They were still holding each other when the voice returned.
Though it still had that coldness in it, with that unshakable authority, the tone carried a faint warmth now, as though it had stepped a fraction closer to them.
"Both candidates have successfully passed the inheritance trial and have proven themselves worthy successors. You will now inherit the Ancient Ravine Mist Space."

The words settled over her, but her mind did not linger on them. Something else tugged at her attention. Vai.
She lifted her head, her gaze moving quickly across their surroundings, searching.
Where was he? She hadn't seen him since she got out of the illusion.
Then she saw a basket sitting a short distance away, half-hidden where they had left it earlier. Her breath caught as she spotted the small form inside.
