Chapter 82 - Chapter 81: Mitsuri's Team Uniform

Ryuya took a deep breath and once again immersed himself in the cultivation of Sun Breathing.

"Sun Breathing, First Form: Circular Dance!"

He inhaled sharply, ignored the burning sensation tearing through his body, and forcefully swung the Nichirin Blade forward in a blazing arc.

Was it going to work?

Though his movements were still slightly stiff and lacked the seamless flow of a single breath, scarlet flames ignited from the hilt and surged toward the tip of the blade.

The sword technique was about to manifest.

It was finally going to succeed!

But in the next instant, Ryuya's blade itself began to burn.

The smell of scorching flesh filled the air. The flames that had been about to burst outward suddenly dwindled and collapsed.

He had failed again.

And this time, he had been only one step away.

The Nichirin Blade sizzled violently. Blackened residue flaked off and fell to the ground, releasing thin streams of blue smoke.

"Master?"

Seeing the frustration on his face and the burning blade, Makomo stepped forward anxiously.

"Cough, cough!"

Ryuya spat out two more mouthfuls of blood.

He shut his eyes tightly, switched to Moon Breathing, and drew in deep, stabilizing breaths to dispel the burning sensation in his lungs.

He could endure the pain.

He could regulate the backlash within his demon body using Moon Breathing.

But how was he supposed to solve the problem of his blade continuously burning and self-destructing?

His weapon was not a standard Nichirin Blade forged by the Demon Slayer Corps.

It was a demon blade, created from the flesh and blood of his Master, Kokushibo—just like Kokushibo's own blade.

If his demon body reacted violently to Sun Breathing, then this demon blade would naturally react even more severely.

In fact, Ryuya could clearly feel that the blade rejected Sun Breathing even more than he did.

He suspected this stemmed from Kokushibo's own deep obsession.

"Makomo, lend me your Nichirin Blade for a moment."

He looked at her calmly.

"Master..."

Seeing him injure himself over and over in pursuit of refinement made Makomo's heart ache.

She didn't want to hand over her blade.

But the unwavering determination in Ryuya's eyes left her unable to refuse.

Once Master set his mind on something, no one could stop him.

No matter how difficult the path, he would grit his teeth and walk it to the end.

Without further hesitation, Makomo ran inside and brought back her Nichirin Blade.

Ryuya took it. It felt noticeably lighter in his hand.

He swung it a few times to adjust to the balance before sheathing his own blade.

Because his weapon was forged from flesh and blood, it would eventually regenerate after burning—but the process would take time. Sun Breathing inflicted the most feared kind of damage upon demons.

"Sun Breathing, First Form: Circular Dance!"

He slashed forward once more.

As the blade heated up, the familiar, searing pain once again clawed through his lungs.

This time, Ryuya did not retreat.

He endured it.

With a fierce whoosh, flames erupted from the blade, carving a blazing arc through the night air.

His pupils constricted.

The surrounding temperature surged as the fiery slash tore forward.

He had succeeded.

A faint spark of satisfaction flickered in his heart.

As expected, the issue lay with his own demon blade.

"Master, you're amazing!"

Makomo rushed forward excitedly.

Ryuya lowered the blade and fell into deep thought.

Though he had succeeded, this was Makomo's blade—not his.

It was not suited to him.

He could cultivate Sun Breathing through sheer willpower, but to properly wield it, his demon blade would never suffice.

He needed a true Nichirin Blade of his own.

At that moment, he thought of the Swordsmith Village—the hidden place where blades for the Demon Slayer Corps were forged.

There was a mechanical battle doll there: Yoriichi Type Zero.

Inside it rested a Nichirin Blade.

That blade had once belonged to Tsugikuni Yoriichi himself.

"Sun Breathing, Second Form: Azure Heaven!"

As Ryuya swung his blade again, a clear objective had already formed in his mind.

Demon Slayer Corps Headquarters

After completing her report to Kagaya Ubuyashiki, Kanroji Mitsuri was guided by Shinobu Kocho to the Demon Slayer Corps tailor to receive her custom uniform.

What should have been a simple matter immediately ran into trouble.

"Are all the girls' uniforms in the Demon Slayer Corps... like this?"

Mitsuri stared at the revealing outfit she had just put on, utterly confused. Her eyes turned into tiny dots.

Huh? Huh? Huh?

Were all the girls dressed this boldly?

The seam down the front was wide open.

Was this really okay?

It looked so suggestive.

People would definitely think she was strange!

Blushing furiously, Mitsuri fidgeted with her hands and timidly asked the tailor, Maeda Masao.

"Yes!"

Maeda Masao answered with a straight face, his gaze sweeping over her figure.

Girls should dress like this, he thought smugly. Why hide such a great figure?

"But it's really too revealing. I don't think it's very suitable. Um... can I have a different one?"

Mitsuri asked weakly.

"No. It's the rule."

Maeda Masao refused without hesitation.

"A rule? Then... then okay."

Not good at arguing and unwilling to break what she believed to be official regulations, Mitsuri could only bite her lip and accept it in embarrassment.

"Hmm, goodbye."

Maeda Masao waved her off, secretly delighted.

Newcomers were easy to fool.

Unlike Shinobu Kocho.

He had once given Shinobu the same design, only for her to immediately tear it to shreds in fury. He had been forced to provide a normal uniform afterward.

Such a waste of effort.

Covering her chest nervously, Mitsuri hurried away from the tailor shop.

As she ran, she kept glancing around anxiously, terrified someone would point at her.

She needed to get to the Butterfly Mansion and find Kocho quickly.

If she were left alone and people stared at her, she might actually die from embarrassment!

Lost in panic, Mitsuri collided with something solid and fell to the ground with an "Ouch!"

"Why did you stop?"

Kaigaku raised an eyebrow irritably, looking toward Iguro Obanai behind him.
