Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: War?

As soon as Freya and I left, I saw a clearly angry Hestia standing in front of a large group of people.

"Uranus, what do you mean? Why did you bring your family? Do you want to take my daughter?" Hestia asked, a hint of malice in her voice.

"Hestia, I just need to talk to her and have her answer a few questions." said the old man, standing across from Hestia.

I still don't understand. If you're a god, you can look like anyone, but why did you choose the appearance of an old man?

"And for this 'conversation,' you brought so many people? Don't make me laugh; you clearly don't have good intentions."

"And what if that's true? What can you do? You're just a weak, beggarly goddess. You have no power to resist." the old man said arrogantly.

"Don't get cocky, old man, she has me." I said, deciding to intervene.

He looked at me and smiled creepily.

"I was just looking for you and wanted…" he didn't finish, and I interrupted him.

"I don't care what you wanted. I don't have time for some old man. You're bothering my goddess, so get out of my sight."

He merely narrowed his eyes.

"Girl, don't you have any respect for your elders?" he asked.

"Not for the likes of you." I said smugly.

"So he'll act the hard way?" he said with a sigh.

"Grab her!" the old man shouted, but before his men could move on us, another voice rang out.

"If I were you, I wouldn't do that."

We turned toward the newcomer's voice, and it was Loki, with her entire family behind her, and Riveria and Ais standing next to her.

"Loki? What are you doing here?" the old man asked.

"What do you mean? Preventing you from committing a crime." Loki said.

"Do you even realize what you're doing?" the old man asked with disdain.

"Yes, I'm helping my friend Riveria, and Ais spoke highly of her." Loki said.

And just now I saw Loki holding Ais's hand... Did the blonde really listen to me, or was there something else going on?

"You want to go to war with me for her sake?" the old man asked.

"War? "Isn't that a strong word?" another voice rang out from the other side.

There was a red-haired girl there, one eye hidden behind a bandage.

"Hephaestus?" Uranus asked, surprised.

"Yes, and I'm here for my friend, too." Hephaestus said, looking at Hestia.

Well, even though she kicked out Hetia, that doesn't stop her from considering my goddess a friend.

"Are you sure you want to confront me? I..."

"Don't make me laugh, what confrontation? "It'll be a one-sided battle." another voice said, slightly to the side.

There stood a rather large woman, the former captain of Freya's family, and behind her were a multitude of people.

I merely glanced at Freya, who was in the form of Syr. She smiled at me, to which I simply rolled my eyes.

When did she even have time? Or did she know all along?

"Freya's family..." said one of the old man's men, a hint of fear in his voice.

"So, Uranus, do you still want to fight?" Loki asked, rather smugly.

The old man merely gritted his teeth.

"Uranus, if I were you, I'd leave." "Your next steps will determine my family's cooperation with the guild." Hephaestus said.

"It's not over yet!" Ouranos shouted.

I merely snorted at his words.

"A phrase worthy of the title of third-rate villain." I said with disdain, causing him to gnash his teeth.

"We're leaving!" he shouted and turned away, as did the rest of his family.

"Well then. We'll probably go too." Freya's family said, and they left as well.

It's a shame I didn't kill him, but there's always next time. Let's say, if the guild doesn't pay me!

Hephaestus and Loki approached Hestia and me.

"Cow, don't be so happy! "It wasn't for you, but for your daughter." Loki said, looking at Hestia.

"What did you say, flat-bottomed?" Hestia growled, and she and Loki ended up insulting each other.

Hephaestus, seeing this, sighed heavily and then looked at me.

"Putting aside the behavior of these two children, I take it you are Hestia's daughter?" Hephaestus asked.

"Yes, my name is Evernight." I said, extending my hand.

She shook it immediately, replying.

"I am Hephaestus, the goddess of blacksmithing."

"Hestia wasn't exaggerating when she spoke of you. Your beauty is truly goddess-like," Hephaestus said, causing me to blush.

"Thank you for the compliment." I said.

"In any case, it's time for me and my family to go too."

"If you get tired of this goddess, you can always come to me. And be careful. Uranus won't forget this; he might even incite the other gods. Although he won't dare openly oppose three goddesses, still, be careful." Hephaestus said and left.

Ais approached me next.

"Ais, you and Loki..." I didn't finish, as she nodded.

"When I returned, I told Loki that she wasn't your type, which upset her. But after a while, Bell came running and said that some 'old man' had gathered people and was coming for you. So I wasn't sure if Loki would want to help you, so I told her that if she helped, I would become her girlfriend." Ais said.

"You know, you shouldn't have sold yourself out for me. I managed on my own." I said, a little regretfully.

Isn't it bad that she'll be with Loki without feelings...

"I didn't 'sell myself out,' I decided to listen to your advice. The goddess always tried to ask me out, and this time I actually accepted. I don't know how it will turn out, but we'll see." the blonde said.

"So, have you thought about my offer?" I asked.

She nodded.

"Yes, I'm going to kill him myself, so I need more power. I'm truly grateful to you for the offer, but I'm afraid I'll refuse it." she said, to which I simply smiled.

She walked over to the couple and took Loki's hand, causing her to squeak softly and blush. I saw that Hestia wanted to joke with her, so I did the same, and they both fell silent.

Soon enough, Loki's family left too, and I turned toward Freya, but she was gone.

And she didn't even say goodbye?

Oh well, we'll meet again anyway.

Sooner or later!
