close! "Please! Not now! I want to save everyone! I want to win! I don't want to die!" As tears stream down my face I feel an intense cold rush over my body. Followed by what I can only describe as a tiny pink fire appearing before me. Without thinking I reach out for it, but it's not hot or even cold. All of a sudden I feel a rush of adrenaline pour into me, like someone plugged a charger into me. I'm not falling anymore, I'm flying. Except I haven't summoned Raven back yet. Instead the feather cape on my back had transformed into white wings! I guess since the costume is made of kaiju matter it can do this sort of thing. But where is this energy coming from? I look down at the big turtle. "Just die already!" For some reason I don't even feel bad about what I'm about to do. I simply point my wand
at the heart and hope something comes out. And it does, just not what I was expecting. A huge bird made of fire, at least 200 ft long, burst forth from the wand. It barrelled towards the heart, making it just in time before the wound closed. What followed was a massive explosion that definitely destroyed the heart once and for all. Did I really do that? Where did all that energy come from? Why don't I feel bad for killing a living creature? I look to my left and see the base is still intact. Everyone's safe. Oh well. "I did it!!!" I shout out triumphantly. Even if killing that creature wasn't a good thing, I still acted like a hero. This was the proof I needed. Being Kaiju boy really is worth it. I can be worth it.
